I can't praise you enough for your knowledge that you share with us or your truthfulness when you make a mistake & show us how to turn this around to our advantage. I look forward to each new video you put out. Know we love both of you. ❤ 😂
😮 Wait, What, I can't believe that you didn't know what you were doing when you started doing this. You mean to tell me that you weren't born with this knowledge 🤔😂. Everybody starts somewhere. Bless you for being able to admit it. ❤
I inherited a buffet when my grandmother died 25 years ago. The veneer was lifting and the finish was worn and scratched. I knew it couldnt be saved in original condition. I just glued down the veneer and painted it with wine colored latex paint. I had never painted anything before. Even today, I can't believe what a great job I did. Did I sand it? Probably. Did I use a primer? Probably. Did I roll it or brush it? Rolled it probably. My memory is so bad. What I do know is it's still in my house. There are no drips and no brush marks. No lifting. No chipping. And it is still gorgeous! Today, I hate painting furniture and don't do a great job on smaller pieces either! LOL! I guess it turned out well because it was a labor of love. I LOVE watching Yvonne paint anything. She is a master.
Both cubbies look great with the GCR touch on them. I would have to go with the green one, I'm just not a red (any shade) person, it just do it for me. They're beautiful Yvonne, no doubt they will sell quickly. Thanks for showing your early painting, as it just goes to show we can all get better with time and experience. xx
Love both pieces. I so enjoy watching you reinvent everything...from littles to furniture! At 71, any day that you can get out of bed and put your feet on the floor is a good day. Life is a classroom and if you learn something that day, it's a bonus. I have learned so many things from you just from watching your videos. I am inspired to try new things. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.❤
Love this style of cabinet!! I thrifted and painted my first dresser, at 16 yrs old (60 yrs ago). Let me tell you, there was nothing but regular wall paint or house paint. I learned about milk paint about 10 yrs later and, yeah, Yankee blue was the big color! Have just recently placed a milk paint order. Going to try it again ! I have many pieces that looked like yours. Trust me, we all learn as we go along. Love your channel. ❤
Beautiful as always! You’ve got me hooked on milk paint! And Fusion products are my other vice! Yes, we all evolve. I’m totally embarrassed about what I did just a year ago! Thank you so much for showing us your learning curve. Because of you I have persevered and am doing something I love! 🤗 (although your husband is far more “handy” than mine when help is needed! 😅
Those are beautiful! How funny your piece is back to the original color family ! I have to say I did grow up knowing the different paints ( ONLY and only because my father was a contractor and did a lot of painting 🥰 ) So I was able to learn that from him….I’m still upset I didn’t get to play with the power tools ! And my Dad was a mixer of colors and stains too! Never could you match his colors or get the answer to “what color is this ?” I miss my Dad😞 Beautiful, beautiful pieces Yvonne ! I also think people are starting a “add” a LITTLE touch of color to their farmhouse styles 🥰🥰👍🥰🥰
Cherry Pie is my new fave color!❤ One of the reasons I gravitated to you was because of the black and white you painted with. I do appreciate color though.
Yvonne, I think most of us started where you did, with a secondhand piece and an idea, but no real clue. And now here we are with our power tools, stable of paints and finishes, and hardware stash from other projects! And we've all made mistakes and we learn as we go, but it's such a fun and rewarding process to give a discarded or unwanted item a new life! ❤️ Thank you!
I loved how both cabinets turned out. I especially loved how the black wax enriched the cherry pie paint! You did such an awesome job on both pieces. 😊❤
Yuvonne, I have a red one drawer table, and a green 3 drawer chest that I painted at least 25 years ago. The green one was red first. They both are vintage . I love color.
You've taught us so much through y'all's videos. Well all have room to learn. If you're not learning your not trying. ❤ I love you are trying colors. I must say your black and white drew me in but a little color of fun too. Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
Lovely! And especially loved seeing you change a piece done long ago when you didn’t know what you know now! You are so right, we learn new stuff all the time! Thanks for sharing! Yes we all evolve which is what makes life so interesting! PS love the colors especially the cherry!
I’ve seen the worst first painting jobs! I had one three drawer Chest about 30inches wide I painted no less than five times. Oh, not one right after the other, but thank God, with each painting I got a little bit better. I was great with walls, but not very good with furniture for ever so long. RUclips has been a big help. Watching other people paint has taught me an awful lot about brushes as well. So I’m one of those who like to watch other people paint.
I really like the two tall skinny cabinets. Not sure which color is my favorite, I would take them both! Yes I truly have evolved in my crafting skills since watching you, (and I've been crafting for 45 years) Several of my early projects went to the trash because I messed them up so bad🤣🤣I only craft for myself and family and it's my therapy.
I'll tell ya it's a hard choice trying to pk what I like the best. But, after much soul searching it's the Cherry that got me. It has just dawned on me how much I have learned from you :) Love those cabinets , so cute. . Thank you so much. God Bless ya Chick. Hugs, Rebekah
We live n we learn. I’ve been down that same road you had walked. Yes, we’ve come along way baby! I love these type of tall cabinets. Liked how you called them chimney cabinets. Perfect name for them. The color you picked for them are great colors. Really like the green n the cherry pie looks super when you added the black wax. Back in the 90tys they used that mauve like color. Your color is more perfect color that they would of used it primitive time. Either way they look great n sure to sell. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟
I love them both! No need to apologize. We all evolve through the years. We all learn something new and do it better next time. You did a marvelous job! I haven't used milk paint yet, but watching you, you have inspired me to try it. I'm one of those people that like the perfect look and as you mentioned, milk paint has variations on the way it dries. Need to get brave.😂Maybe one of these days I will. Need to order some.
Very inspiring video. I'm really liking the green milk paint. I really like the crackle. As always, I appreciate the step by step process you give us, this cabinet turned out great. The fo over cabinet looks good also! Thank you! For showing us how step by step to fix mess-ups so helpful.
I am SO grateful for you sharing your growth! I had NO IDEA, up until this video, that exterior is a no no!!!! I always say Yvonne does this…… when I am creating! I have so much DIY paint, and I am much to lazy for it! My Fusion is my favorite and seeing you use it just reinforces my need for it! 1 and done!!!! These pieces are always favorites of mine!
I am a self taught painters as well, we live and we learn. I have a few pieces I need to redo. I have learned alot through my mistakes and by watching you. You are a great teacher ❤
Georgous! Tyfs your boo boo and know how much you teach every video you post… I’ve just discover you over Christmas so I’m trying to go all the way back and watch at least one a day and learn something from every one u post !! Ty…. Love love the cherry pie !
Love these little jelly cabinets. Colors sure do go in and out lol we were house painters for years and different people like different colors for sure
Love the colors. The cabinets are just gorgeous. You work very hard on making things the way everyone likes to see them in the primitive world of decorating.
I’ve learned so much from you!!..I just placed an order today for some sweet pickens milk paint..flour sack and in a pickle..I have the confidence to start projects using the milk paint!..I can’t thank u enough!!..love your channel and your wonderful work❤
Your colors are great. I'm more confident in refinishing furniture and other items that need repainted thanks to you sharing your techniques. Thanks so much!
I painted my first pieces to flip in 2020. Many times I wish I knew the person who bought it. I would love to know today how well it is holding up. I watched videos and talked with other furniture flippers and no one said anything about priming or scuff sanding.
I really love the cherry pie piece. I did my dresser over last spring I love it I did a white wash after I sanded and stained it I added transfers and she is beautiful now
I appreciate you sharing it all with us, I have learned so much from you. I want to try the milk paint (I already have several colors n the sample size, I have been hesitant to try because it is unpredictable but you showed me how to distress and age if I don’t get the crackle so I am diving in tomorrow and see what happens🤗Thank you
I exactly need this now. I was given a gate leg table with a badly damaged top as in geat abd water marks. I was thinking to paint top black and keep legs original color. I want to make it durable. I may go back and review your no bleed techniques.
I’ve decided I don’t care for the milk paint finish. I love to watch you do anything with any type of paint but there are other paints I like better! I think I like the fusion or chalk paint best with clear wax finish!!!
Your going to have those pine knots still bleed through that paint over time. They will even bleed through black paint. At the very least you should have sprayed them with shellac.
They turned out beautiful, I think you were too hard on yourself...lol. If we are all honest anyone who doesn't resell, we've all did poor paint jobs at some point and yours wasn't even that bad.
hi ho, here we go. i absolutely love your stuff. but it's driving me crazy that you don't distress around the knobs. where people would be opening and closing it, it should be distressed there. you silly Lady.
I can't praise you enough for your knowledge that you share with us or your truthfulness when you make a mistake & show us how to turn this around to our advantage. I look forward to each new video you put out. Know we love both of you. ❤ 😂

Great job! Really like both cabinets! Good size and love the colors!! As the saying goes: Practice Makes Perfect! These are perfect!! TFS
Thank you so much!
Love the colors!😍 I remember when I started watching you and you never did color, so we’re always evolving!❤
So true!

Just beautiful! You make it look so easy!
Good job
Georgous! Tyfs your boo boo and know how much you teach every video you post… I’ve just discover you over Christmas so I’m trying to go all the way back and watch at least one a day and learn something from every one u post !! Ty…. Love love the cherry pie !
Love the green and then the pine!❤
My personal preference is the cherry one.
You continue to perfect the “perfectly imperfect”.
Happy Easter
Love these little jelly cabinets. Colors sure do go in and out lol we were house painters for years and different people like different colors for sure
Have you ever heard about using a crockpot with Hot water and putting your hardware in to soak off paint? Seems to work really well.
Yes.. yes I have. I haven’t ever found a need for one. Hot water in a bowl so far has I always worked for me.
Love your channel’
Two of my favorite colors for decor.
Love the colors. I have a similar cupboard I need to paint. Thanks for the inspiration!
I think we all have those first pieces. Those 2 cabinets came out beautiful, but your white one was cute too, knots and all.
Thank you! 🤗
Love how these cabinets turned out. Really good job 👏🏼 I like the colors.
Love the colors. The cabinets are just gorgeous. You work very hard on making things the way everyone likes to see them in the primitive world of decorating.
Thank you so much!
I love that you showed the beginning of your painting. I want to start and this is encouraging
Thank you for sharing that❤
Love the red.
Love that you have started using some colors, I also love blk & white always a safe bet.

Oh my gosh, youve inspired me to do this to my old beat up corner cabinet. Thank you, its beautiful! 😍
Beautiful video as always!!😊
Love your “New” colorful life!! Lol

❤
I think it’s encouraging for us to know that you were not always as skilled as you are now
I exactly need this now. I was given a gate leg table with a badly damaged top as in geat abd water marks. I was thinking to paint top black and keep legs original color. I want to make it durable. I may go back and review your no bleed techniques.
I like both colors. I find I head to colors. I. Actually looking for a mustard color to try. Any suggestions on something in that color palette ?
Oh.. yes!! www.pigletscloset.com/products/curry-milk-paint?variant=39351552901178
This is an amazing color.
I’ve decided I don’t care for the milk paint finish. I love to watch you do anything with any type of paint but there are other paints I like better! I think I like the fusion or chalk paint best with clear wax finish!!!
❤❤❤❤❤
So when you use shellac, do you have to cover an entire piece or just the area, like a knot hole? I've seen people do both but I've never used it....
If you think the rest won’t bleed.. than just the knots. But if you think the whole piece will bleed through your paint that spray the whole piece.
Your going to have those pine knots still bleed through that paint over time. They will even bleed through black paint. At the very least you should have sprayed them with shellac.
What brand is the brush you are using to paint the green milk paint with?

Thank you! I just love everything you make over!
Do you see the face in the door?
Yes.. I did.. I showed that in my haul video on my journey channel..
They turned out beautiful, I think you were too hard on yourself...lol. If we are all honest anyone who doesn't resell, we've all did poor paint jobs at some point and yours wasn't even that bad.
