a thing of beauty. I have bought it like 3 times in 3 different moments of my life. Since 1978 i have tried (unsuccesfully) to play it out the entire campaign. Yes, is the largest pac war boardgame and i really LOVE IT
I've got a copy of SPI's "War in Europe", it has nine maps, 3,600 counters. I did play it during my college days. SPI published materials for combining WiE and War in the Pacific in it's magazine Moves; there was a group that tried to play the combined game and it took them about as long as the actual course of the conflict to do so.
Pacific war is smaller (waiting for my copy). War in the Pacific is the biggest. 9k counters. 12 maps... Only fully recorded game took basically all weekends for about 5 years. So it lasted as long as the actual war. This is a close second though. And both way to big for me. I mean, I would love to have a life that would allow me to play either of these games... But I can't. Waiting for my copy of Pacific War and I always have Empire of the Sun.
Equivalent in size to FGA's The Eagle and the Sun. But that's garbage. Reimagined, with quite different rules, by Decision Games in 2006; this version has a larger footprint due to having island maps for every Pacific island, and about three times as many counters.
I was not familiar with that game, but I just looked it up on BGG. Looks interesting anyway. I'm just getting back into gaming and glad to see how strong the hobby is getting. I told Dan that your EYAWtKAWbWAtA videos have inspired me to start this channel. Thanks for stopping by.

I also have the 2005 version by Decision Games. Have no one in Boise who plays war games, though. Very Sad!

It might be the biggest Pacific War game…..

Yes, at that scale AHs "Victory" in the Pacific is the best on a smaller scale.
