You’re not wrong about the last one, at least when it comes to seventeen states here in the US.
It’s a misdemeanor here in Georgia, and a felony in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Michigan, but hardly anywhere is it ever enforced, and the laws are only on the books because no one’s bothered to repeal them yet (which they already have in many other states).
Honestly these sorts of private matters probably don’t require a government intervention unless there’s some emergency to it, hence why the US is one of few developed countries to have these laws in some parts. But the punishments for adultery here are nowhere nearly as harsh as in Saudi Arabia.

My biggest upset was Pass the Pigs. I would guess that maybe people haven't actually played it. I own it. I bring it out when my German-style stategists come over to play, like Power Grid or something. The entire game is throwing miniture toys and scoring how they land. I really thought it's random nature would carry it a lot further.

    • @woodfur00
      @woodfur00 4 месяца назад +2

Yeah, I'm normally pretty down with dice-rolling games, but Pass the Pigs is kind of nothing. You could compare it to Farkle (represented in this bracket by the worse-branded Makin' Bacon) except at least that gives you an ever-decreasing number of dice to base a strategy on. Pass the Pigs is just rolling the same two pigs until they land unfavorably (which is like, 50% of the time) or you decide to stop. The pigs don't even hold up well over time.

The Adultery game really doesn't seem all that bad. The default assumption is that it takes place between two couples that have already consented, and if someone plays without their partner's presence/approval, that's a personal failing, not a fault of the game. If a person doesn't feel comfortable with swinging, that's fine, but that's not the audience the game is aiming for.

RE: Candyland. I don't think reshuffling the deck counts as "gameplay". I also don't think rolling dice counts as "gameplay". So I'm going to repost a comment I made under someone else's comment about the Big C in Round 1:
"Chance does not make a game. In fact, Candyland and War are both 100% chance games. It's just the chance is decided and set at the start. Would Candyland be any more of a game if you shuffled the deck every time someone drew a card?
Player choice is necessary, but not sufficient to make a game. Would Candyland be any more of a game if you cut the deck and made two piles and players choose one of the piles to draw from each turn?
Would Candland be any more of a game if you used dice every turn to decide how far someone advances?
I say no. I consequently must contend that Snakes and Ladders is also not a game. If the players make no meaningful, at least semi-informed, strategic decisions (actual decisions), then [the 'game' in question is] just Candyland wearing a skinsuit.
-I would also contend that Sorry! is very arguably a non-game, because the only decision a player makes is how to use a Sorry! card when said card is drawn, but is that really a decision? You use it on the player with the most pawns in his safe zone; if all opponents have the same number of pawns in the safe zone, use it on the one with a pawn closest to the safe zone. Seems like an illusion of choice to me."-
Since -Sorry! and- Snake and Ladders are already out, I hope Candyland wins, because the worst games are "games" that aren't even actually games at all.

I just made a comment mourning Pass The Pigs. You literally throw plastic tiny pigs and grade how they land. It is 90% random, in some players try to add skill to the mix, but really, these pigs weigh less than a die. You might as well be running a backally hustle.

A wise man once said: "what's the most important elements of any game? Being able to fucking play it!"
North Africa cannot be played. You literally can't play a whole game of it. That absolutely has to be the worst possible crime a game can commit.

I've played What do you Meme exactly once and had a great time. You just need to go in with a mocking mindset. Likely REALLY depends on the group that's playing if you have any fun at all

This. I've played it with my folks and a group of friends at two separate parties and it was a pretty fun time overall. Not as great as CAH, mind, but for what it's trying to be it's not as bad as other games we've tried.

The hate for Rock Paper Scissors it’s just the internets ableism on full display. As someone who just got done spending three months with a serious hand injury, ain’t no way I could’ve done rock paper scissors, and it is a quick solution to millions of minor decisions so let everyone play yall.
