So far I’m actually really enjoying Mirage. I can tell Bordeaux had PASSION when they made this the gameplay is pretty engaging and fun. The parkour although not Unity is fun enough where I want to perform it and the assassinations were well crafted and fun. A few gripes here and there but so far I’m personally very happy this game was made and I hope Bordeaux can make more projects like this in the future

@@IlMemetor72 No, I agree with you; It's got some good things about it, but it ain't no masterpiece OR complete shitshow. In the end, it works and it's mechanics do well, which is probably the best that could happen given this game's development and the slashed resources by upper management.

Finally. I agree with your thoughts. Stealth feels truly smooth, with very consistent detection and predictable guard behavior and experimenting with all the tool upgrades is great fun. Assassin Focus is also something I underestimated - you can use it in so many situations to save yourself or extend movement and its overall such a great stealth experience combined with what the civilian pressure and notoriety brings to the table.
The narrative is...serviceable to good. The non-linearity can harm the moment to moment storytelling as well as take away from stronger character development, but Basim is very likeable and the game does follow up on Valhalla well with its depiction of the Order and the hints at what Basim is underneath that the game throws at players. The game also takes the Hidden Ones seriously and really indulges in the brotherhood fantasy, which is admittedly great to feel after this long of a time. It's not anything we haven't seen before but I do like how the game makes a genuine attempt to challenge the themes we're all familiar with.
Overall I'm shocked at how solid of a game this is. I was expecting something pretty bad, maybe even damaging to my perceptions of both Valhalla and the Assassin experience but they really managed to prove me wrong and rise above the way Ubisoft marketed this game. I'm still pinning all my narrative and mechanical hopes on Hexe to be that true evolution I'm looking for, but this was a great side attraction to play in the meantime and I'm confident by the time I reach the ending I'll be glad I gave it an honest shot.

It's pretty crazy just how strong of a new AC game Mirage is. I'm quite interested in how the last three entries will age over the next few years now that we have a game like it. In a lot of ways, Mirage feels like the game that Origins is often described as - a nostalgic blend of the old and new and all that.
But yeah, Hexe really is Ubi's chance to make some of the grand, sweeping changes that some (kinda delusional lol) older fans expected of Mirage, though I'm fairly confident that it won't be as cheap and self-referential as some fans would like the series to be. The thought of Hocking+McDevitt at the helm inspires a lot of hope for something truly innovative.

If they make Bordeaux a DLC studio for Codename Red we will riot. But tbh, I don't think that will happen. They have actually increased the number of employees drastically. So much actually that they moved into a new building. Chances are good that they will helm a new mainline title after Hexe.

My main problem with it is the absolute slog of almost every dialogue line in the game. I found the writing and directing to be abysmal at points, I very quickly found myself changing to Arabic spoken language just so I could tolerate the dialogue without wanting to blow my brains out. Other than that gameplay is fine, but nowhere near what I think people are hoping it would be, it still feels like a dlc to assassins creed valhalla.

I'm willing to bet they didn't have the budget or experience for that; Remember that Ubisoft Bordeaux are primarily a DLC studio that is usually responsible for stuff like Dead Kings from Unity, and no amount of quality in those DLC's can fully prepare you for the development of standalone game. Add onto that a lower budget, lack of staff, and shorter development time, and you get a game where it's VERY apparent that the team wanted to deliver something excellent despite all that was going against them.

This is sensational, AC in Persia is perfect, I was asking for an AC set in Persia during the reign of Emp. Khosrow I or Emp. Cyrus the Great, but this will be superb nonetheless.
And I am elated that Assasins Creed One is getting a graphical remake.
They should just work on the graphics and add more medieval arming sword options, I would love to use a beautiful Crusader arming sword as Altair.
I don't care one bit about the story outside of history/the animus, I just want the historical content.
I don't want open world, I don't want any propaganda of the WOKE cult, I don't want any damage points that fly around when you damage people as in AC Greece and AC Viking hype train, I don't want guns and I loathe MYTHOLOGICAL / MAGICAL shit. Keep it 100% Historical.
(I loathe the teleportation assassinations but I am sure that BS will be optional.)
I loved that AC1 gave tiny hints about God Three in One's existence/presence but that was never the focus.
(Subtle hints of Muslim demons /Jinn is mysterious ,accurate yet palpable as long as they don’t go overboard with it. )
I love the outfit choices and colour customisation via dyes , such a brilliant call back to AC 2.
I adore the addition of the Coptic (And other) Christians whom called Baghdad their home as well.
I hope they prove to be an extensive and welcoming ally in game.

In Unity you use a corner to remain out of sight, assassinating an enemy around a corner you kill the target and you neatly place the body against the wall you were hiding against also out of sight. I REALLY hope this will be present in Mirage.
I just hope the weapons in Mirage will be historically accurate, the shitty fantasy blades I have thus far seen in the trailers look horrific. They look gopping awful! I want to see ME Shamsiers,Persian Scimitars, Turkish Kilijes , Byzantine Spathas and praying for the Byzantine Paramerion. At least the weapons wielded by the guards thus far look superb.
The moves and combat is fluid and you have Horrus !!! My lovely pet falcon to help you once more.
I love that you have a single hidden blade, I do hope you can use it in combat.
I am so pleased to hear that the combat is back to the more calculated counter and timing system and no longer the idiotic button mashing with mobile game numbers flying everywhere. I look forward to buying and enjoying this game. I hope we see more similar ACs in the future.
Please give us the ability to choose what weapon layout to use. I want to use a single handed knife or a single handed sword. Don’t force us to constantly use a set layout like Sword+sword or Sword + dagger. I much rather prefer the weapon layout of AC1,2,Brotherhood compared to the forced double handed layout of Black Flag/Rogue.
I truly hope we will have proper combat in the game such as the superb melee combat from AC1 ,2 and Brotherhood.
No damage numbers , no health bars, I want only good fluid combat with counters and beautiful deadly movesets. Like this first 4 games in AC.
The fact that you have to gain rank in order to obtain better gear and combat abilities makes me so happy. I love that. Just like in AC1.

Although unlikely in the woke feminazi cultist era we find ourselves….
It will be epic if Roshan turns out to be a corrupt villain in the end.
I am so excited for Mirage.
    Creeds of the Future.
AC1 remains my all time favourite , I am elated to hear of the remake that will accompany this Mirage AC. Followed by AC Origins,2 and Brotherhood. My excitement is palpable , I can't wait to use beautiful moves to cut down my enemies with a Shamshir and single hidden blade. Perhaps we can even get the Byzantine Paramerion sword and perhaps we can ally with the Byzantines , ah the potential for gaming perfection is vast!
I am currently loving Origins and am highly excited for Mirage. I do hope it will be good.
I am also looking forward to be a Shinobi in 1400’s AD Japan .
If you want nuanced ,philosophical conflict I would love to be a Mongol Assassin in 1200’s AD. Where you end up accompanying Ghengis Khans great horde to China and Persia, where they laid waste to the Persians and you assassinate the Shah. Where you can see all the good and freedom the Mongol empire brings...but you also see the brutal violence and devastation brought about by the Mongol horde. Creating the largest empire in history following a charismatic leader whom united his people and provides religious freedom in the entire empire... yet he once entered a village , struck his sword into a doorway and proclaimed :'' Any person whose head is higher than this sword when walking past...will lose it....''
Pharaoh Teti 2323 BC First ever recorded assassination in history.
I love Origins and Egypts vast history, 2228 years before the reign of Cleopatra.
THIS should have been AC Origins.
To be an Aztec assassin in 1450s AD Tenochtitlan would be insane, killing Messo priests that aim to sacrifice humans to the Sun deity and assassinating corrupt Azetc kings ,replacing them with more capable leaders and then to fight against the invading Spanish conquistadors… so many possibilities.
Or Perhaps a Zaputech Assassin 1500s AD, hiding in the cloud forests as you fight against the encroaching forces of the Aztec Empire …then you hear rumours of a new people that made landfall ,far to the east….
Starting out using clubs, Obsidian knives , bolas, obsidian spears and then ending up getting an obsidian club and for range an atl-atl.
AC Babylon where you go up against the guards of Nebuchadnezzar I 1121 BC and help thwart his plans of the construction of the Tower of Babel.
Follow Cyrus II The Great 600BC of the Achaemenid Persian Empire
The Great King, King of Kings, King of Anshan, King of Media, King of Babylon, King of Sumer and Akkad, King of the Four Corners of the World to conquer Messopotamia, Anatolia and the levant.
Abolishing Slavery throughout the Empire , conquering Babylon, and rescuing the Isrealite people and escorting them back to their homeland ,to Jerusalem.
I hear Ea Nasir makes fine hidden blades from top quality copper in Sumer.
Medieval France where you fight against the Avignon Papacy of the 1260s AD - Treachery perpetrated by the Avignon Popes and the vile king Phillip IV the Fair 1264 AD, that betrayed the Templar order ,forced them to dissolve and brutally tortured and executed them. Thus in a twist, you end up helping the real / original Templar knights to escape torture and execution, to help them relocate, to start a new life (Such as in Portugal) and to help them fight against the new, evil powers in charge, the corrupt Avignon Papacy.
Where we get to revisit the events of ‘’Unities’’ start where legend sir Jack de Molay had cited before the tribunal of God that vile Phillip and the corrupt Pope Clement will be cursed by God Three in One.
This time , we will see his execution in person as an assassin allied to the knights.
One year after he perpetrated his treachery, Phillip IV and Pope Clement V were both struck down by God. Phillip having died in a ‘’Hunting Accident’’....
A few months after Phillips' burial , lightning struck the convent housing his remains and it burnt to the ground.
Altair's robes still remains my favourite outfit of all.
The 11th century True Templar knight outfit would be my absolute favourite if we get to play as a True Templar knight on 1100s AD Levant.
Thomas de Carnelie’s medieval assassin outfit is on par for me with Altair's robes.
All of those will look superb if we get a game set in Medieval France and the Levant where we start out as a medieval assassin but eventually join the True Templar knights.
And finally I need to go back to beautiful Constantinople but During the reign of Emp Justinian 500s AD, working for the Byzantine Emperors to Assassinate their numerous political enemies in Anatolia, the Levant,Mesopotamia and North Africa.

Hey man, don't know if you've made your decision yet but I'd say that Mirage's story is significantly more enjoyable if you understand the beats of Basim's story in AC:V. I'd throw on an AC:V Basim cutscene comp for sure.

EA and Activision could learn alot from Ubisoft on how to take a classic franchise and bringing it back to its roots

if only this was built from the ground up instead of being valhalla dlc. If anything bordeux has proven they have the right philosophy to making an AC game, they should get the proper budget to make one next time... but sadly quebec is up next..

Sort of. Quebec has mainly been put in charge of the RPG's, but it seems that Ubisoft hasn't entirely forgotten about their smaller studios since Montreal has been put in charge of newer experiences, not explicitly the older kind of AC games or the newer RPG's. (What that means exactly has yet to be determined.)

@@dragonbornexpress5650 oh I understand how the games have been sort of split up, I just don't care for the RPG games. They're borderline parodies. At least how they've diminished and disrespected the stealth and lore aspects of Assassin's Creed.
Mirage despite having the RPG bones was much closer to something recognizably assassin's creed. But I can't wait to light my katana on fire and deal poison damage. Just in case my teleporting hidden blade isn't high enough level to sever the carotid artery lol I am a black samurai after all.

@@DeadFool321 How do they disrespect the lore? Odyssey maybe, but Valhalla and Origins arguably strengthened it. Regardless, your opinion, and completely lost the plot anyways.

@@dragonbornexpress5650 origins fumbled everything to do with Brutus so they could prop up Aya as this heckin amazing mentor who assassinated both Caesar and cleopatra. Which completely sidelined bayek and his revenge quest which has a very anticlimactic ending despite him being the main character. And the establishment of the creed is pretty much down to like 2 cutscenes maybe 3 if you include the dlc.
Valhalla tried to do too much with the first civ ties and connections. Devoting an entire storyline to an optional magical region really showed how incapable they were of interweaving it meaningfully or organically into eivors viking clan story. The whole thing was a mess, tho partially because of the crap Odyssey saddled the franchise with. Either way, all of these games would be better off if they were mirage sized and not 100 hour epics that have simultaneously too much world building and too little story.
But I've lost the plot, okay buddy sure. Let's just agree ubisoft wants both of our money despite whatever our opinions. Good day to you my fellow assassin.

Something also needs to be done about getting faction tokens. If you don’t have a particular faction token from questing or completing a contract or pickpocketing-which the game doesn’t tell you about-then you can’t see how a certain opportunity would help on a mission. I understand the realism they were going for in that you can’t give what you don’t have, but You should just be able to pay people regular money you acquire in game (dirhim?) like other AC games.

shame the story blew ass in mirage. I liked the stealth a lot in this game. The combat in this game was dogass its just you the player falling asleep while waiting to parry just like the og games. In which back then everyone complained about but not some who got rose tinted glasses who are praising this for some reason. That being said I enjoy the new games more so in the sense of gameplay and odyssey had the best endgame in all of AC. I think with Mirage they could use all these mechanics to remake the older games like AC1, AC2, etc. I believe this would be the best option for them. Blackflag is already being remade with the new naval system but I believe that game should have the combat of the trilogy and not mirage since edward isn't an assassin. I wouldn't mind a game like mirage to be released again if it had a better story but I also don't want them to get rid of the games like the trilogy in future releases.

Yeah, there seems to be a pretty stark divide between critics and players this time around. Hopefully Ubi aren't too deterred by journos.
