The rear lights on gle are amazing and subtle they add to the rear stance by pointing to the wheels. Great design

Prefer the x5 headlights and tail lights.. mercedes isnt very distinctive imo.. u also gotta think about performance which bmw wins hands down
My dad cross-shopped both of these, X5 is so much better, GLE can’t even compare, we ordered a fully loaded X5 last month and it’s coming next month, if you go X5 40i, the M Sport Pkg is def a must have
The only thing that turns me away from buying either of these two vehicles is simply the interiors and the overreliance on screens. I can understand having some functions on a screen, but having little to no buttons on the center console in any modern BMW or Mercedes is just baffling to me. You'd think I'd approve of this as someone in the 20s, but not even remotely. As for the designs, the design of the X5 used in this video looks like it has a stuffy nose so I would go with the likes of the X5 M60i. The GLE also looks handsome as well.

@@ks-vq5er Not a new BMW or Merc that's for sure. But if I were to buy a modern car based on the interior would be the Genesis GV80 or GV80 Coupe. I know it too has a large screen, but it also has the climate controls in a separate panel along with some dials. Plus, I find the interior of the GV80 Coupe to be more cozy while also still being sporty, especially with the tan and green interior.

I love the simple understated lines of the GLE. It makes it look luxurious, aerodynamic, and timeless. The only exterior design element I like from the BMW is the large chrome kidney grill. Interior-wise, hands down it is the GLE. It looks more integrated and layout is uncluttered.

You compared multiple different trims on the GLE to the base non-Msport X5. Not a fair comparison.
The X5 with m-sport and fat 22” wheels is much more planted. Those rears are 315s.

Both are very nice but Mercedes pricing has gotten out of control. I applaud BMW for having superior wheel designs and features like Digital Key/Key Card, cornering LED lights, lighted exterior door handles and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond audio. All GLE variants only have the base 13 speaker Burmester which a lot of owners have complained about the lack of bass. Even a fully loaded AMG GLE 53 is now more expensive than an X5 M60i with a V8. And the running boards kill the look on the GLE.
X5 all day. A lot more mean and imposing. Mercedes just a blob.
X5 also has better reliability

Three of my favorite things:
1. Tailgate
2. Engine: Performance to efficiency ratio (I get 0-60 in 4.8 while having 29 mpg on freeway at 75 mph)
3. BMW chassis dynamics (even standard active suspension is awesome)
You should’ve showed base GLE (which people buy more) and compared it to the base X5. That’s a comparison, not a fully loaded GLE with AMG Line etc..
I know.. it makes absolutely no sense. Might as well compare a GLE63 AMG to base X5.

In the non AMG/M league. The X5 50e is the best sport/luxury SUV in the market right now. But the GLE63s is head shoulders and toes above the X5 M
I’d go X5 40i M Sport over X5 50e, the 40i M Sport will handle better and it will be a lot more reliable

@@lrlwbw9 my friend’s parents bought a brand-new X5 50e last year and they already had four issues with it related to the hybrid system, I’ve heard about worse stories with BMW PHEVs, they def aren’t as bad as they used to be though, my dad ordered a fully loaded X5 40i last month and everyone we talked to at the dealership said the 40i will be more reliable than the 50e

X5 lci is great car, but the AC is really bad, I don’t know why, maybe thanks to vent design it just cant get the air-flow proper direction.
The GLE looks like a Toyota Highlander.
BMW looks better but the next redesign if the sedans and the new X3 are any indication BMW should screw it up

Also the tech in the GLE feels a little old compared to their newer tablet style
I like the screen in the gle much more as the tablet ones. I drive an e400d from 2022 rn and wouldnt want to trade it against the clinical tablet
X5 with the inline 6 is miles better than the gle with the trash reliability
the gle is one of the most reliable high-end suvs around. there are gles with 200,000 + miles at the dealership that drive extremely well. lets no make fun of other car brands just because we like bmw cars

To be honest, Mercedes looks a little bit blooby and too rounded. And it's side view is somehow not that serious, but fatty. Yes, this Mercedes model as some of their others looks like gloomy fatman. This specific BMW is more state and pronounced. It looks more serious. But it has more random unsuitable elements poorly integrated compared to Mercedes, where everything is organicaly flows into other volumes

@@philippsperber4931 I find the GLE bland, boring, and uninspiring. Actually, it has less of a "traditional" three-box design than the X5, which is why the GLE looks like a bloated, amorphous blob. Just my two cents.
