Reasons why I like this car: - It doesn't have any disproportionate screens inside. - does not follow the trend of the light bar on the rear -No fake air intakes -It's clean and sleek
Better looking than any of the over designed German competitors, who all overload the interior with huge screens and the exterior with weird plastic applications everywhere.
but the infotainment system on most Volvos except for the newer and bigger one on the EX 90 is very difficult to use, especially when it comes to climate control. The screen might be decently sized but the system itself is worse than the ones in the German competitors. Don’t also forget that the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes Benz GLC still have physical climate control buttons, the Audi Q7 has a dedicated screen for climate control with fixed buttons on the screen.
@bachbui I've been driving a Volvo for the past 6 years. There are no problems whatsoever with using the screen or the climate controls. All the reviewers like to complain about everything being in the touch screen, and at this point I feel like it's just trendy to do so. Since the climate controls are static at the bottom, as it is in most applications like this, it's very easy to use and doesn't take very long at all to get used to.
The first model year for the new design was 2016, so...8/9 years. But agree! Great lookin car still! I have an XC60 and had an XC40 before that. Looking forward to the EX60!
When a car company gets a design this right it should only be evolution not revolution. This is the most beautiful SUV ever created. Would like to see evolution of this for 50 years. Like the G wagon
I absolutely love the new grill. It looks timeless but also modern and also connects it with the historial design language that is unique to Volvo. It’s beautiful.
3:40 Bembli, the LED headlights with the Thor's hammer LED DRL has been standard for years now. They thankfully got rid of the halogen headlights a long time ago
I totally agree with you. After almost 10 years of design, parking a XC90 next to a GLE/Q7/X5 2024 model year do not feel old or anything at all. If someone is not into cars, they would probably think it's not the "old" design back in 2015.
it's crazy how volvo makes these timeless designs. A lot cleaner than the germans are doing these days. The only comment I have is the curved front bumper which would look better with some harder angles or just straight.
Perfect update!! Touched on a few details (loved the new interior air vents) while keeping key features (crystal gear and sound system) that make it so special. What a lesson to the germans 🙌🏼
I'm an avid Volvo brand fan. I've owned many. My only issues with the newer more expensive models is that they are cutting small corners. for example, my 2019 XC40 has automatic rear folding seats, and yet a newer XC60 or XC90 does not... It's beyond me.
I like the older XC90 better tbh, to me it just looks most stately and it was still clean. I myself do not like the headlights roughing the grill, bc everyone else is doing that (Ford, Mazda, Infiniti) on their suvs and crossovers. I love the interior updates though, just wish they kept the smaller 9” screen. I love that it finally has the proper Volvo vents!
The reason any they had to do the next redesign of 10 years old construction is the fact that they had to change the strategy of moving back from ICEs. They wanted to become EV brand, but they realized that they clients don’t want EVs. 70% of people that own EV want to come back to ICE or PHEV.
The only issue I have with the exterior of current Volvo SUVs and Cross Country models is the bulky rear wiper and how it doesn't line up with where the glass and the rest of the tailgate meet.
People say only Mercedes has better interior quality than Volvo. They also say more wealthy people drive Volvos than anything else, since they're so nice but very understated.
FYI, the halogen headlight option is EXTREMELY rare, and was discontinued I believe for the 2017MY. There's only two in my area with the base headlights. They also got rid of the exposed exhausts for 2022. The color that this car is in (and you keep mentioning) is probably Bright Dusk, which is one of my favorite colors on the palette.
I remember the Audi Q5 where the headlights were in contact with the front grille, and it looked awful. Here, I find it very well executed. Excellent design job, Volvo.
This thing is a beauty! Those wheels are amazing! I am not a fan of the screen integration, but I prefer it to what the Germans are doing. I like the idea of having a separate housing or at least a hood for the gauge cluster. This is really well done by Volvo!
FYI the basic headlights was only offerd in specific markets, For example Sweden had the LED as standard. The Thor hammer headlight was a cheaper option to try in markets were the buyer had less money
I bought a C30 T5 last weekend, but I wish I had a modern Volvo. Just the best looking cars on the market for several years. A modern, hybrid C30 would be a god-send. I still prefer the previous XC90's face, though. the split lower grills are much more appealing. But the other improvements to the new one are great. Just sad the V60/90 is going away.
I think they forget to design a place for licence plate. In USA that's not a big problem because you don't need one in a lot of states but in Europe... where will be the place to put the plate? Lower section is air intake, so it seems like it's going to be between grille and this shaped down curved panel which btw reminds me lucid air.
I don’t like the fact that the drive mode is in the screen though because you have to take your eyes off the road instead of it being right there by the shifter in my 2016 XC 90. I believe it’s a hit or miss on certain things though.
Volvo is one of the most underrated car brands, it is crazy how this car still looks so good and up to date after 10 years, really well by Volvo designers team, they’re doing great things with Polestar ass well
That grille pattern is strange. A bit over designed with all angled ribs. Rest of the car, including new front end looks great. A classic design that looks better than ever.
As a XC60 onwner, I like where this is going, but I have two complaints - The infotainment screen is not well intergrated. They want to keep the old dashboard but need a bigger screen sure. But it doesn't feel right for me - The breaklight of Volvo has alsway been a subtractor for me because it is small. It is not good fucntionally and it makes the back of the car look bulky
Volvo is not a good brand at all, mine had several problems that making me wanted to sell it soon. Mine was local assembled though. I'm not sure swedish made would do any better.
Stupid middle row, captains chairs have no inboard armrest. And Volvo pats themselves on the back for being good with ergonomics. Also lack of buttons as a safety issue. They double down on those screens because it’s cheaper but they’re trying to convince us it’s for aesthetics and Ease .
@@SM-wr4nnquestion is, are they the same as they were known for (safety), I doubt it. Many cars today are not what the used to be, and this might be one of them, sadly.

Yuck. Just another gross faux roader. Volvo should either go all-out and make a modern C300 series, or start making proper cars. Give me an actual car, that's made in Sweden and available as a wagon, sedan and coupe. RWD as standard and manual gearbox.

I don't think so
I prefer the look of Mercedes benz gle both interior and exterior
Love the xc90 but you had to ruin it by comparing it to the German one’s, which are are better in terms of tech.
Still looking good, after 10 years!
The rear and side profile are super dated imo

Volvo is in a league of its own its Simply Sofiatication with Elegant Design. Safety features are a non-negotiable with Volvo.
Masterclass in automotive design
German brands should back up a bit and take a close look into Volvo´s designs
For me the new facelift 👍 more better looking than the old.. I will trade this to my old X5.. please come to Malaysia 🙏

Beautiful redesign, but I'm shocked that they did not address the lack of latches or handles to lift the third row seats, that's so obvious

Isn’t that the exact same pattern on the grill as BMW is going now
Such a beautiful facelift

Looks like they were driving around Oslo and then out in the Norwegian countryside.
The lack of paddles shifters in Volvo lineup, ruins this beautiful car
The exhaust pipes have already been ditched since model year 2023.
Volvo has backed out of going full electric by 2030 gauging slowing customer demand for electric cars. Yay!

it's weird how the xc90 somehow looks more modern than the ex90. The electric one is clearly an ev version of the past generation xc90
