My personal opinion is that thicker wrapper cigars like broadleaf are best kept at 65% humidity, and thinner wrapper cigars like connecticut shade are best at that 68% to 70%. Or you keep everything at 70% and dry box the thicker wrapper cigars before you smoke them. Great information as always keep up the good work

Thanks a lot guys, very good info. Propylene Glycol is the main ingredient in the liquid used for artificial fog machines they use them in theaters, etc. And its is also used in cosmetics to draw out excessive humidity in your skin (perspiration for example). Thanks Bradley, Thanks Justin.

Brad, something to take into consideration with the large new air humidor you showed is that it is cooled by a compressor which removes humidity as it cools, this is also why it has active humidification built into it so you may still run into the same issue with having to refill the water tray even with a PG solution.

I tried a few methods and currently I'm using an airtight Tupperdor that holds about 30 cigars, with a single 69% Boveda pack, sitting on the floor of my bedroom closet, and it is working very well. With a completely airtight container your humidifying system will last quite a long time.

I have a Schmeke 250ct fridge humidor. Its been plugged in for over 2 months. Took a few weeks to get to 68. Thay last for about 2 weeks then tanked to 55. I have the reservoir filled with distilled water and the sponge it came with. I have appx 50 sticks in there. There feeling hard n dry. Any idea what i can do to raise humidity? Was thinking about 2 65% bovedas in there

Just curious I have an oasis humidifier in my 100 count box. As you know it has a fan. If I hollowed it out and placed the beads in the oasis just wondering how many beads would be needed. Don't need to count them out but rough idea would be helpful. Or do you think this is a bad idea?

the only thing off the top of my head is amount of cigars in the coolerdore with out knowing how full it is if they are not full to about 50% capacity that can cause humidity to get a little high. whats the source of humidification? water beads just water. boveda pillows?

  • @dstdrummer

    So here’s a question.
I’ve been stewing on this since I saw you mention them before.
    So here’s the question.
I have a converted 1.2 cu/ft cooler. You mentioned adding or removing beads to keep RH where you want it.
Does the amount of beads impact the RH more so than needing a larger amount for the size of humidor?
Maybe I’m thinking of it too much on the Boveda system?
    Thanks guys!

Ever since your guys' video on water beads, that how I've maintained my humidor. I use a dad more than a shot glass, I have a glass candle stick holder, but it does pretty good; fluctuates between 67% and 70%. Oh, and the water beads I got were from Michael's and are supposedly for plants...but like you said, same thing. But yeah, works great! And that's without the glycol mixture, just straight water.
Incidentally, how important is it that I use distilled water? Right now it's just tap water in the beads.

    • @deanc8077
      @deanc8077 Год назад

Best to use distilled water. Tap water has minerals and bacterias and chemicals all of which can impart flavors into your cigars. Distilled water is basically void of any of those and provides the least impact on your cigars.

look at seasoning the humidor if its wooden. use distilled water and just use a sponge or rag and get the inside damp leave cigars out for about 24 hours put them in see if it settles might have to repeat twice also i would recommend adding a digital humidity read out if your is not already

I have one of those small acrylic Tupperware containers, with a bovida pack inside of it And I keep about a weeks worth of sticks in it, so that I don't have to keep opening my regular humidor up, just to grab one stick. Kinda like opening the fridg door and standing there looking for something for 10 minutes. And hearing you father (in your mind) yelling at you to close the damn door, because your costing him money. Than thinking to yourself.....I make a hella of a lot more than you did, dad !! It's a vicious cycle...LOL
Question: When will you be getting more orders of the PDR Dark roast cigars in ? Makes me mad as hell that you talk about them in the show and then your ....OUT OF STOCK on them. THE HELL !!! p.s. Great video.
