This is my low investment/high impact change: After 27 years and 7 kids (so, many vehicles) we got sick of rummaging through a basket for keys in haste and frustration. This has made a huge impact many times every day: A dry erase board with cork strips at the top and bottom. I pressed in pin hooks, then labeled each hook with a dry erase pen. Hubby added another row of command hooks across the middle. 18 labeled spots for keys means we never lose them anymore!
Make a menu! Ok, so it isn't a one-time action but it is a one-time decision to do it regularly. If I take the time to make a dinner menu once every 2 weeks, I will spend less on groceries or eating out and I save myself from decision fatigue every night deciding what to make. The time you take will come back to you when you don't have to run to the store for a missing ingredient or throw the kids' schedule off with a late dinner.
1) Do not use social media apps on your phone. Browse the app's websites in a private browser instead. I've entirely stopped using social media besides RUclips since then. It's just inconvenient to log in over and over again. 2) Addition to 4:22: Neither have a TV nor your phone in your bedroom at all. Cold light / blue lights will keep you awake. Read a book, talk to your partner instead. Also, I use a traveling alarm to wake you up. Regardless of whether I'm staying at home or in a hotel. 3) In addition to @va's comment, I have like 5 base recipes available. But I can vary them easily. There's basically nothing wrong with eating steamed vegetables three times a week when you have 3 different types of sauce and 5 different side dishes to play with.
When we had a new baby, we started putting our ‘charging station’ in the kitchen. Not anywhere near the bedroom. And as the kids got older, their phones also are in the kitchen by 9pm, no exceptions. And since we, the parents do this, there’s no arguments.
1. Use the focus setting on your phone to limit calls/texts to only certain people 2. Hide/unplug your TV - make it inconvenient; you'll watch it less 3. Get an accountability partner 4. Wifi timer to automatically shut off wifi 5. Chrome extensions - e.g. Manganum (sponsor for the video) 6. Move your charger to other side of your room, not next to your bed 7. Get a new bed for better quality sleep 8. Track your finances (e.g. Truebill) 9. Pay money for it to be held accountable 10. Delete apps/games from your phone 11. Have a pair of quality shoes 12. Switch providers for internet/etc - check what you're paying and see if you can lower the cost with a different provider It was actually 12... But who's counting anyways? ;)
I deleted Facebook 2 weeks ago.. was spending hrs just mindlessly scrolling.. its been an interesting experience to notice the addict urge wax and wane..
I kept the same budget mattress for 30 long years and had so much back and neck pain! From age 13 to 43! I took the plunge and went for a Nectar bed and I love it!
Thanks for the great video! My in-laws got us the Purple bed as a wedding gift and we LOVE it! Greatly improved our sleep quality, and keeps us cooler at night compared to regular mattresses. Highly recommend, especially with the matching pillows! I was sleeping on a $5 Walmart pillow and kept having neck problems, finally got the purple pillow and it fixed my neck!
I probably won't do a lot of these hi tech things. I'm older, and I just don't want to mess with them. We got rid of our TV years ago, and we don't miss it. I'd much rather watch real people, like you, on the internet. My SIL and I are lifting weights together, so I have an accountability partner. Yay! The shoes and the bed are awesome actions and so very important! Thank you, Gabe! (Your daughter is precious!)
Love your videos!! We had issues with every mattress we purchased at "walk-in" stores. We ordered a Helix mattress and have been super impressed with how much better our backs feel and the quality of sleep we've gotten since we've had it. Take the online test and check them out. See you in the next video!
Great ideas. Congrats on your new lil girl. Hope you had a wonderful 1st Father's Day. We have a purple matress and truly love it. Several family members and friends love there's also.
Awesome video as usual! Love the sound/ artistry of filming! I think being grateful for everything you have is the most important thing. Saves the envy/keeping up with the Jones' ethic which costs you sooo much!
love these videos one thing i did that saved me a lot of time and headache was remove the face book app off my phone so i am not tempted to just scroll on my phone for hours i still have messenger but hardly anyone texts me anyways. also we have the tv however we mainly play youtube or spotify on it for just noise in the apartment while we work. though i will be talking to my husband about other things we can do since some things on this list i never thought about
TV time for me is "study time" as I like to watch how-to videos, documentaries, and the like. I picked up a big tv to mount in my room/above my desk to use as a bigger monitor (see tiny details better when doing artwork) and so I can work when I can't sit up long enough to be at the desk. I hate those days when my herniated disks swell up so bad that I have to wait for it to go down.
I wrote and suggested this when I watched your video. Today, I’m watching Dawn’s (The Minimal Mom) current video-where she mentions Helix mattresses, and all the perks, including the discount. “Minimalist Kitchen Reset and Refresh” I ran over here to let you know.
Purple nectar bed. Even their softest bed is very supportive, the other side is that won’t transfer motion. You can jump on the bed(please keep off your shoes or high heels)
I got a Casper Essential at Target for $400 for a full size mattress, on clearance, in June 2019. It is now June 2022 and I’ve had amazingly refreshing, restful sleep every night I’ve used it.
I like the Bear mattress. Have mine for two years and quality is still great. One side is firm and other side is softer but for back pain/discomfort and co-sleeping, firm is best.
Just my opinion best to have phone close to you at night. Just in case intruder! Also one day my husband had very low blood pressure, he couldn’t stand up so he couldn’t walk over to the table across from the bed. Where his phone was. If I wasn’t there. He could have died. I had to call 911. If phone by bed. I think he could have called. His arms were still usable & fingers That woke me up!
Love that you also have mint mobile. I have the light phone 2 and paired with the cheapest 12 month plan I will be saving 400 bucks and wont have to worry about monthly phone bills for awhile
We got an ecosleep bed. Won’t off gas formaldehyde (😱😱😱) for 2 years like other mattresses, as it’s a gel and spring hybrid. One side is hard, the other medium. 👌🏼
I want to move someday, out of the city. instead of buying a new mattress, I just bought a memory foam mattress topper at Macy's it was supposed to have been a $400, on sale for $125.00 I've had it for about three years now, and it is still excellent sleeping on it! That is what I would do. Find one on sale!
I recently had to replace our mattress that I bought less than 6 months from Amazon. I ended up buying a Novaform from Costco. I’m not advocating a brand but I would buy from Costco again. Being able to physically touch a mattress really help me choose. I originally had made a choice only to change my mind once I was able to see it in person. Plus if it doesn’t work out it’s much easier to return a purchase to Costco than Amazon.
Mattress recommendations: Helix (comes in small box and blows up to size on arrival, customizable and Minimal Mom always has coupons for it), or Latex cause something about rubber is a good product to sleep on
mattress suggestions: you could get a sponsorship from Helix. I got my last mattress at a department store. I waited for something I wanted to go on sale and used all my membership points for a discount and got 6 month 0% financing. That was over 10 years ago and we just got our new one from Craigslist. I very nice airbnb was selling all their furniture (their daughter was moving in). We got a headboard, frame, and high quality mattress for $150. It was like winning the lottery. This might stay with a house we are trying to turn into a rental and I have been thinking of a purple mattress since I first found out about them. I have a back injury and take my mattress selection very seriously.
I had a really bad backache, but bed wasnt that old. Invested in a really good quality mattress the difference is amazing. Did same with pillow i was getting shoulder neck probs changed pillow.
Love, love your tips, Gabe!!! Dawn from The Minimal Mom, and her husband Tom, have a Helix mattress. They have enjoyed it immensely. They say it’s amazing and have often been sponsored. I'm in Florida, so many are getting cancelled and companies going out of business. When you are forced to switch, you have to get another 4-point inspection, they say the inspections are only good for a year. They're making it so difficult here.
Also one thing I did is change my cell plan from unlimited data to 3gb per month. My wifi turns off at 11pm but then I would just get on my phone. The first month I churned through all my data in a week. The next month I made it to 3 weeks. I’m hoping to make it the whole month this time.
i turn my phone off completely at night. Sleep: I'm starting pt today to mitigate my neck/shoulder pain so hopefully CAN get enough sleep! shoes: I love barefoot shoes!
Great video Gabe! I recently deleted social media apps from my phone, and I love it. Hey, but nice video.
Check out info on emf's (electromagnetic fields). Anything plugged in by where you sleep will be sending waves to you which will interfere with sleep and upsets heart rhythms. Every electronic Appliance needs to be unplugged or 6 ft away from where you're sleeping. Check out Dr Berg's RUclips Channel video regarding insomnia. I just happened to think of this and thought it was important to tell you when you were talking about unplugging your phone or keeping it away from your bed
Was your cheap amazon bed a Zinus by chance? We bought one a few years ago and it didn't last very long either. Recently purchased a Titan mattress, designed for larger people (I'm a nearly 300lbs powerlifter). We've had it for a year and it's holding up so far, and backed by a 10 year warranty. The company I work for hauls Tempurpedic mattresses as our primary customer, so I feel obligated to mention them as well. I could never personally spend that much money on one of them though.
I haven't turned on my tv in at least a month if not 2. I find most tv boring and I'd rather listen to an audio book or read a book. Today I am calling the cable company and unsubscribing from cable tv and only keeping internet. My bill should go from $197 down to $50. The only thing I'll miss is the Dodger Games.
How do you not watch T.V. as a Sports fan? I mean not that the World Series is much of the world with 30 baseball teams being American and is it three Canadian?
Not gonna lie I do watch football but only select games and it’s when I’m at other people‘s houses so it’s more of an event hanging out with people I used to be really into it but then I realized it doesn’t really add all that much to my life but if you enjoy it it’s not a bad thing

Great suggestions. Hard to watch--too much camera movement
Easier and gets you more time and plus money
Quality shoes yes, but how do those shoes shown qualify as "quality"?
They are barefoot shoes in for me these are really helped my back pain
Gabe where r u from
I only watch TV on Sundays for football. Beyond that, I never watch TV
more baby b roll please! ❣️
Helix mattress!
Emma mattresses are amazing!
I honestly have no clue what kind it is.
Ok cool I’ll check them out
There are a few mattress companies that sponsor RUclipsrs. You could probably get a great quality one for free.
Not gonna lie secretly hoping someone will reach out to me lol
@@GabeBult Haha, I don't blame you. I'd be eating up all the free stuff too. Could you reach out to them?
Use Skechers, New Balance, Clarks
I haven't turned on my tv in at least a month if not 2. I find most tv boring and I'd rather listen to an audio book or read a book. Today I am calling the cable company and unsubscribing from cable tv and only keeping internet. My bill should go from $197 down to $50. The only thing I'll miss is the Dodger Games.
I don’t charge my phone at all for this reason lol
Lull mattress… best ever
Men being too assertive isn’t good, they also need to show there soft side.
How do you not watch T.V. as a Sports fan? I mean not that the World Series is much of the world with 30 baseball teams being American and is it three Canadian?
Not gonna lie I do watch football but only select games and it’s when I’m at other people‘s houses so it’s more of an event hanging out with people I used to be really into it but then I realized it doesn’t really add all that much to my life but if you enjoy it it’s not a bad thing
tip 1. focus
me, a person with adhd: well, fuck
Don't put a TV in a living room
You're using iPhone now? I thought you used Pixel and disliked Apple products.
I do but I was either going to get a Camera or a new phone and The cameras are just so much better on iPhone that I went with that
@@GabeBult I see. It's cool though. For me, we are allowed to change our views and preferences. I myself have just been using iPhone for six months now after years of using Android phones. And yeah, the cameras on iPhone are great!
