Hey James yes i use the Heartfelt beeds in all my box Humidors. In my wineador i use just one oasis plus, and i rigged up four fans that circulates the air. Im running a constant 68° to 69° and 68 to 69 % humidity
I guess heartfelt beads are different because they say on their website that white silica beads only absorb moisture. It seems to work now but I will keep you updated to see if it starts to dramatically lose humidity. so maybe this won't work long term. where did you buy heartfelt from?
@@AM2PMReviews Nice wineador! I have a dual zone whynter wc-321dd that i converted with custom spanish cedar drawers. i have 4 lbs of HF beads on both sides along with a cigar oasis excel on each side for active humidification with a few fans in it to push and pull humidity from the top to the bottom and back up. Now my question is, do fan dry out cigars even if the RH is spot on?
I recently started using beads - from Cigar Oasis actually - and just for anyone wondering ... a little goes a LONG WAY, you'll be AMAZED ... I saw a different bead company's instructions advertising to use two Tablespoons of beads and 9-10 cups of distilled water (so that's more than a half-gallon of water) ... Let me tell you, I used ONE HALF of a Tablespoon, and pretty much just kept adding water, and the result was a massive supply of aqueous beads that is much more than I need for my humidor and two tupperdors (I don't have a large cabinet like you) ... but the beads seem to be doing a great job and are very easy solution. An $8.99 package from Cigar Oasis will probably last you several years, and is probably capable of supplying the humidification needs for everything but the biggest & fanciest humidors.
Per Cigar Oasis rep, the Plus over humidifies in winedors, they suggested using the excel. Im currently struggling to get mine under 70RH which technically is fine but I like mine in the mid 60’s, I’ve tried beads bovedas and there’s no way around it with the Plus.
I'm running both Boveda packs and a Heartfelt 70% large beads disk in both my wineador and wood table top humidor and it's working very at study humidity of 69%-71% that's because I use it to season my cigar collection and try to stay out of it which is so hard to do. Lol
no problem. I will keep you guys updated. I guess heartfelt beads are different because they say on their website that white silica beads only absorb moisture. It seems to work now but I will keep you updated to see if it starts to dramatically lose humidity.
Oh I forgot Amazon also has them. But make sure they are Heartfelt, they have other brands that i got but they didn't work as well as Heartfelt. Oh and make sure you use distilled water, tap water and or spring water can cause your sticks to grow mold
Question: There seems to be 2 kinds of beads. There are the beads which swell to several times their initial size; There there are beads like the ones here in this video, which don't swell as much. With both kinds, people are using Boveda packs to (I guess) absorb excess humidity. Do any beads both release as well as absorb humidity so that only one product can be used?
How did you handle the condensation before adding the pie dish? No reviews seem to go into detail about that other than just mentioning it exists, I'm on the fence about getting a wineador and have been watching lots of videos. Did you have to set up a drain to catch the water? Did that let your humidity out?
yes before it wasn't as hot so it wasn't as bad. I had the hole in the bottom draining it out. In the summer it got so bad I had to figure out another solution so I just covered the hole with electrical tape and funneled the water in the dish. it seems to work well the last couple of months.
Hey james. I just got my cooler in today new air 281E.. I'm trying to get everything together. I'm waiting on my drawers to come in. I was wondering how the dish of beads are working for catching the condensation... It's the one thing I'm concerned about the room where it will be is hotter then the rest of the house. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks.
Hey Jason, i hope you end up loving it. I still have my dish in the bottom part. It is a little too humid this week so i took it out and it has been perfect and no dripping has happened. I love this system.
I hate to be “that guy”, but Heartfelt Industries is an actual company selling Heartfelt Humidity Beads, an actual branded product. I’ve used both Heartfelt beads and just plain silica beads, they are two different things. Both will work just fine, but worth noting they are in fact different, even if just very slightly so.
@@AM2PMReviews They are silica beads that have been treated with chemical salts to be able to be "calibrated" to specific RH. To also address the other comment, the salts get washed out if dropped in water rendering them back to plain silica beads. They should have a different maintenance routine to keep performance optimized. Now, having said all that, it's been 6 or 7 years since my last Heartfelt Industries purchase, they could have ditched the special processing, but still sell calibrated beads so I don't think they are just silica still.
@@robertjuric I answered with a little more detail to James, but you are correct. Soaking will effectively destroy the process that makes them different.
oh I see. I will just call these Humi-beads then. I didn't know they were treated a special way or that you couldn't get them wet. So they just give off humidity.
I think your going to be ok with them as long as you wet them when they start to dry. And i got them on there website. It's great because they have tubes, and cloth bags, and also magnetic round disks for box humidors. Also different humidity beeds from 70% to 65% etc.
There it is..so it works! And yea you can keep it right side up and it’ll do its thing.Nice! Thanks James.appreciate the video...so...would you have to eventually buy another cigar oasis refill or does this cover you indefinitely? 👍🏻

I use heartfelt beads in my humidor and am quite pleased with them, but I like that idea of recirculating condensation back into a pie pan. Might have to invest in a cigar oasis and try that modification!
yes it works. I am not even sure if the cigar oasis is needed now. It works well with it and without it. I think it just helps maintain the humidity even better now.

yes i only use distilled water. The condensate that comes out the back is probably still distilled but picks up stuff on the way back i bet so i will have to monitor it.
@@AM2PMReviews Hi, is there a reason you stopped using them? Any issues? I'm looking to use them in the bottom of my wineador for taking care of condensation

Darin Vaughan yes I saw them years ago. I just tried every but them. They work so great!!! They don’t circulate humidity so the fan will help with that but they are so stable and easy

mine seems fine with boveda. the bowl in the bottom probably makes it so it doesn't run much.
I’ve had the excel running at 65% with two 320g 65 bovedas for a few days now and it’s running like a dream

I think the boveda packs are the only real two way devices.
but you can use the heartfelt beads which always give off a steady humidity.

its the same. the beads are great for holding stable humidity levels. They add good mass.

oh maybe i don't use them anymore i just let it drip in the bottom tray and it just evaporates back up.
