Hi Nick, after watching this great review, I took the plunge on the tinyhawk s. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong thou. When I try changing pid profile to 1 1 it always shows as 1 4 no matter what. Also when in air mode the craft bounces. OK if changed to other modes. I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks again 👍
Not sure I understand the profile issue. Do you mean it doesn't change to profile 1 4? or that it switches back after leaving the OSD? Air mode, can cause bounces off of the ground or other surfaces when making contact, this is normal. When landing hover just over the ground and disarm to land without bouncing. If you don't want to land in that method, switch out of air mode when landing, a switch assigned to air mode will be required.
I got a Xlite pro today. And I updated the firmware which supports d16 successfully. I can bind ac900 receiver and r-xsr receiver in d16, and both work ok. However, I can not bind tinyhawk s which should support d16( I can bind it in d16 mode with taranis QX7). Can you please try to bind xlite pro with tinyhawk s, see if it works? thanks.
You showed the connections for a second Rx - enough room under the hood? I picked up the original TH and managed to get a DSMX in there, but it was a tight fit. Wish I'd held out for the S after watching this!
Sorry I missed this comment. I am sure I responded a day or so ago. I do think there is room, it will need to be a micro rx and the space should be just like the original tinyhawk.
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes from inside to backyard! it's amazing how much you can do with 25mw specially on american houses.. I live in a colonial city in méxico and I can bearly fly trough 1 wall :'D
I wanted the original tinyhawk but it lacked 2s capability I bought the trashcan instead. I didn't really need one of these but I had to scratch that itch...
That makes sense. You still impress me with your indoor acro flying, my acro flying is best suited for outdoors in big spaces, indoors I've mastered angle mode pretty well, mainly because I don't live in a house as big as yours.
Because my house isn't such an ideal fpv playground for micro quads, almost 7 hours ago I decided to fly my Eachine UK65 outside, but I stayed inside, and perfected landing on the lit streetlight in the dark, because why not :) (latest video on my channel)
Bardwell has a good video about "project mocking bird" (not the CIA operation). It's a team of people who specialize in optimizing performance in micro quads. As far as quad retrieval is concerned, you could design a tennis ball shooter running on compressed air to knock the quad out of trouble.
yes, Patrick J Clarke is a wizard with PMB. I have only been stuck in a tree twice, both times I was able to get it with a rake and knock it out with a ball :)
we use the sticks on the radio. If flying mode 2, right stick middle full up and left stick middle full left, the select profile. A video might be more beneficial. Maybe search youtube for "fpv osd tutorial".
Great job Nick as usual! I got myself a tinyhawk s to add to my Uruav UR65 for the winter. The UR65 in acro mode was tough to do in acro mode indoors and the Tinyhawk s is much better for acro indoors. Do you have a tutorial on flying acro inside? I am forcing myself to fly my Tinyhawk s in acro mode and I am getting better. Outside I fly acro all the time. Inside I feel like i am starting all over! How about some tips from the indoor acro mini quad master?
Also, what do think about missing this camera and installing the nano split 3. With the HD and the sd card slot? And I have a 200mw Switchable VTX, that I would like to add...., probably too much weight, maybe one or the other?? Ty
everyone just skips the binding process for this damn tinyhawk. I have an OG tinyhawk RTF kit with the cheap goggles and transmitter it comes with, I bought the new version of the tinyhawk S but no matter what i do, i cannot get the old transmitter to bind to the new tinyhawk S.... Someone HELP ME PLEASE. im following instructions from both the original rtf kit for putting the transmitter in bind mode and the instrutions that came with the tinyhawk S. but every time i bind and try to restart the tinyhawk... i starts in bind mode again...
do we need to turn off both the radio and the quad after binding. I haven't had the chance to try out the RTF kit, just a off the top of my head guess.
So with the exception of the camera mounting Emax listened and fixed EVERYTHING about the original, and kept it at the same price, well done Emax!! That is great!! Was wondering about your indoor audio, nice to know. Great review as always Nick! Also what is your take on the new rules and LAANC system?
Looks great! Any chance you could check on a particular battery fit when you have time? I'm curious about running either 1 or a pair of the tiny whoop 333 1s batteries. For 2s or 1s I could make a couple ph2.0 y adapters in parallel and series. Interested in these in particular because I already have a bunch and really like their performance. If the rx2 can be used to connect a nano dsmx receiver I'll probably be buying one. Nice review, as always!
@@NickBurnsFPV Its a feature I first saw requested in 2017 :) Enabled in the CLI. Set auto_profile_cell_count. I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet but your situation seems perfect. I think you need BF 4.0+.

@@NickBurnsFPV Nick with the quality and the shear amount of your content you should be well over 50k by now. Plus with new regs throughout the world your content is trending. You may want to study a little about how youtube works to get you trending and popping up on the sidebar. Also do some social media as well. RCgroups is pretty much dead so don't expect much there. Something isn't right, Has to be the titles, thumbs and tags. Also responding to your viewers has something to do with it as well. AndyRC does well cause his geographic location and the same with Stu.. youtube's algorithm looks at different regions and sees who else is serving the same content in those regions. So AndyRC is pretty much the only one I know of in the UK and Stu is pretty much the same in Australia. I really think Bruce is the ONLY one in new zealand plus he's been around for awhile, does planes and has a good broadcasting voice. Not really sure how Drone Camps got so many at all unless it's his "honest review" schtick. Drone Mesh has 30k already but the guy does offer allot of knowledge and his thumbnails are the best I've seen in this genre so he is growing fast.
The mobula 7 and trashcan are much more aggressive flyers. No doubt, this performs really well on 1s and a step or two below the more traditional 2s whoops.
Hi again Nick, excellent job as usual. Very informative, also nice flying! I see with 348 comments u must find it hard to get back to everyone but if you have 2 seconds.??? I just bought the s after buying the regular rtr bundle and we excited to fly the new faster quad but I was fairly disappointed. I had the regular Tinyhawk hong pretty nicely. I had switched my profile to 3 and it 2as quite a bit faster. Well I had to pay a guy to get the bnf s version to bind with and to be able to fly with e6 transmitter. After a day and a half I get it back and what a dud. I don't know for sure but it seems like he or I did something we wrong....? As soon as I get back to work I do plan on joining your patreon Channel. thanks again Nick, if you don't have the time, I understand if you're too busy take care of yourself and your family keep those cool videos coming take care.
@@NickBurnsFPV , okay so I went back into Betaflight. Well actually I am using Speedy Bee right now, long story. Anyway, I paid to have someone set up a S BNF to bind and fly with a E6 Transmitter. And it flys so slow. And initially, when I first got it back, it was changing speeds when I switched from angle to horizon to acro? Very strange, right? Well I went into Speedy Bee and changed both profiles to 1 and it worked. I now had alone modes but it was as slow a a caterpillar. Lol. I know the obvious question, why I don't I just talk to the guy who did the work?? Well he's a bit of a pre-madona, to the say the least. And again, I appreciate your time and I will be joining your patreon Channel just as soon as I go back to work. I guess my question is, does any of this make sense? I'm not that efficient in Betaflight, so when I got it and it just started going faster as I switched modes, my first concern was fly away. I figured flying slow as better than watching it fly away.....? Lol
whoa, thats a hard one. In the moment, mobula 7, tinyhawk s, sailfly x, sky starz x120, sky starz x140 pro. These are all RTFs, builds would be even tougher.
I am not sure they will. I would think the v2 or "S" version would have had more raw thrust if they were thinking an HD version next. I could be wrong, we will have to wait and see.
Is there somewhere an explanation for the charger? like what does the green light say? And when is it finished? Do i have to use both connectors of the 2s battery? I could not find any note in the manual... Hope someone can help. Thanks
I don't specifically recall the lights, basically when you set to charge its one color and when its done it switches color. No both connectors are not required on the charger, with other "full" charges we often need both leads the balance lead and the primary.

@nick, awesome review. I got a quick question. i'm just starting with the hobby and i don't want to spend a lot of money on a charger. Do you think the little charging board that comes with this package will help me out for the first couple of months? i really like the small form factor and that it works with 1 and 2s. I only fly whoops and toothpick class! thanks in advance!
The included charger will work just fine, it won't charge very fast and I suggest using a cell phone charging brick no a computer. I don't trust them enough to plug into a computer.
Great review and amazing skill, I can see you have fun with this. I have a question if I can, my tinyhawk s suddenly start to not connecting to my google (or other google) so I have to push the button near the USB for 5 second, after for 2 seconds change the band, I guess, and after pushing it for other 5 second (I think to exit this procedure) and like that I can have video again, but when I replace battery I need to redo the whole process. Any suggestion to fix this? thanks
does auto scan on your goggles not pick up the video signal. Sounds like the vtx is on a different channel/band than your goggles, pressing the button then gets the channels to the same or near, then battery change resets, the reset is due to betaflight osd control of the band/channel. When you have signal go into the osd with left stick mid and full left, right stick full forward middle. Then select the features and then I think its tramp, change the band and channel to the one your goggles are on, select set, the video should now be on the same channel when batteries are changed.
@@NickBurnsFPV It worked for me :) thanks a lot. It is my first drone with betaflight and stuff so for newbe is not that easy to understand all the settings. But thanks a lot I appreciate
@@giropiro yes, the learning curve is a difficult barrier, but each day we learn more and youtube/online has many wonderful learning opportunities. Good to hear your all set for more fun.
For absolute best performance yes, and xt30 will allow more current than ph2.0. The nano tech 45-90c are good but they come with jst, I most often use the GNB and RDQ 350 2s, I believe I have links to them in the video description of each video over the last 10months or so
Great review!! Which 2S quad would you recommend; the tinyhawk S, the Trashcan, or the mobula7? The 200 mw vtx on the Trashcan is appealing, but which would you recommend overall? Thanks
If you have been flying a while the trashcan or mobula would be my recommendation. I prefer the mobula for the linear throttle curve where the trashcan has a large amount of thrust at the lower end of the throttle. If you haven't been flying very long the tinyhawk is going to be the most durable, the trashcan would be the next most durable and last mobula
There are extra uarts on the board to add a receiver. I am not all that familiar with TBS receivers, but I would think so. The vtx isn't part of the main board, but is soldered on with pins, would be a bit of work but yes replaceable.
How do you get such great fpv signal? I could barely go past one wall without losing fpv signal??? Do you think it’s because I use the eachine vr d3 goggles? Thanks
Its multi part. I use rapidfire, and I found the kitchen table as the best position. I also have traditional dry wall construction with an open floor plan. Also try turning off your wifi and see if it improves.
Video looks good, what antennas do you use? That video was legacy mode? What is that after market antenna you got on the x lite? I get pretty low reception with mine.
hi nick i just purchased a tinyhawk s and on my are the motor connectors just like the old one so my question is is this ok or did i catch a clone or copy got it from ebay
Nice VTX. I began to notice that there was ZERO breakup in the signal. What goggle receiver module do you have on the goggles? I'm assuming you have fatsharks.
I’m currently monitoring bat voltage and have the thresholds for warnings set to 3.35 and minimum to 3.25 and when I go lower then 3.25 I don’t get the land now warnings
Better to ask someone who cares. Nick has a "blacklist" and often totally ignores viewers questions even live. He is a bit of an elitist dweeb like Kabab who is a pretty sick dude. Look for Beta flight tutorials from Albert Kim and Joshua Bardwell who have more humanity not to mention far more knowledge.
I am afraid you are speaking of something you do not know. What "blacklist" is this? Maybe its you who have been blacklisted by youtube or other youtuber's have flagged your comments as spam...I found your comment in youtube's spam. If you have asked a question and I missed it, it was not intentional. The live stream chat rolls by very fast, and many items in the chat aren't targeted at me with the @. Further this comment is one day old, wouldn't want to give a guy who works a non-youtube job with a family time to do research to provide an answer. Quick jump to a conclusion and say disparaging things about someone. I sure wouldn't do that to you...I don't know you, nor do you know me. Good day.
Nick Burns thanks for a response! I don't spam anybody and have never had any reprimand from youtube. I speak from my personal experience with your channel. The @ symbol? News to me. so thanks. So, those questions I asked repeatedly in your live chat all went to spam? Right. I stand by my critique.
Do you see any improvement in the VTX performance of the new model? I love my original TH but the video feed is barely useable. Your video seems to be working pretty well.
I don't see improvement, but as you said mine is pretty good and the original was good too. The only improvement in vtx that I am aware of is the smart audio. If video reception isn't good I would pull the antenna out of the housing to test that. Also we might need to change bands and channel to get out of the normal wifi band, or turn our homes wifi off to see if that helps. Otherwise we are looking at a new goggle module if that is an option. I have been running the rapidfire module shortly after it came out...but it is expensive.
If its warm where you are, I would think a toothpick style would be more fun. If the weather in your area is cold or difficult to get outside very often the tinyhawk might allow for more frequent fun flights. So depends on the weather...I think.
Hey Nick, love your vids! Just wondering what your overall favorite indoor quad is? I’ve been racing the drl sim for years and finally picked up some cool gear, sky03o and a TInyhawk freestyle but I’ve come to realize the open props are too dangerous around people and our tiny fur babies. How does the charger work? Do you plug in the balance leads for 2s? Also how do you know when they are done? BTW Awesome video. One of the best channels on youtube.
Yes, the charger charges off the balance led. I don't recall specifically, usually either the light will change color or go from on to off on these little chargers. Thank you
It's built into the main board, but the first one had a spare uart you could use to connect an external rx. Not sure if this one still has a spare uart since the vtx now has smart audio. But apparently this new one has better range. Edit: see 19:00

Air mode, can cause bounces off of the ground or other surfaces when making contact, this is normal. When landing hover just over the ground and disarm to land without bouncing. If you don't want to land in that method, switch out of air mode when landing, a switch assigned to air mode will be required.
Nick great work THANK YOU !! For your work in the hobby.
Awesome indoor flying
Thank you
First time seeing this, I already have the original tinyhawk and I love it so much I just going to have to have this one, ty Nick Burns....
Thanks a lot for the review. Just ordered one, even I already have two Tinyhawks.
rocking all the tinyhawk you will be!
I got a Xlite pro today. And I updated the firmware which supports d16 successfully. I can bind ac900 receiver and r-xsr receiver in d16, and both work ok. However, I can not bind tinyhawk s which should support d16( I can bind it in d16 mode with taranis QX7). Can you please try to bind xlite pro with tinyhawk s, see if it works? thanks.
You can get a camera protecter type in tiny hawk camera protecter only a few bucks and you get 4 you probably now that by now 👍 peace from Scotland 👌
Any way to show those pids from the osd? I haven't downloaded beta flight and would like to copy them to my eachine novice 1
Man still love watching your channel. Awesome stuff Nick :)
Thank you
Now that the weather is good you should also include your backyard on circuit!
Not sure I full understand. I did fly two batteries in the backyard. Or do you mean fly from inside to outside?
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes from inside to backyard!
it's amazing how much you can do with 25mw specially on american houses.. I live in a colonial city in méxico and I can bearly fly trough 1 wall :'D
Fantastic review and flying, Nick!!! 😃
Pretty amazing little quad! 😃
I wanted the original tinyhawk but it lacked 2s capability I bought the trashcan instead. I didn't really need one of these but I had to scratch that itch...
dang hobby, always reaching for our wallets. 🤑
Just got notification emails saying you and KababFPV both just uploaded Tiny Hawk S videos.
Nice :)
yes, emax dictated the time and date of the releases.
That makes sense.
You still impress me with your indoor acro flying, my acro flying is best suited for outdoors in big spaces, indoors I've mastered angle mode pretty well, mainly because I don't live in a house as big as yours.
Our house is not only pretty large, but well laid out for fpv. Never moving :)
Because my house isn't such an ideal fpv playground for micro quads, almost 7 hours ago I decided to fly my Eachine UK65 outside, but I stayed inside, and perfected landing on the lit streetlight in the dark, because why not :) (latest video on my channel)
Nice. That light looks a bit like a duck bill.
I have only been stuck in a tree twice, both times I was able to get it with a rake and knock it out with a ball :)
how do you access that menu at 13:58 to change pid profile?
we use the sticks on the radio. If flying mode 2, right stick middle full up and left stick middle full left, the select profile. A video might be more beneficial. Maybe search youtube for "fpv osd tutorial".
would have been cool if they made a nano camera mount
for racer nano and nano 2
Great review. Unreal speed inside your house!
Thank you. We have good flight lines in the house for sure.
Lol. I don't know that I have any tips or tricks....fly a lot inside.
Also, what do think about missing this camera and installing the nano split 3. With the HD and the sd card slot? And I have a 200mw Switchable VTX, that I would like to add...., probably too much weight, maybe one or the other?? Ty
installing a split is going to be a big mod job, new canopy or lots of glue etc.
@@NickBurnsFPV I figured the same. Here's a mind bender, if I were to swap the frame for a V3 Mobula frame, would I have to switch motor direction?
Nick, I tried to join your patreon Channel and does it only take PayPal? If I could use my credit or debit card that would be great..?
Also, any idea how to make this S fly faster? It's a dog
everyone just skips the binding process for this damn tinyhawk.
At this time I am not well informed on the LAANC system.
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm not sure how it's gonna affect the sub 250g quads but doesn't seem to be any distinction between weight class now for regulations
I am hopeful we will follow Canada to some degree
@@NickBurnsFPV Right!! Love their rules for sub 250g quads....basically, don't be stupid, and almost in those words
Thank you Nick
Love black color,
Looks great!
Sure, seems simple. I will look into it.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks, I appreciate it!
Thanks Nick.
Thanks Nick. Have you tried setting up auto profile change based on battery cells detected?
I have not. Interesting idea. How would we execute that?
@@NickBurnsFPV Its a feature I first saw requested in 2017 :) Enabled in the CLI. Set auto_profile_cell_count. I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet but your situation seems perfect. I think you need BF 4.0+.
Ah, I should look into that. Thank you
@@NickBurnsFPV No no sir....Thank you ! :)
Nick definitely one of your best videos
Thank you. I appreciate the compliment. Can you enlighten me as to what made it one of the best?
@@NickBurnsFPV The jump cuts got the pertinent information out fast. The flying was smooth and fast but also very clear. Out door was good as you were shooting between small places. It showed how small and nimble this is and also how well tuned it is. Honestly do not understand your lack of subs. At this point with the quality of content you should be well over 50k. Might be your tags, titles or thumbnails.../shrug
You could be on to something with the tags, titles or thumbs. I am definitely not a youtube guru.
The wait is over. The remaining question now is how does it compare to the Mod 7 and Trashcan?
Sorry, I don't understand what the issue is. I understand there is an issue, just not sure what it happening.
Lol
What are top 5 all time favorite micros? Preferably those that are great indoors and outdoors?
Thanks Nick!
whoa, thats a hard one. In the moment, mobula 7, tinyhawk s, sailfly x, sky starz x120, sky starz x140 pro. These are all RTFs, builds would be even tougher.
Nice vid nick. I wonder when will they come out with a HD ver of tinyhawk. Coz that would be awesome
I am not sure they will. I would think the v2 or "S" version would have had more raw thrust if they were thinking an HD version next. I could be wrong, we will have to wait and see.
I own the original tinyhawk. Can i convert it to tinyhawk s ? I only fly it with 1s. Did i only need to change the motors and get better performance?
Not without big expense. The s version is 2s compatible, the main board would need to be replaced and the motors.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you!

@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks for the quikc reply. I was thinking about using it with an Ipad Charger.
yes, that will work too.
Ordered mine and I’m going straight for the xt30 mod.....wish me luck nik
good luck.
Hi Nick, is the binding procedure tricky on this one? I can’t seem to get the bind to take.
Its pretty typical. If I recall correctly, we press and hold the button for 2 seconds then bing in d8 mode on our radio.
If they come out with bnf for the s I’m buying 👍
this is bnf. Or were you thinking a kit with radio as part of the kit?
Nick will work with the same remote and goggles of the 1st generation Tinyhawk (RTF KIT ) ?
I would think so, I am sure the goggles, but the radio I can't be sure. I didn't have the rtf kit to try and learn about its capabilities.
@@NickBurnsFPV Nick i was thinking to buy the RTF kit of the emax, them this one come out, i'm a beginner in fpv with one can you recomend ?
My feed breaks up a lot more than yours did you take the antenna out of the canopy?
No, I am using the rapidfire module and axii antennas. Also wifi can cause interference. try it with wifi off.
Thinking about picking one up before Xmas. What's the best 2S lipo now for this little beast? Thanks 👊
Also, I'm seeing others talking about switching over to an XT30 connector. Would you concur?
I just wish they had made it an 3s machine. Cheers for the review
Maybe the next tinyhawk revision will be. There focus continues to be 1s performance maximization.
Great footage. How long did it get you to learn to fly indoors that good?
Hi - would i be able to fit my own TBS Receiver to this quad? And could i swap the VTX?
There are extra uarts on the board to add a receiver. I am not all that familiar with TBS receivers, but I would think so. The vtx isn't part of the main board, but is soldered on with pins, would be a bit of work but yes replaceable.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you very much sir :)
Smart tip about about the WiFi!! But even outside, I can barely get about 150-200 feet before it’s starts to break signal
outside we can have wifi bleed over from the houses if nearby, or if a cell phone tower or high power electrical lines. Our lines are all underground.
Video looks good, what antennas do you use? That video was legacy mode? What is that after market antenna you got on the x lite? I get pretty low reception with mine.
I don't think it was legacy mode, but I am not certain. I use AXII antennas. The antenna on the x-lite is for the jr module on the back of the radio.
hi nick
i just purchased a tinyhawk s and on my are the motor connectors just like the old one so my question is is this ok or did i catch a clone or copy got it from ebay
That is normal. The freestyle is the first time they have direct soldered the motor wires.
You're getting better at slow flying!
lol, boy it sure didn't feel like it. :)
Hi, which goggles and controller can I use for this?
any fpv goggle and many frsky radios support d8 mode. Examples would be skyzone 03O googles and the frsky x-lite radio.
Hi there, just wanting to know what goggle are you using in this video?
I use the skyzone 03O goggles
Nice VTX. I began to notice that there was ZERO breakup in the signal. What goggle receiver module do you have on the goggles? I'm assuming you have fatsharks.
He runs HDOs with Rapidfire.
Yes, Thank you @Charles Warwick.
Yes, Charles is correct
Anyone know how to get the land now warning on my osd? I’ve tried a few different things and no warnings
I’m currently monitoring bat voltage and have the thresholds for warnings set to 3.35 and minimum to 3.25 and when I go lower then 3.25 I don’t get the land now warnings
Need to turn on warnings on the osd page. Its lower on the page, likely need to scroll down to see it.
Nick Burns turns out my warning was overlapped by my mode and model display lol. Thanks again

Good day.
@J B please see this thread on RCgroups, good info from voodoo614 www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3276335-Mamba-F405-R-XSR-Telemetry
All I did was ask a simple question. lol Now this is a can of worms ? WTF ? lol hahaha
Any advice on setting up FPV goggles with this drone?
Most goggles have a search function. Use that unless you know specifcially what frequency your tinyhawk is on.
Oh man Nick, I really want on of these.. You killed it, awesome flying 4shO! 👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Terrific video Nick! I love my TH V1 1s. I did have to buy a new frame. Started getting more E6000 than frame. Lol
worlds first E6000 frame! This new one should be more durable
can i bind the tinyhawk s to the turnigy evolution?
no, we have to add a flysky receiver, as the evolution is flysky
Your reviews are the best! Appreciate your work
I was waiting on this, but now I'm thinking I want a toothpick style quad, I have a 1s T.H. any thoughts?
If its warm where you are, I would think a toothpick style would be more fun. If the weather in your area is cold or difficult to get outside very often the tinyhawk might allow for more frequent fun flights. So depends on the weather...I think.
Eachine Wizard 130 or Emax Tiny Hawk 2 ?
What is bether?
I come from Germany our Time is: 15:54
two greatly different quads there. wizard inside would be very dangerous, so if you want to fly inside at all tinyhawk s
Handling and camera/rssi are what I’d really like :) thanks for your consideration in advance!!
Thank you
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks.
does anyone know if you can swap the receiver on this thing?
It's built into the main board, but the first one had a spare uart you could use to connect an external rx. Not sure if this one still has a spare uart since the vtx now has smart audio. But apparently this new one has better range. Edit: see 19:00
@@FilipRadelic I'm an afhds 2a user so having the rx2 is really important to me. I don't use smartaudio much at all. Thanks! :P
