A pretty good way to present the battle. I get the impression that you sacrificed some of the events to keep the report going which was not necessarily a bad thing. I rather think the German commander got it wrong though. Every time the German armour moved into the open it was annihilated and he seemed to eschew the idea of cover. I also wonder at the Tigers move down the left side of the tracks when it could have crossed to the right to get a flank shot on the tank destroyer and support its infantry. Nice table and super miniatures but, notwithstanding setup concerns, could we know if those are T-34/76s, or /85(43)s...! ah- look like /42s. If not the latter the Pz V and VI should dominate the steppe if properly handled... but the table is too small to allow their range advantages to properly manifest (what is the scale distance corner to corner please?). Anyway, which units are being represented, eg the SS Pz Corps or the wehrmacht..? This is meaningful as the battle groups seem a bit arbitrary. On the setup/scenario, there can be little doubt that the Kursk battle was essentially a set piece breakthru vs a prepared defence not a meeting engagement.. Where is the soviet wire and trenches...? And where are the 76-mm AT guns? Most important, the Kursk battle was decided by contested control of a topographic feature, the ridge that the SS Corps followed towards the state farms. Without terrain features and a huge table, the german armour cannot be represented fairly, or use its range advantages to advance methodically... anyway, enjoyed the vid thanks.
Very cool, you've definitely piqued my curiosity and got me checking your channel out!.. If I had friends I definitely think I'd enjoy playing this one haha

Next year i would like to hit the big ones, Historicon, Adepticon etc. But its interesting to hear about a "local" convention. Sorry to hear you've left the Queen City, we're always looking for players!
The Stugs were called Assault Guns, but they were better used as Tank Destroyers, deployed defensively in ambush positions. The PZ IVs were also best used defensively, or in counter attacks after the attackers were worn down. As was demonstrated in one turn, the Big Cats performed best at long range. There must have been a turn limit constraint. If not, I would have waited for them German armor to attrit the Soviets, before trying to advance on the objective. I'm not familiar with those rules.
Thanks. That was a shocking blow to Rick for sure. What we didn't explain in the video is that the forces moved onto the table in a randomized fashion that the players had no control over. So Rick was disadvantaged from the start.

What other rule sets do you play?
@@LongShotWargaming I'm also playing Chain of command which is awesome for platoon vs platoon plus tank or two per side.
@@LongShotWargaming i also really like indirect fire rules. They are good representatiom and also have this ww2 vibe. I play 1939 invasion of Poland BG and Poles are sending runners for mortar/artillery support and always have to call fire for effect. Last game I destroyed my own ft 17 tank with mortar barrage :)
@@kamikaziu Chain of Command is in our queue but we haven't played it yet. I am excited for the opportunity to drill down to the squad tactics level.
@@LongShotWargaming You should definetly try it. It is fast paced and very unique how it plays.
Really enjoyed this, thanks for posting and it’s inspired me to get my T34s on the table. 👍
Thanks for the view and comment, T-34s are great! particularly in BG.
Great report guys. Battlegroup looks like a brilliant system. Hope to see more of it.
Thanks Craig! Battlegroup stands above, particularly against more popular rules at this scale and period. Give it a try! There are a ton of campaign supplements.
Man these are some epic battles. And that terrain!
Nice game and video! 'It's Kursk, baby'! Thanks!
Best battle report I have seen great job
I know this is a stupid question but im 12 and pretty broke i can get a table but can i use airfix WW2 German infantry for units?
Absolutely! These rules will work for most scales and any manufacturer of miniatures. Your Airfix stuff will work great. All you need now is a buddy who has some Brits, Yanks, or Russians. Happy gaming.
BG is my favorite WWII tactical rules. Gread video. Thanks!
In our opinion Battlegroup is the best rule set for that scale and period. Great mechanics and fantastic supplements. Which period and scale do you play Michael?
@@LongShotWargaming I have DAK, German 2nd Panzer and Canadian 4th Armored. I was recently given a US force. I'm currently configuring it for BG. I haven't played in a while as I moved last year. Still looking for local opponents, If you know anyone in the Tehachapi CA area. Let me know. :-)
I also like Blitzkrieg Commander for larger scale battles.
That is a nice collection. The Canadians would make a great Falaise Pocket game. All will be well suited for battlegroup! Unfortunately Cincinnati Ohio is a long way from California so i wont be much help in the opponent department.
@@LongShotWargaming Alas, I'll keep looking. Cincinnati is a bit of a drive. Until I find a group, I'll have to game vicariously through your videos. Keep it up.
Im a warhammer 40k guy but this looks awsome ! Nice board looks sic. Well done.
buddy, come over to the dark side of historical miniature wargaming!
Great stuff old beans once again wargaming well presented. Shared to Military wargaming
Thanks for the view/comment/share!
@@LongShotWargaming always a pleasure gentlemen
Great form of presentation a battlereport! Please more!
Thanks Ralf! Stay tuned we have some cool projects coming up, age of sail, modern Afghanistan, ancients, and more!
Amazing work! Thank's for sharing!
What a great video! Thank you.
Thanks for the view!
awesome batrep, not enough battlegroup on youtube! will we see more soon gents?
Thanks! we've already started our next project.
@@LongShotWargaming great news!
You guy's should do board build videos. They look so good! My only question is how do you store your boards 🤣
I love battlegroup! Great battle report.
Where did you get those pin markers. Those are great! We need a hobby guide on your tables too
Brilliant rep. So jealous of your table.
Thanks!
Engaging battle report; thank you!
Thanks for the view Joe!
Thats one gorgeous table
Thanks, it was fun to build and play!
Wonderful presentation. Recently moved from the 'Nati (Liberty Townshp) and its great to see more historical gamers based there. You guys plan on attending any of the local Con's?? ATC is an exceptional convention up near Dayton. Eager to see more from the basement...
Scott, thanks for the view and comment! Believe it or not i'm relatively new to the hobby and have never attended a gaming convention. But, i plan on attending many.
Amazing gaming table. Disappointed that my faves, StuGs, all 3, are KIA at the outset.
Thanks. That was a shocking blow to Rick for sure. What we didn't explain in the video is that the forces moved onto the table in a randomized fashion that the players had no control over. So Rick was disadvantaged from the start.
Awesome game ! Absolutely loved it and the layout. How large was your table? Excellent work
Thanks Matt! our table is 6'x8' with some extra room on the ends for gaming junk.
Why now did this resurface on my recommended? Hmmm....
Best table and gaming room set up ever. It looks like a gaming studio. Is it a club facility or private? Give us a tour sometime!
Thanks Steve! The game room is in my basement.
Helloo. I like you map. You can make layout battle for france.👍
Nice selection of whisky
Thanks, we are Kentucky adjacent, the bourbon motherland.
AWSOME!!!... Nice work!!!
