I went to event here in Washington. I am handicapped, so walking is difficult for me. I was aware there was a Mexican Restaurant one block from the event. I called them the day beforehand, asked if I could park there and I was willing to pay. The owner called me back, that evening thanked me for respecting the business, said yes (because I asked nicely). He would provide me a note to put in my window on there business letter head. Next day I parked in the distant corner got the note and was gone 4 hours. I went in to thank them again before I left. The manager told me he had already had 8 cars towed. I had never eaten there before. Now it's my favorite Authentic Mexican restaurant. And I know them all by name. It pays to do the right thing. ❤️

I got to see the softer side of my hero and I almost shed a tear….I said 😅! For those people getting towed at Walgreens, it wouldn’t matter if you had signs at every space (facing both sides) and a line of signs around the building, they would still find a reason to park there and claim they didn’t know they weren’t supposed to.
That rod run is the gift that keeps on giving 😂

100% on point with that comment. It used to be great though. Over the last 20 years it’s just become a joke. We gave up on it 8 years ago when police started writing excessive noise tickets. WTF? It’s a hotrod run they are going to be loud.

Well, not exactly. They asked for clarification on why it was towed, and they got their answer, they should have left it at that, not continued repeating themselves and whining.

The free parking that the young lady pulled up on Google. Easily explained. Walgreens doesn't charge customers to park in their lot. So it will show free parking.

I am a retired retail manager for a large retail chain. I had situations where commuters were using my parking lot to park their cars while they were commuting to work and were taking spaces from employees and the best spaces used by my customers. I put notes on the cars, that I had observed doing this, warning that the cars would be towed. The practice was solved except for one car and this person liked a nice shady spot. He got towed and the practice ended.
Every single Walgreens I’ve ever been to has the exact same signs! 30 minutes. Customer Parking. Towed at the owners Expense. Have they crawled out from under a rock?!!

Never assume you can park for free in parking lots in any city
You cant even park for free at Hospitals in the city anymore. Hubby was in Hospital for 1 month and I was there everyday - all day. Cost me $33.00 a day on weekdays and $11.00 for the day on weekends. There is no free parking anywhere in inner city Melbourne. We live a 4 hour drive from the city so I had motel fees as well. Sometimes I parked at a train station and used public transport but hated going on that at night by myself.
It looks like Walgreens is the new 5 Guys.

Something that folks don't ever add into the equation is the hours you put in going to and waiting at the lot for the folks to come pick up their vehicles. Time is being consumed and it is your time. That costs money. Another great video.
They also don't count the amount of time Jeff spends on the phone repeating the address.

All the people need to do, is go in the store and say hey can we park there. I used to drive truck and go to Walmart get groceries and talk to the manager and ask can we stay here for the night and leave in the morning. Usually they say sure.
I seriously get annoyed when people say “ there were empty spots everywhere. THAT DOESN’T MATTER. If it has a sign that says anything about no parking or employee parking then stay the heck away. No matter if the whole lot was empty. Eyeyeyeyey🙄🙄

Also why did you walk to The Island instead of drive there where there is free parking. Google is NOT always correct!!! I work in a building that USED to have a Medicaid office. USED to. Several YEARS ago. People still show up and walk right by the signs saying that office moved and are furious at us about it. Like Google said it, so we must be lying. It's so bad sometimes that I regret taking a job in that office.

I love watching the auto loader work for some reason. I even own/operate a 25’ rollback myself, but there’s just something so magical about seeing the wheel-lift scoop up a car and take it for a ride against it’s will!

Been to Gatlinburg several times. We leave the car at the hotel we are staying at and use the trolley. We actually tried to warn someone parking at the church and they told us to " mind our own business". Oh well! Too bad, they got towed. There is a nice parking deck behind the aquarium.

I know someone that owns a home in Gatlinburg. She often leases the home out to friends. The first statement she makes to everyone that leases her cabin is there is no free parking in Gatlinburg and no visitor should chance it when parking. She says pay and you don't have to pray you are at risk of being towed.
In that part of Tennessee, just live by the mantra of if you’re not paying you’re wrong.

It was nice of you to give the pharmacist back the vehicle, but it should be the managers responsibly to cover your expenses. Not that you have to but the manager should be very clear in the future as that could become a liability issue.

They just don't get this you tow what you're told to tow thing at all, do they? It's not come over and pick the one you fancy.
You absolutely should raise your prices during large events. Hotels have always done it. It’s simple supply and demand. When the demand for a service increases and the amount of people/companies performing that service remains the same, prices go up. People need to understand that during events, holidays, and even just on weekends, prices are higher because there are more people consuming those services. Its not rocket science.
I just re-watched this video for like the second or third time. I don't understand how they could think that anywhere on Walgreen's parking lot, that one part of it would be open-season for anyone to park there for several hours. I just don't think that carries any weight. Businesses own, either through outright ownership or through long-term lease, but that parking is provided for customers of the business. You two have everything you can do to keep up with the costs of doing business, especially during these major events, and trying to make a living and pay your bills, I just don't understand the mind-set of folks who think they're just entitled to park anywhere they please. They moved their car for at least 4 times the length allowed for customers of the business! Jeff and Kristen, you two are human and mistakes easily happen. I worked in the legal field for 45+ years as support staff. I think one of the Duck Dynasty Robertsons coined the phrase that we are a "flawed but forgiven people". I make lots of mistakes, I'm human, and I do make my share of mistakes, maybe more! LOL! May God bless you and yours always.
In California we're only required to have signs at any point of entry to the area where parking is available so if there's one driveway in and out only have to put a sign up at the driveway if there's two have to put a sign up on each driveway and so forth but I hear the same thing I also drive a tow truck and do those kind of tows from time to time and funny enough I hear the same stories seems like it's a universal excuse
Price should go up every time someone complains about the fee. Level of increase directly related to how rude they are about it. 😂

I’m from Morristown I’ve been going to the Rod Run since the 80’s. I’ve never been towed, but I can understand some of the confusion. Some folks see the cars in the first row that’s open for the state right of way and either assume or are told incorrectly they can park in the lot. Either way, they need to look at the signs to be sure. Keep up the good work!

I might be wrong in my identification of the green leafy vegetable matter on the front of her shirt, but it sure does explain their assumption that the parking was free. But I doubt it.

Parking signage is bad in your area, no doubt about that. The hotel/Church parking lot is basically your bread and butter. I am told that in some states, if you can't read the parking sign from where you are parking, parking is considered free. Don't know if this is true but in my opinion that's the way it should be. 👍
People gotta learn!!! We have been coming to that area of the country for 40+ years!!! Never once had a problem with parking!! You know why??? We pay to park every single time!! I have been to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge over 30 times across the last 35 to 40 years. I have never had a problem finding a place to park legally. These people have no common sense when it comes to parking. You don’t park in a business parking lot unless you’re going there to do business. It is not that hard to figure out. Your cell phone is not the authority on where you can park free.

You charge a fair price for what you do. You cant work for free. Like any company fuel is your biggest cost. The company I work for planned to run our trailer on shore power at each location. But we couldnt do so we run a generator. Shore power connection is $30k per site we have 8.

I live here in this area for over 10 years. I have found only 1 area in GB with free parking...River Road on the river side (except for Trolly stops, loading zones, driveways and corners...other than that, PAY to park or get towed!
