Oddly enough, "The Ultimate Sin" is one of my favorite early Ozzy albums. I recall Jake talking about how he took a much more active role in songwriting on that album, since he'd gotten screwed over on "BATM" by Sharon because "You're the new guy, you just do as you're told." That album has Jake's wonderfully quirky and melodic playing and writing all over it, and I hugely enjoy it to this day. Bob has every reason to speak up and make his side known, and here's to hoping that the Sharon camp (since Ozzy's a non-entity) doesn't destroy him for it. That woman is ruthless and downright cruel, and I lost respect for her a long time ago.

Even when Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake were let go, Randy called Bob and told him he had nothing to do with that decision. Randy wanted to leave also but Bob told Randy it’s a better opportunity for him since he was unknown at that time. If you look up an interview of Grover Jackson (He built Randy’s White Concorde Jackson and black Jackson Rhoads) he mentions a story about Randy being upset wondering when will he get paid. I hope over time people realize the real story. There’s a lot of re-writing history with the Osbournes.

Bob's book, "For Facts Sake" is a priceless view of the REAL music world from the inside. He is one the most iconic rock musicians and authors in history. Sharon protected and propped up Ozzy irregardless to who she messed over in the process. All of their great interviews praising Randy Rhoads never mentioned how he was only paid a few hundred a week because he signed a BS contract. His mother had to sue Ozzy and Sharon for his earnings after he died. Had he lived, he was leaving Ozzy anyway because of the raw deal he had been given. By the time they got Zakk, maybe they finally changed on how they treated "the help." I love Ozzy music but "The Prince of Darkness" is truly only a figure head for the true evil demon named Sharon.

Yeah, Ozzy contributed the melodies... That was his part of the song writing process. He was brilliant at it. MUCH better than anyone else they ever worked with. Tony & RJD wrote some good tunes for "Heaven and Hell", but nothing else from Ozzy's ex-bandmates ever came close to his Sabbath and solo albums. Think about that for one second... If Bob Daisley was such a genius songwriter and Ozzy had zero input, then why hasn't Bob written any other memorable tunes? Or Zakk, Jake and Randy with Quiet Riot?
It's terrible that Ozzy and Sharon cheated his ex-bandmates out of their full royalties. But it's just idiotic the way people now want to rewrite history and claim that Ozzy contributed NOTHING to those songs. It was a collaborative process. Aside from the credits on the Bark At the Moon album cover, nobody ever claimed Ozzy wrote all the music himself. His guitarists would come up with a riff; the other bandmates would jam along and hash out a basic song structure and then Ozzy would put his stamp on it with a vocal melody. And then Bob (or Geezer) would go away and figure out some lyrics for Ozzy to sing.
It's odd the way Ozzy never wrote the lyrics. But apart from that, there is nothing unusual about this songwriting process. It's the same dynamic with many singers and guitarists: Jagger, Richards.... Bono, The Edge.... Scott, Young & Young... Tyler, Perry... Halford, Tipton...

They can be both good and bad, but they never have any bearing on whether I like the song. It's the beat, the riffs, and the melody which counts... The problem with Daisley is that he is like a battered and abused woman who keeps returning to the same man who is abusing her, except in this case the abuser was probably Sharon (& Ozzy to some extent). As for Bark at the Moon, other than the title track, it's good but something isn't right, like the guitar is not prominent enough, not the centerpiece (but there is a certain darkness or mysteriousness to the album that I like about it). The Ultimate Sin is Ozzy in his glam period and it suffers for it. I have listened to this album multiple times thinking that it must be better than I'm giving it credit for, but each time I listen, I'm left with the same negative feelings. Sure, there's some catchy tunes, but in the end, it just underwhelms. I prefer Bark at the Moon. I know some people think Jake's two albums with Ozzy are better than Blizzard and Diary. I don't think they're even close. Blizzard and Diary are truly special, not because of what happened to Randy but because Randy got to use his warehouse of riffs in a setting far removed from Quiet Riot's largely amateur efforts. He had this stockpile of riffs and licks and with Daisley's help (and I'm sure Ozzy played some part) they were all put to excellent use. Rhoads' sense of melody and his structured playing (as opposed to EVH's off the cuff sound, brilliant in its own right) fit perfectly with Ozzy's voice and Daisley's lyrics. I think those two albums stand the test of time. After Bark at the Moon -- which was a step down in quality from Blizzard and Diary -- Ozzy never fully recovered. Zakk Wylde has his fans. I guess I'm just not one of them. To my way of thinking, Ozzy -- in regards to his solo career -- has been living off of Blizzard and Diary the last 40 years. Back to Bob Daisley, he's either a genius who never got the credit he deserved or maybe his account of things is partly true but not entirely true. I don't know. Funny, I just typed that without realizing at first the significance of those words.

Bob Daisley is a KILLER bass player, and raises everyone's playing a level or two when he's in the band. Look what he did for Tony/Sabbath on The Eternal Idol. I think Randy was better friends with Rudy then Ozzy. Read Rudy's book and it sheds light on how ozzy treated Randy like crap at times. Randy didn't care about being a rock star or any of that BS. Randy just wanted to play his guitar, go back to school for classical guitar, teach. That was Randy's thing he was musicians and not a rock star. No ego just a down to earth person.
