He was doing so well! And then "butterfly" was said...an honest mistake obviously, but I love this gentleman's enthusiasm for these awesome critters! Very contagious!
This is very helpful. We recently found a rustic sphinx moth and now we found a Caterpillar from it on our cherry tomato plant....just munching away even eating the green cherry tomatoes! We are going to raise it to see if it's the rustic sphinx moth that we saw a few days ago. Thanks for the tips! It's so exciting!
I showed my son this video. In my yard they are tomato horn worms. And they eat my tomatoes. When we find them they are moved to another nightshade plant to munch away. Must work because we have lots oh hummingbird moths every year. They especially like the butterfly bushes. You guys would have fun saving fun bugs. Thanks again for all your fun stuff to watch
Thank you for the end caterpillar pictures. Now I know what I found while trimming my bush. Wow, I had no idea what it was but it's coloring was 🤩 I put it in my butterfly enclosure with dirt etc. It was less than an inch long. Now it's almost 4.5 inches long. I hope I'm doing what's right so it'll survive. Yes, I'm very excited since I've only seen one in my life.
I'm keeping Carolina Sphinx Moths right now, and I mix honey with water and put 2 paper towels on top and they drink that. They live in a butterfly vivarium. Im not able to release them, one of them is missing an eye and it's too cold right now.
i got horn worms for my bearded dragon and she didn’t want them so i’m keeping them but the only problem is that it’s winter.. i knew i couldn’t release them but i have no idea how to care for them when they turn into moths

Put it in soil and leave it for 2 weeks, make sure it still gets a day-night cycle. If you are putting the pupae in a terrarium make sure to put sticks so the emerging moth can climb up and dry its wings

Do they defend themselves with the horn at the end of there back
Theo brother- raw honey dilute they can eat if you are raising them to be a part of the cycle of lizard life:)

You may need a wooden skewer to gently roll their proboscis out the first time, but if you get the mixture right they can smell it very well.
