@@tonytang9401 I don't play ranked because I just play for fun, I mainly play blind and draft pick. So when my *teammates* feed yi, he's unstoppable. Him and zed are just 2 champions that once fed can destroy your team, common occurrence in blind pick. I can't control other people to stop feeding, and I don't want to play ranked, so I'm probably going to move on to another game. My reasoning might not be the best, but it has nothing to do with skill, you just shoehorned that point in so you have to opportunity to point and laugh.

The main difference between the two, aside from the general pace of the game is that dota is balanced for the high immortal/pro tier and league is largely balanced for new players and the lower ranks. That is largely why league pro matches are so boring and dota pro matches are very diverse and at things like the international almost every hero is picked whereas in league there are times when no more than 15 heroes are picked at all.

@@Mei-rf2dz That's because lol pro players are very good at game and make very little amount of mistakes. They are very aware of the whole game all the time. That's why pro games have so few kills. Actually it's very intense gameplay and every move and decision counts.

Don't be lied by all those "but in lol when you die you don't lose money". In lol competitive scene right now. One stupid mistake from a support in the early game can already decide a match. Watch FPX vs G2 Worlds 2019 Final game 2 for this example. Lol in 3-4 years before used to have more combat, and it's always more fun to have more combat. Look at Dota in 2010-2011 when China turtle was the meta. I binged sleep almost all matches lol

You can watch Faker vs Ryu. Just in case - faster =/= better, but fact is that LoL is faster paced. Even Heroes of Newerth (basically a copy of DotA - which I also played after DotA) was faster paced than Dota 2.

@@alibahba9909 How much Dota have you played? I have played Dota 1 then LoL till gold 2 then moved to Dota 2. If you farm right then Dota 2 is the most exciting moba late game. LoL gets boring as the game drags on because the game starts getting repetitive. You may make a comeback by landing and dodging skills effectively but that's just drab. But in Dota you can turn the tables at any given moment and this is what makes it so interesting. You'll have so much to do late game that it never gets boring. I'll agree that the farming phase is boring but when you have the gold, there are so many tricks you can pull off and when you do it you know you made the enemy look like a fool. My personal experience, there was a match in which a CM outcarried a fed Void late game. It all happened because the CM farmed a butterfly and the Void didn't have MKB. That's like a Janna outcarrying a fed Tryndamere late game which would never happen in LoL.

It's because of the pro-play. Dota 2 gives more incentive to aggressive play than LOL. That alone makes dota 2 more enjoyable and competitive. While in LOL, you lose because of a small mistake.

I never really understood the argument slow = worse. I love Dota’s slow pace, gives me time to think ahead, strategize, take turn rates and animation time into play. Plus animation cancelling adds a layer of mindgames in both laning and fight initiation.
Although I’ve played a lot of LoL, the focus on reaction times and twitchy-ness, rather than information gathering and strategizing turned me off.
Quite the opposite for me, i prefer the reaction time based gameplay, rather than the slower pace of dota. The slow pace of dota just made farming and combat feel like a chore. I feel more in control of my Hero with the twitchier pace of league because i feel more assured that what i want to do happens when i want it to because the animations and movement are almost instantaneous to when i press the button.
But this doesnt mean that. League has no strategy or mind games. Although to a significantly lesser degree there are still things like wave control and kiting

he was in the 70 - 100 LP range and the queue put a 1000 LP challenger (highest rank) and some diamond 2s against him
the challenger had like a dozen kills and played a perfect game and he was even an ADC but they still lost because his team was weaker than tylers

There is no synchronisation at, there is no balance between the heroes, and you litterally can solo carry every game if you are just good enough in a TEAM GAME. If you put a buff man in a team with 4 mice against 4 other mice and tell them to fight, the buff mans team will obviously win, but if you put 5 buff men on one team and 5 buff men on another team... the outcome is a little bit different. That 1 buff man can no longer take out all the mice himself because the gap is no longer there

I havent watched a game like the one he showed in too long. and the games should never be like that but since they play at sucha high level sometimes the team are too scared to make a decision so they end up dragging the game out until 1 fight. but the best games are the ones where there is fighting nonstop and the teams are super bloodthirsty.

A very fair assessment of both games. I'm a League player myself and I agree with all your criticisms of it - especially pro games I mean holy crap who actually watches those for fun?
One thing I would add to the gameplay section though: although DotA may be slower, it does a better job of keeping you in the field. Because of the way League works you constantly have to recall to base to regen and buy, whereas in DotA because of things like courier and shrines your time spent out in the map doing things is higher and you don't get nearly as much downtime where you're just waiting for your character to walk back out to lane. DotA might be slow but it's much steadier in that regard.

It’s funny because you Dota players were on the receiving end of these exact jokes from us starcraft players back in the day. Mobas were viewed as RTS with one unit and without macro for years.

Dota 2 is, indeed, a game hard to get into. But do you know what's even harder? Leaving it completely after you do. You just can't. Either you're back a short or long while after, or you stick to watching gameplay videos and following the community.
Sure, its gameplay is overall slower than LoL's, but it's also more complex, and the two of those things together makes it all way more enjoyable to watch, because it gives just enough time for you to appreciate most of what's going on.

personally i really like the fact that dota is slower. even with the slower pace of dota it can be difficult to follow what happens in 5v5 teamfight. but compared to lol the teamfights are over so quickly and in such a small space it's nearly impossible to tell what's happening in a lot of teamfights.

The key part is the "easier". LoL is more interesting for the causual player, dota 2 is deeper. As E-Sports grows fast, dota 2 overs here more, which is a big advantage in the commerical area.
The TI8 international was a bomb, the games partly mind blowing, which is because the more complex mechanics. We saw one team overcome the other NEARLY, then the other team was buying back, the fight was going on and they win. Incredible stuff, just watch for yourself, the game of OG vs EG or the finals are good examples.
That is only possible BECAUSE dota 2 is slower, as shown LoL just can't offer that because the the faster kills and the overcome.
And here is BlitzSpanks wrong - you can play dota 2 alot faster (in terms of killing other heros), just it needs more work and timing. Pro Player can do that, watch the TI8 games, especially the OG games was partly havoc with action all over the screen and kill/buyback/fight again over and over.
The usual player have alot more problems of course. But well... watch a pro sports game like football, soccer or something and compare it with a school game.

You didn't talk much about DotA's pro scene, but you gotta admit it's hella good. Very supported inside of the in-game client with the battle pass and the game's main menu. Great casters, big teamfight skills have much more impact and so have more potential to be hype than in league. Also, in a big DotA tournament there are about 5 unpicked heroes where as in a League tournament, there are 20 picked champions. I like both games but the way I see it DotA is better, and league is easier to get into.
i played league of legends for 5 years and i liked it until season 11 when they added a stupid new shop and items and the champions are not the same (some champions are op/some champions are trash and no one plays them) exmple:alistar,amumu and others.after playing 2 games of ranked and playing with the most trash teams ive ever seen i decided to play dota even if i didn't know how to play it and it was nice. i saw that every hero is op and all heroes are the the same. i don't know if players are toxic but in league of legends every single game there has to be a player that only flames the team or the opponents.Dota is a better place to be :)
Ya i have to agree. I only started playing Dota cuz southeast asia servers have been giving me unplayable ping but im having a better time here.
The problem with league is that every match consists of the same heroes. It's always either a windshitter, dagger bitch, or smoke whore playing mid. ADC role is kinda irrelevant except in coordinated team games and top lane is on an island by himself not paying attention to any of the other lanes.
Hopefully riot gets their shit together in season 12.
Heroes counter each other, items also like Black King Bar, Linken for disable and ghost scepter etc etc, so its all about the teamwork not just skills, but to be honest Dota players is 10 times above the League players when you comparing about the toxic and abuse thing not gonna lie to you, especially SEA server

This is brilliant. I play both games too (which is unusual). I'm primarily a Dota 2 player, having migrated from WC3 Dota back in the day (if there's a sure-fire way to feel old in the esports community, admit that you've played WC3 from its release date - I'm 28 and I already feel like a granddad when playing Dota). Heck, I used to play WC2... I picked up LoL because my godson plays it and I have no idea how else I'm supposed to 'bond' with him, so LoL it was. I quite like it. I still prefer Dota, but I think that's more because I'm used to it. The complexity becomes enjoyable in Dota once you're used to it, but the learning curve is ridiculous. Migrating to LoL from Dota was easy. The other way around? Not so much.
Both games, and I mean this seriously, need communities to mature. It's ridiculous just how pathetic people can get about a sodding game. Even when you watch RUclips videos or competitive games on Twitch, typically people's comments are juvenile and banal, with plenty of expletives thrown in. Compare that to 'real' sport (which I also play) - people who comment will typically provide well-argued answers, or at least informed ones. Really not the case in MOBAs. Being a noob shouldn't be a bad thing. When you take a new competitive sport, people are typically encouraging - they'll make an effort to coach you and raise your morale. Take up Dota, make a mistake, and you'll spend the rest of the game being flamed.

I love both, but I can't even play dota anymore. It's worse than league to me, as everygame I get I either have people who don't speak English (I have had about 4-5 games in the past two YEARS where this happened, so rare I can remember the number. Compared to dota 2's every single game where nobody speaks English on my team..) and just ruin the game because you can't communicate. Or you get more toxic people than in fucking league, it's surprising. I originally loved Dota 2, but because of that I just quit because it was so hard to do anything.

Yeah the toxicity is a major problem. My view is that the mmr/elo systems of both games are just silly. For instance, I've played on just one Dota 2 account ever since I started. It records my games from when I had literally no idea what I was doing to now, so of course I calibrated low. Since then, I've been climbing, but it's so, so slow. Going up 1000 mmr requires a net of 40 wins, and that takes an extremely long time, even with a respectable 60% winrate like I have in ranked. Every loss is an hour wasted. It'll be interesting to see how the new season calibration system works for this.
That's part of what I mean about maturity. The gaming community as a whole is young. It's part of the reason I rarely play solo ranked anymore and mostly stick with friends.

But now, even kids a third my age use the word noob as a replacement for a myriad of expletives which turns it into a hateful insult. I too started moba on icefrog's first versions of dota on wc3. but back then, toxicity was at a bare minimum and most players have sportsman like attitude and outlook. now, you have trolls and flamers. i wish i could go back to those simple days when you just want to enjoy a game regardless of the outcome. cheers mate!

Sun strike is one of Invoker's skills (it can be used anywhere) and players going to their lane or still buying items will immediately get hit in order for them to get delayed so that your team has the advantage in placing wards or getting the bounty rune.
So yeah, violence do start before the creeps spawn or specifically 2 seconds or less if the Invoker is fast violence starts.

@@bencegergohocz5988 old dota really depends on hard carry. sf or drow can easily 1 vs 5. but why they changed? because they want to create snail plays and you got the chance turn. in old dota when your carry 6 slotted missplay and wrong item build does not really affect. enemy can just die and respawn again just to watch me kill them without breaking the ancient , change the item by selling it and buy a new one (for fun). but now im afraid i cant do that, even im in 4400 as a core and i still havent master the invoker yet

I mean, from their ancestor, Guinsoo and Icefrog, league was meant to be superior.
Guinsoo basically created a new game out of dota all-star. With his immense creativity he made the biggest game in the world, the never dying league of legends.
While Icefrog after probably preparing for some good years, came out and create dota2 which is an exact copy of dota all-star, just with difference in graphics. He lacks zero creativity. After getting sued by blizzard, they change their hero models, names etc a bit but they're still basically the same. Dota2 is honestly an embarrassment of a game.

Dota 2 has statistically more unique moves, which makes it easier to differenciate heros in the map. Which also makes the game have awe inspiring team fights.

Actually dota slow gameplay makes it more thinkable to decide decision and usually just become too slow in early game because of their hero stat(ms and as) are low.
Basically:
LoL is for casual gamers.
Dota2 is for hardcore gamers.

To be fair as a lol player I tried to get into dota 2 and while it didn’t feel more harder mechanically. It’s just soooooo much more to get into.
Might just be me being older and not having the fuking time anymore but damn I had an headache from Dotas items stats ect. Yeah I know it would have gotten better after a while but old brainfart me just dosnt have it in him anymore xd. Probably played yasuo once to often 🤣.

I have been playing League since S5 and Dota 2 since yesterday. I have gone through the pain that is starting Dota 2. However, I am enjoying Dota 2 better.
The matchmaking in League sucks, every other game there WILL be a troll on your team. The balance team is run by a bunch of apes. I miss when I could play Ornn and not be oneshotted in 0.04 seconds by an Evelynn, but who knows maybe im just salty.
One you still haven't seen Dota 2 toxicity if you started playing it yesterday. I played before and then returned after two years a week ago. First 5 matches were over in 3 minutes cause my teammates either abandoned, afked or trolled and fed. One death is all it takes to be flamed.
Also matchmaking put me with a guy that was playing his fourth game of dota ever against a doom with over 3k games on doom so gg

If you guys want some realistic or more strategic then I suggest dota 2
It seemed kinda hard but if you keep hanging on it you'll eventually learn.
1. Your items/hero does really depends on which enemy hero you encounter
2. It isn't impossible to comeback
3. Has a wider map
4. Strategy and outplays (Depends on ally, wards, creeps, etc. very very useful on teamfights or team's gold)
5. For me it has better graphics but it really doesn't matter
6. It takes time to build up or master a hero which makes it challenging
7. Fun toxic teammates (Inevitable)
8. Great changeable skins, terrain, wards, announcer, etc.

I find Dota to be way more fun to just play. You can do some wild funny stuff in that game. League has no creativity at all and every game plays the same. League is arcade like and Dota feels like the real thing. Dota feels like a video game while league feels like a fake video game, while still being a fun video game with friends.
I find the skill shot and fast paced nature of league way harder to understand, I thought I’d never understand Dota but I feel I know way more about Dota than league despite playing way less Dota. I feel Warcraft in Dota and that’s awesome. The slow paced nature of Dota lets people who just think better win. They’re both fun but as a video game, I think Dota is a way better video game. In league you need 1 top 1 mid 1 jung and 2 bot… Dota 2 you just go whoever haha it’s way more free.

When I played League it didn't matter what skill bracket I played in, everyone was toxic and you could get reported and banned for just about anything.
I dropped League after playing it for over 5 years and spending around 2 grand in the game on skins. Now I play Dota and after spending 200ish bucks (a tenth the cost of League) I have great skins on almost every hero and I don't have issues with talking to people and just having fun in general. I also have found a hell of a lot less intentional feeders and straight up noobs that I could not get away from in League of Legends.
If I ever performed poorly in Dota (which is pretty rare but it can happen) people actually gave me advice and helped me rather than just bitching at one another for no reason.
And then there is the GLORIOUS arcade which is where I spend all of my Dota in-game hours.
That being said play whichever you find better because no one can decide that for you.

2:45 yeah of course lets show the speed difference of Gameplay between LoL and Dota. Shows LoL: 2 Teamfights with Yasuo and Kha zix with fast music in background. Shows Dota: 1 simple Kill against an Enemy who tries to TP back and a simple Gank with Shadowblade SF for just 2 Kills... yeah it looks pretty fair.

Look at the pick/ban percentages of both games. In the 2016 playoff season, only ~42% of League's entire pool was used whereas Dota 2 saw almost every single hero selected at some point (96% pick/ban at TI6). When the pros pick less than half of all playable characters in a game, you know there's a serious balancing issue. It's almost as if pro teams in League are scared to try anything outside of the most popular champions.

As a divine 2 player and a platinum 3 player I can safely say both games are aids in its purest form. Still enjoy playing ranks tho 👌
