We’ve lost too many people in the rock/metal community to mental health issues over the years. Kurt Cobain, Cliff Burton, Chester Bennington, Chris Cornell, Trevor Strnad, and so many others. It’s always heartbreaking to hear when someone’s story ends this way. But James is completely right, we’re not alone. No matter what we’re going through, someone else out there is going through something similar. And music is something that unites us all as a human race, something that allows us to share our experiences in a way that everyone can understand. And sometimes, all someone needs is to feel like they belong, like they’re a part of something. Sometimes, all we need to do to make that happen is to show it. Give a helping hand. Do something to show someone you love how much you value them. Just be kind, show compassion and acceptance. Maybe that random stranger on the street that you do a quick favor for needed that short exchange, maybe you brightened their whole day with that short exchange. If we can all strive to show others how values they are, than maybe it’ll save lives.

He can’t go on forever and possibly the pressure of having to do the shows and play the old music might be taking its toll. I would respect his decision to slow down, this won’t be a one off and I fear it happens again. Love Metallica and always will but James will need to put himself first what ever that might be.
Love it, it is truly incredible that they're still out there, still touring, sounding as good, if not better than ever, at their age
I love these guys and Metallica, i'm very sad that due to money issues i couldn't go to see them when they came here in Argentina, but i will always support them and listen to them. They are my favorite band since I was a kid, i'm almost 21 years old. Metallica is just amazing, healing music to me. I wish the best for these guys, and i hope that i will someday see them live for the first time.
James is married to an argentinian.. Your country have beautiful beautiful women. Salud de los Estados Unidos.
@@xviphoenix69 That's cool to hear from someone of another country! i knew that about his wife, and you can actually see in some of the makings of Hardwired videos that he drinks mate, which is a common cultural drink here in my country, it is kinda similar to tea, just so you know :)
@@HeavyRaiden That's awesome my friend 👍
Your not alone James. Im here for you and i got your back. Love you dude.
All the best to you James. You’re a legend.
❤️
Well done Mr.Heitfeld. Showing your struggles will help so many people in a similar situation.
WOW he is a humble man he just earn respect from me.
Will always be THE KING OF RIFFS.
I don't know of another band that has a better relationship with their fans. It's great to see the support Het has from his bandmates too.
That clip was awesome!!
My dad is old, growing up besides him makes me feel safe. He's strong. But seeing him growing older and older like today, he is struggling now. And i hate it to see it because it hurts me and seeing James Hetfield struggling too because of aging is really tough to handle.
I was at the show myself... it was one of the most touchy moments of my life. Goddamn!
No worries Mr.Hetfield....
Your bandmates will always support you....and ur fans are always there with u and will enjoy each and every moments of urs....😄
I'm a big Metallica fan and I respect what James said!
This man is amazing! My biggest influence in music full stop. Love Metallica and always will. have kids of my own and Metallica are the first band I have introduced them to. Keep rockin Brothers! We all have hard times, It's friends and family that keep us going first! Music is also a massive part of what keeps me going. If it wasn't for These guys doing what they do I wouldn't be here right now. Helped me through my bad/hard times! Thank you Metallica!! ❤🤘
Wow, even though metallica isn’t my favorite band (I’m more of a megadeth girl), this was a beautiful moment and touching. Really nice to see his band mates and the metal community come together so much and James be vulnerable in a setting where the men are expected to be tough all the time (especially from the era metallica formed in).
genuinely almost brought me to tears, it shows everyone that they too, are human and that they are amazing people
Everything about Hetfield and his friends is great, can’t wait to see them for the first time on my 18th!
Normally James would say "Do you want heavy? Metallica gives you heavy!" Before going into Sad But True, but damn this really was heavy.
We got your back James. We got your back Metallica.
I respect James for this so much! Takes alot of courage to admit to that especially on such a big stage. Your music has helped me through plenty of tough times.
James is the coolest man alive, period
James Hetfield is my hero. Its awesome to show vulnerability like this. Mental health is not a joke and even the strongest amongst us suffer in silence. Its inspiring to see him be so open about this.
Absolutely. Metal is all "Metal!!!!" all the time. The fact that James Hetfield is willing to stand on stage in front thousands of people and be vulnerable, open and willing to share how he feels is awesome. I applaud his courage. Not an easy thing to do. He's always been one of my favorite frontman. Super cool dude.
Knowing a man like James goes through struggles and can be open and vulnerable with the fans like this really puts mental health in perspective. To see how the band comes around him really shows the strength of the bond the band has. We the fans love you and Rob and Kirk and Lars. You are the best front man ever to do it James!
I was at this show... this embrace felt so genuine and it was the one of the main topics of post-concert conversation with my wife... First time I saw them live was 23 Years ago, I was a teenager, teared up all concert, knew all lyrics. This time, teared up, knew all lyrics
Much love and respect for having the balls to open up like that on stage in front of thousands. At the same time, those thousands are apart of the Metallica family as am I. Been a die hard fan since i was 9 years old whenever the black album came out and never looked back! We love you James, YOU are not alone! And neither are we ❤👊🤙🤘
Master of Keeping It Real
Rock on James!! I'm an old guy's who can't play anymore.
Metallica are such legends! And this just shows that they will always be there for each other, which is what it's all about! Big respect to Grampa James! We love you bro!!!!!
I love james n all entire band members including the past member..grown up with metallica is one of the best thing i had in my life n of course james played in my small country malaysia 8 years ago in 2014 and one of the best moment in my life...keep storng n steady james luv ya
My dad had a massive stroke last year and hasn't been the same, on top of that my wife decided to move to Alabama to be with her best friends husband after she passed away.
Whatever it is, your not alone! We all have problems in our lives and if your depressed speak out!
He is 58 and crushing it.
For his age and despite his past issues, he is still in good shape. I still need to see them live.
This is completely beautiful. Hairs stood up on my arms.....
you can only respect james for being so open and honest
James Hetfield has helped me with my struggles in life, his lyrics have forged it’s way into my heart forever and he’s literally helped me when I was at my darkest time, I tip my hat off to Papa Het and have the upmost respect and love for this man.
Love you James.
I was there. Had the chance to hear his words, and happily understand has an english speaker! James rocks, Metallica rocks, long live heavy metal and all our metal GODS! |m|_
He's an amazing guy, I hope only the best for him!
I watched them live in Buenos Aires last month, and they're doing so many shows... I never realized that till this day following them along during the tour.
That is very tiring and energy demanding for sure, so I understand that he (and the rest of the band too) may feel that way from time to time.
I really appreciate all the effort they put to bring incredible shows, and for 40 years now!
Viva Metallica!
When they all hugged, that was beautiful 🥲 Love you, James and Metallica! Just goes to show we all struggle from time to time, even our heroes. Glad James has them supporting him and that he didn't let himself stay down.
James is wise ( comes with age) We are One 🤘🏴
Good man! Takes a good man to reach out or even admit these things! We’re all routing for you James you changed all our lives and mine would be immeasurably much worse without Metallica & their music! Took me on a lifelong journey! Love you papa het!!!!
Had a friend open up to me recently, he started to tear up.
He says sorry, i promised myself i wouldn't cr...(I stopped him right there)
and said
"HEy, I promised myself
i WOULD cry"
I was at their show here in São Paulo, Brazil, on May, 10th, and I can assure you all: they are amazing as they always were, especially James, who has impressioned me with his voice, despite his age.
Long live to Metallica!!!
nothing but positive love!!! I cant imagine what it's like to be in his shoes
We love you James. Don’t worry about nothing.
James, You Must Know, how much fans adore and support you..all over the world. I love you, you are awesome..🙏
Not easy being on the road touring the world day after day, night after night.. lack of sleep then anxieties you name it.
James hasn't lost any of his right hand, still a beast.
I was in São Paulo gig last week and they're still incredible. Top notch performance
Always an inspiration to me. I struggle. I've always struggled. Thank you, Papa.
God i feel so bad for james how he is so in his own head about being too old to play. The man is literally a rock legend and if he stopped playing guitar tomorrow he’s still be hailed as one of the greats. WE LOVE YOU JAMES.
I'll always love these guys.
“What would Hetfield do” continues to be the best life advice.
The gratitude this guys have has definitely kept Metallica alive through all these years 🤟🏾
