I remember advice that I received more than 20 years ago when I made my first online cigar purchase and that was to let the cigars rest in my humidor for at least two weeks after delivery until smoking. This can take some spontaneity out of the experience but I've noticed over the years that very often my cigars can be at a different humidity level than I'd ordinarily like so it really is worth planning ahead. For more spontaneous purchases I think it's better to just go to your local B&M.
I do 2-3 months before I smoke anything and it makes a huge difference IMO. Given, you have to keep a constant rotation and stock more even in a separate acrylic/tupperdore but it works.
I keep mine in the bag. Its works out for me. Maintaining the right humidification is the important thing in my opinion I dont smoke the infused cigars..
3:25 I recharge mine! I used to just do the paper towel method. But I’ve been using those water beads in a ziplock and throw the packs in there. The Boveda pack doesn’t get all soaking wet, and it works great!
As much as Acid cigars cost I don't think we have to worry about kids buying them . If I still smoked infused cigars I would have a separate humidor or cigar jar . The aroma at least permeate your premiums if not the flavor . I do separate really strong cigars from milder ones . Great topic , awesome channel and content , thanks 👍👍
I found that my blondie in a 14 cigar sampler tasted completely different than my case of 40. I’d only do that for a single infused flavors after that.
@@imnotbenavery9220 A lot of people say flavors don't intermingle but they do . When I first started I had a small humidor and didn't smoke a lot , so I might have a certain cigar for awhile before I smoked it . The guy at the shop I went to told me to remove the cellophane and they would age better . A friend gave me a CAO Moontrance , I unwrapped it and put it away . A month later all my cigars were CAO Moontrance . Cello stays on now and I have 2 humidors , 1 for the mellow cigars and 1 for the full bodied stuff . Don't smoke infused cigars myself but if you do , don't put them with your regular cigars . They will affect your other cigars . Live and learn . Enjoy those stogies 👍👍
My old man went his whole life without a humidor, cigar cutter or anything else for that matter. He bought cigars by the box and cut the ends with a sharp knife. Of course he was a man that didn’t season his food either LMAO
I just bought 7 five packs. While the packaging varied, none were humidified. I took them all out of the packaging, trimmed the cello at one end so they were open, and loaded them all into a new Tupperdor with two fresh Boveda packs.
I have a brand new acrylic humidor (first time using acrylic) and I'm using 69 Bovedas. My hygrometer is staying steady at 75% RH so I've been leaving the lid slightly cracked and this seems to be helping as my RH is now holding steady at around 71%. Is this common for acrylic humidors? Any suggestions here? TIA
I handle the issue of recharging Boveda packs as follows: For the humidor itself, I will always buy a fresh one for the sake of consistency. That being said, I will also keep some old 8g packs on hand that I can easily recharge for travel or if I need an extremely short term solution for the humidification of 1 or 2 cigars.
@MikeG66 "Recharging" is just rehydrating the pack. Soak it in a bit of distilled water for a bit and then let the exterior dry out. You may have to do this twice, but after you do you'll notice that the interior is now holding liquid once again.
Cigar oasis in a fridgidor, with 69 degree Boveda packs. The Boveda is always ready for the travel humidor, and as a bonus it’s a backup bonus to the fridgidor.
I'm still learning all of this cigar lingo. What constitutes a Morning, Daytime or Evening cigar? I only segregate my Churchill's from the Corona's and Toro or Petite Cigars.
Year ago I had a boveda explode on my cigars. Boveda handled it amazing and I was told the cigars were still safe to smoke. I am still alive so don't worry about them getting on your cigar wipe it off you will be fine.
When you guys say separate infused and premium cigars do you mean say keep infused at the top premium at the bottom or do you mean in an entirely different humidor?
Keep them separated entirely. Some people will put them in a ziplock bag inside their humidors. Others will get a seperate humidor. You just want to keep the flavors from bleeding over to your non-infused stuff.
how do the metal tins work for cigars do they still need to be in the humidor or can they stay in the tins i know oliva has some in the tins im interasted in getting them
I am a fan of scoundrel cigars, but I had more than my jar would hold. I threw like 9 of these things into a separate humidor with a Deadwood cigar, I think a Sweet Jane or whatever it's called. Long story short I had a very deadwood flavored 75 cent stick.
I know everybody talks about taking the rap off the individual cigar. My question is, when you get your Boxes of cigars, do you take the off the Box and open the Box into your hemorrhoid door.
My hygrometer says 74 but my Boveda is at 69. I tried calibrating by placing my hygrometer in a zip lock with a 69 Boveda like what some posts say to do but nothing has changed. I'm just thinking its the hygrometer itself cause I bought one of those 6 pack hygrometers from amazon. What should I do?
Specifically speaking about infused cigars. I'm very concerned that simply keeping them on a separate shelf (300 ct) in the original wrapper isn't going to be enough to prevent the bleed over? Your thoughts please.
I've always stored my infused cigars with my premies... never had even a trace tinge of 'cross contamination'. BUT... I have 6 to 10 in one tray in my humidor and the rest of that tray, and the other two trays, are non-infused.
Up to you and what you like It’s cellophane btw not plastic it help reduce humidity loss and slows down the aging process. As I said personal preference you could try one with one without in your humidor and see which you prefer!
Yes if you have a variety, no if they're all the same, the cello (which is not plastic) takes in the humidity and even allows aging but it prevents the different cigars tastes from affecting the others around it.
have maany bovedas from new to 5 years old. they wafer, place in distilled water for a week and they are usable again. use digital humidity meters and humidity stays as stable as the new boveda packs.. ascertained by a control acrylic humidor with new bovedas and same humidor type with old bovedas. same readings. only problem is i now have a plethora of boveda packs.

Correct, cigarillos are smaller cigars. Smoked the same, usually don't last near as long, for when you can't spend the time to enjoy a full length cigar
