Thank you for sharing your story. We are so very sorry for your loss. Sharing far and wide. There have been enough personal tragedies caused by distracted driving ... enough already! No text, no call, no task, no distraction is worth taking or losing a life.
good on u for taking responsibility for your actions! it takes a real adult to know they were in the wrong & take ownership for that. now focus on righting your wrong & moving forward! my deepest condolences for andrea’s friends & family💜
This video was very sad. This poor family. My heart hurts for them so much. This video needs to be shown in every school. The distracted driving has to stop before more precious lives are lost.
He only served 120 days and was on probation for 3 years. It's not court ordered, but he goes to high schools and talks to the students about distracted driving now.
imo he will always in jail (in his mind). His decision made a real life changing event, effecting a lot of people. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't already have nightmares because this (reliving it over and over). Not that it's horrible for only him, but I don't envy what he has to live with. And Especially the father and his family. I hope this message here saves someone.
How very very sad !! I watched this as a soon to be drivers education teacher. I will for sure use this video to educate young drivers on distracted drivers. Andrea was such a beautiful person and mom. This happens too often and we need to do something so this never happens again. People are not stopping this kind of behavior - I believe there is technology out there that can shut phones down in cars - will they have the guts to do that? Wake up ! No one should have to bury the love of their life because some used a phone when it should have been off !
This is sooooooo true. My own drivers education teacher here in The Netherlands hammered it into us. Driving is 75% looking. Looking, looking, looking. If something discards you... ignore it. Be completely aware what is happening in front of you, behind you, at your sides. During my own exam in 2004 I ran an orange light (on purpose). The examiner later asked me why I did that. I explained we had a big BMW on our tail and I was not sure if he could stop in time when I would make an emergency stop. I got my license and a pat on the back. Full awereness pays off. Still feels good today and I've never been in an accident, though you never know what someone is (not) doing while driving. I keep my eyes open and try to drive safely.
I'm a city bus driver I look into everyone's car when I am behind them or beside them because I need to be aware of my surroundings every second to protect my passengers and community the best I can and EVERY single driver has a phone I. Hand sorry to say and all young drivers need to have phones deactivated until the car is pulled over and stopped 😔😔😔😔
So sad :-( I hate it when I see people using their phones whilst driving or even getting distracted I've had a few near misses before and it scared me :-(
The lady who hit us, wrecked our car and our spines, didn't even get a ticket. We will be dealing with our injuries for the rest of our lives and she didn't even get a ticket! Yes, we are alive, but now we our in pain everyday of our lives.
The lady who hit us, wracked our car and spines, didn't even get a ticket. We will be dealing with our injuries for the rest of our lives and she didn't even get a ticket yes ,we are alive, but now we our in pain everyday our lives
Thanks for creating this video. It is such a necessary reminder in our phone obsessed culture. I have shared it on my Facebook page on hopes it will help others to avoid using their phones while driving. Such a tragic incident that occured because of a one second poor decision.
People say that a text isn't worth a death -- but society actively punishes you if you don't answer a text ASAP no matter what you are doing. I can't count how many times I got a text while driving and if I didn't answer right away, the person texting me would send more texts and the passengers in the car would pressure me to answer the texts. I never once got "kudos" for ignoring a text while driving. I've only been punished for not answering a text. That's how society is. Honestly, nobody gives a crap if you are driving. Society says to answer the text and answer it now.
Wow! Really? If I send a text and it's not answered right away I don't get mad. If I receive a text while driving I don't sweat it. I wait until I get home, apologize to the person that sent me the text for taking so long to respond and I tell them I was driving and they're not mad at all.
This is so heartbreaking. Nobody should have to go through that. Safer trails and paths away from car traffic would be helpful too for more vulnerable road users. Very sad.
I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweaty. This rocked me to my core. As a father of two lovely girls myself I cannot fathom having to raise my girls alone without my inspiration. She (my wife) is responsible for everything I think that has given me good in my life. This husband is an inspiration to not only his family but everyone around the world after seeing this video. To see any silver lining in such a horrible tragedy is amazing. He definitely is a great father for his wisdom and for sure his forgiveness. If there was anything that deserves a golden thumbs up, this would be it. Share the link to this video to at least one person. Hopefully you all will be responsible for saving someone's life.
It isn't just loan payments too. It's crazy how many people think multi tasking while driving is 100% okay. It doesn't matter what you do. Take your eyes off the road or even just being distracted in your mind and things like this happen. While driving to work (one way 15 miles) I've seen people put on make-up, comb hair, shave, pop a zit and even reading while driving (plus more). I myself was guilty of eating while driving. This even is bad. Trying to eat and quickly fix a driving mistake is impossible (especially one handed). I hope everyone can learn from these people. The guy in the orange jumpsuit made life changing decisions. I hope we all do too but for the better. No one wants to feel as ashamed and as horrible as he does. Wish you all safe travels. God be with you.
A girl was just KILLED by a distracted driver while using his lifesafer interlock device, they are EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We see drivers on their phones all the time in Florida. And it isn’t just young people. I hate driving on a two lane road where there’s no where to go if a distracted driver crosses the center line. Defensive driving is now becoming a battlefield.
Almost no comments, very few viewings of this video. Sums it all up.....Americans feel incredibly entitled and refuse to accept laws that save lives. And so the carnage on American roads are one of the worst statistically compared to other countries and continues to this day unabated. SHAME, SHAME.
I am just your average driver, and I think that accidents can happen here and there----even to the best of drivers....BUT...If someone hits me while they are distracted/texting/drunk I WILL be suing your A$$. No "maybe"... you WILL be hearing from a lawyer-no holds barred. It is a 100% preventable accident.
I don't have kids but I grew up somewhat with my 2 nieces we got along they are very nice ladies very smart I made bad choices I didn't drink and drive but I did get in with people who did drink behind the wheel the reason is sickening alot of times they had the money and drugs while in rehab I saw the video's it took me to the ground I took it very seriously then telling people I won't get in if your drinking but their I was doing it so take a fools advice don't drink and or drug their are 100s of victoms mothers fathers Ect the community I would recommend the video's to anyone I hope I helped in someway God bless the victims and family's
Nothing quenches the pain or the memory of that one call. The one you didn't want, hoped you'd never get and always wish you could change. Not every life sentence puts someone in jail...forever. Family members are many times dragged kicking and screaming into a public limelight they never imagined occupying in their entire life, "Trying to prevent what happened to them from happening to ANYONE else". Those family members, who do answer the request to make a statement, have no way of knowing if the message they put out has influenced anyone. Yet, they do it anyway. Even though there are no statistics for events that "DO NOT HAPPEN". I would also remind everyone that the parents of Andrea suffer unbelievable agony too, especially her mother and the man who lost his "little girl". Been there, done that.
He did wrong first, but at least he stopped, at least he didn't deny what he'd done. Doesn't give her her life back, but it's better than fleeing the scene, or denying responsibility.
This is absolutely heart wrenching! My heart is breaking for the Boeve family and the journey they have to take through life without their beautiful Andrea. But my heart is also breaking for the Mr. Weber, obviously devastated by his decision, who will have to spend the rest of his life knowing he was responsible for the death of a beautiful, young mom and the heartache of her family and friends. I can’t imagine carrying such a terrible burden. I have to be honest and say that until I discovered a “distracted driver” video on my feed, I would occasionally text while driving. But these stories have opened my eyes to how quickly you can destroy the life of innocent human beings, as well as your own, when you allow your eyes to leave the road ahead of you. Now I turn my cell phone off, put it in my purse, and put my purse in the backseat before I sit in my car. I’ve also begun paying attention to other drivers, and it terrified me to realize how many people are texting and driving; talking to a passenger in their car with their eyes focused on the passenger seat or rear view mirror instead of on the road; reaching for something on the floor, in the seat next to them or the back seat; doing their make-up, etc. It’s a miracle there aren’t even more accidents than there are!
And for Chris, don't say: "Next time you pick your phone while driving", say "Never ever use your phone again while driving! Sorry for the innocent family.
Some will demonize the man who hit them But I see a man who made a mistake and would apologize to Andrea if she was still here Forgive yourself, forgive others, and live life
This unfortunate accident should be shown to all learner drivers before they are allowed on the road in Britain they should show this at the end of all theory tests as a reminder to drivers as to how easy it is be distracted when using a PHONE
Why do some drivers think it is alright to talk or text...on-call doctors have hands free cell phones. They have life and death real reasons to respond😢😢😢
Distracted driving is not safe and to see something like this happen is not ok. Distracted driving cannot only cost your life but can cause others their lives to. Not to mention that the risk that is involved and what other outcomes could happen from a distracted driver accident.

Manslaughter or straight up murder. If you are behind the wheel, not paying attention, using that idiotic mobile device and you kill someone. You were using your vehicle as a weapon..
If you break the law and someone is killed it becomes a felony .. to say he was using his car as a weapon means he ran her down deliberately .. which was NOT the case 😉👍🏽
eight second ruined two family, if you are in rig need to park safely then check your cell phone, take break for 15min. rather killing someone within seconf
When cell phones we’re new, yes I’m older, there was a PSA by ATT&T about four lives ruined by texting and driving. It affected me in profound way and I DO NOT look at my phone when I’m driving. The loss I could cause would be devastating for me, so I don’t want to imagine the pain I would cause someone else. I have lost a friend to distracted driving and though it hurt it’s nothing compared to the pain his wife and kids felt because someone selfishly decided their text was more important than their responsibility to protect others from their bad behavior.
Just a few days before this happened I survived a bus side swiping me while riding my bike, taken on video: ruclips.net/video/puOXHOlBZqg/видео.html RIP Andrea, my thoughts are with the family. And the driver, thanks for taking the courage to admit your mistake and to make it into something that could help others.
The thing is, he MIGHT not have seen her even if he wasn't on the phone. But we'll never know! Can't be sure he was even LOOKING at his phone, but rven if not he was probably DISTRACTED!! It's not worth taking a chance.
If someone said I only drank and drove 1 time I'm willing to bet that's a lye keep your money because I'll win a guy in prison will say I'm only in for impaired driving make your choice but be prepared to do the time and caring the burden if u kill someone especially if it's a kid or in my case smashed up for getting in with a fool that drank behind the wheel
My Mom and Dad used to take me and my siblings out for bike rides in a stroller not unlike theirs... absolutely heart breaking to hear a story like this. Occasionally I've heard people talk about texting/calling while driving in an offhanded or casual manner, and it always bumps their character down in my mental notes. Sickening stuff.
I don't even like those so-called Hands Free Phones . . . makes no difference . . Full attention should always be on the roads and traffic . . . Enough is Enough . .no more excuses
I'm so sorry this happened. I was never brave enough to ride my bike on a narrow 2-lane highway, especially if I was carting my two babies. At least he admitted to it all. God bless all of you.
I'm 60 now, 42 when I got my driving license. And my driving teacher always said "Driving is looking, looking and looking! Don't get distracted!". This video hurts so much bc there are always loved ones, people you hug every day, say hello to and kiss. And suddenly everything falls apart. I can identify with that. Maybe it is time for technology to solve this, partially because they created it in the first place. There are plenty of apps out there to help stop texting and driving. Make them part of driving lessons, getting/having/keeping your license. "CellControl, LifeSaver, DriveMode, TrueMotionFamily, iOnRoad" and plenty more. Maybe a good thing to make this mandatory for every driver in the world. When you are driving a vehicle, you have one thing and one thing only to care for: driving safely. When you keep your car (boat, plane, you name it...) safe, you keep all occupants safe. To me it wouldn't be a bad thing when cell phones just disallow communication/texting etc. when in transit. Someone wants/needs to text/mail/SMS? When it's important... find a suitable parking lot and do your thing. Everything is better than your loved ones rushing to a hospital and ... if things really go south ... that last text definitely wasn't worth it.
Thank you for sharing your story. We are so very sorry for your loss. Sharing far and wide.
There have been enough personal tragedies caused by distracted driving ... enough already!
No text, no call, no task, no distraction is worth taking or losing a life.
Drop It And Drive It was NOT worth all of this.
good on u for taking responsibility for your actions! it takes a real adult to know they were in the wrong & take ownership for that. now focus on righting your wrong & moving forward! my deepest condolences for andrea’s friends & family💜
The trouble is, everyone thinks 'it won't happen to me' but it can....

The electronic world has cost innocent lives because people can’t keep the phone out of reach or leave it until your parked.
Don't be a distracted driver because of a stupid phone. Just pull over people. Look what could happen, and feel it.
10 years gone in june,,,love to the family. 🇦🇺
all it takes is one second to change everything
When you drive every second of safe driving counts.

Very, very sad. What a waste of life and another life now burdened with guilt.
Oh man.... This is extremely heartbreaking to watch this. Kind of feel bad too for the guy who did it.
Man this video should be played at all trucking company's
And SCHOOLS!
This is a training we take where I work before approved to drive a company vehicle
I met Andrea's cousin in drivers ed today he talked about her it was really sad
She looked like a beautiful woman with a bright future and the kind of love that cannot ever be replaced 💔💔😔😔😔
I love Minnesota so much
This is so heartbreaking, sorry for your loss 😢
As a truck driver, I cannot count in a single hour how many drivers I see distracted. It’s not hard, focus on driving.

Don't know where u got THAT info. Nobody but really Nobody is more important than YOU, and the people on the road with you. Leave it til you Park it.
So heart breaking, so sad
Stop call cell phone activity, text & calls IN EVERY STATE NOW!💔

Distracted driving kills. Making that loan payment could've waited until he got home.

PARK your vehicle. Make your payment. Toss the phone in the back seat or in the trunk. Bless her husband.
This is the thing - texting creates no memories. People let that time fall into a dark hole. Well, don't do it while you're DRIVING!
So so sorry for your loss
God bless this family 🙏🙏🙏💔💔💔😔😔😔 beautiful wife , children 🙏 ❤ ♥ 💕 I would absolutely die if I ruined someone's life like this😔😔😔💔💔💔
Then they should also teach phone safety in the military sense you didn't have the natural ability to know this simple fact.

Chris Weber went to my school and talked about not texting and driving! I feel very sorry and yet happy for him!
So sad....

I feel bad for the family. I DONT feel bad for the driver on his phone. No excuse.
this is something every driver should see before they start driving , I see this every day driving down the road, its as dangerous as drunk driving
And for Chris, don't say: "Next time you pick your phone while driving", say "Never ever use your phone again while driving! Sorry for the innocent family.

Someone was looking out for you that day. God bless

Close your eyes open them now ,,',,,,,,, the one you love the most is on the floor twisted bleeding broken unrecognisable 🩸 text you to can have this
I don't even like those so-called Hands Free Phones . . . makes no difference . . Full attention should always be on the roads and traffic . . . Enough is Enough . .no more excuses
Cops need to stop looking at their laptop while driving. Set the example please. Have them disabled while moving. So hypocritical and wrong
