This guy teaches Melodyne better than anyone else that has made videos. So far he's the only one I've found that makes sense, knows the product intimately, and is loaded with critical information as he goes through it. I recommend to Melodyne that they don't use anyone else to teach their product unless that person is a great deal more effective than Rich is -- if such a person exists.
I would also like to compliment this MELODYNE Features series. MELODYNE 5 is a fantastic, powerful program. Your videos help a lot. The way you explain it understands e.g. also someone like me, who is a German and of course doesn't speak perfect English. I got MELODYNE 5 essential in connection with NECTAR 3 and start working with MELODYNE step by step. A great program and excellent authentic results.
Great video Rich. I like that your videos are relatively short and don't take on too much in one session. I am fairly new to Melodyne so these are very useful. I will look forward to your next one.

Great video! Rich is super cool. He was my teacher at SAE in New York when I attended. Always helpful, and explains everything so well! Love this series!
Straight after watching this, I found the collaboration w John Paul Jones using When The Levee Breaks raising funds, um, somehow concerning climate change, not sure if education or research or helping those affected(?). Anyway the arrangement is kickass stunning with musicians from around the globe. I had been agreeing with comments here that rock was over. This song popped out at me.
Hi, great video! Does anyone know if there Is a way to get the background vocals to quantize to a reference track. Say you are editing 5 background vocals and you want them to all match the timing of the lead. do you have to go through and manually edit all 5 tracks by hand like in the video or is there a way to get them to snap to the main vocal?
So if I understand this correctly, I can also insert a piano part that plays the lead vocal line as an orientation, to match the lead vocals to the piano track. then I have a visual view. then they should more or less overlap? a colored vocal line and a gray piano line. (google translate I am Dutch). THX '4 he vid's
Rich is using Melodyne studio here. This is our multi-track edition and the only one that shows all Melodyne tracks in one single window. That’s why you don’t see the info pane in your Melodyne edition.
this guys is a great teacher however I am wondering which version this is wish they would say up front… I have essentials I only want to learn about that don’t wanna get halfway through a video of find out it’s for one of the more expensive ones… this may be my dense ness … but i’ve spent way too much time trying to figure out simple things…like where to get the blobs to show up took me a long time to find where to have that happen…auto scroll is confusing button on the top left but sometimes a symbol on the bottom right hand screen is on its side… what’s with that? lots of things are confusing to a new user that should be explained better
Hey Rich, hope you see this, theres a question i have regarding editing in melodyne Can i time align a performance based on another reference track? For example if i tune and time a vocal tracks and theres one excat double do i have to go Through the process again? Also if possible is thre any way to do it to several tracks?
I need a series like this specifically for melodyne assistant :/ seems like most of the features he uses aren't available to me in assistant unfortunately
Is this video Melodyne 5 Assistant? If so, I can't figure out how to get multiple tracks up for timing with the lead vocal. How do you do that? I can't seem to find it. Great video series, Thanks.
I think that would be "pitch variation" that you can increase or decrease with a macro. I think other than that, you can "split" the note with the note splitter tool so that you can edit it more specifically. Still learning Melodyne
Why can't Melodyne just snap/quantize all backing vocals to the lead vocal? Why make it a tedious job to zoom in and slide and do it manually? Makes no sense that VocAlign can do this but full Melodyne Studio cannot.
Hi Ben. Zoom like what? There are a lot ways to zoom in Melodyne. See if this article helps you: helpcenter.celemony.com/M5/doc/melodyneStudio5/en/M5tour_PlaybackScrollZoom_studio_2?env=standAlone
@@celemony Oh yeah I should have provided a timestamp. I think I was talking about how you quickly switched to zoom tool at 3:50, I now know you can set keyboard shortcuts for all the different tools so I think that's what you did there

Hi there...been absolutely loving the tutorials on pitch, but this one on timing was just painful to watch....(no offense). I can't even imagine going through an entire song manually adjusting the timing when ReVoice Pro does it with three clicks on an entire section and it's 99% perfect.

Nice! Glad to see some more detailed and to the point for specific features in this excellent software! Thank you for the tips and education!
Nice to Celemony making more videos showing Melodyne's features. With so much features and power it's easy miss out on some of the features.

Dear Santa, I wish in Melodyne 6 there'll be a macro that does this (VocAlign style but better)
ReVoice Pro.
And I hope that they add a pencil tool like in waves tune.
Sometimes it’s so much easier just to draw what we want !!!

Hello, in Melodyne studio you have a ‘Quantize to reference track’ option in the Correct Pitch macro. Hope this helps.

Agreed. I've never seen greyed out blob menus on the left, so I'm guessing my version doesn't support this feature. But so right, great teacher.

In Melodyne studio, you have a ‘Quantize to reference track’ feature in the Quantize Time Macro. It can also be applied to multiple tracks at once.
