    Thank you for gentle, not invasive, music in the background. It allowed me to engage with what you were saying.
    Can't wait to apply everything I've learned.

    There's another way. If you file and shape quickly between coats, after activating every coat, you'll have a lot less work at the end. I find that activating every coat and shaping one coat at a time really cuts down the filing time. Yes, you'll lose some of the layer, but if you want a smoother second layer, it's worth it. As you work, the filing time is shorter and shorter because you've already taken a few seconds to rough shape the nail as you go.
    Also, you are completely sure that the deepest layers are fully activated, which will help with lifting.

      That’s a great idea. I’m new to dip powder and prone to gel allergies. I’m trying dip because I miss my nails! Is it safe to activate between dip layers?

    Hey Melissa you read my mind! I thought it was just me with the lumpy dip powder before filing. 😜 I too used to file like your old way but have learned over time to do better. Thank you for validating my methods and making me feel better❣️

    Ever since I followed your filing method, my nails have looked so much better!! They are not bulky on the sides anymore and they are crisp. Thank you for this and your previous videos on filing as it has saved my mani's. Now that im in the habit, it's so much quicker now to do my nails💜💕

    Thank you for video ❤️ I’m so convinced now that so much of it depends on your foundation before you dip also..I’ve watched so many videos on filing and still watch them over and over and always learn something new..also find it easier to get in a habit with filing..

    This was awesome!! I got away from using the hard file but for the end and end sides. I use to do the sidewalls but just stopped once I learned the right ration of liquid to powder and my nails were no longer 1/2” thick! 😅
    BUT I was having those bumpy side walls with little dips and looking raggedy as you showed in your first example.
    Thank you for this excellent video and your concise explanation too! I’m following you too!

      Thank you so much! And yes, be sure your files are seasoned! That means you'll file down the sharp edges of the file so they aren't harsh on the skin ❤️❤️❤️

    When using the gel method instead of dip liquids, should/could I be building an apex as well? I feel like when I use gel method my nails always have like a “dip” from my cuticle to my free edge…

    • @MelissasManis
      @MelissasManis  2 года назад

      I don't use an efile on myself just because I feel more in control with the hand file. I'll use an efile to smooth on others sometimes. If you feel comfortable enough with an efile you definitely can.
