This deserves so much more attention. What a brilliant tutorial. So clear, even for a newbie like me. It really show off Melodyne's potential. Thanks a lot and greetz from France.
Thanks for the superb tutorial. I really like the conciseness...no rambling, just great info. Not only do you offer the technical stuff with clarity but include the genius of how to be creative with the tools in program. I no longer see Melodyne as an aid in audio production; I see it an an an indispensable tool. Again, thank you sooooo much.
Happy to see that you find this video useful. Thanks for the feedback!

I agree but it won't sound as good with a male voice. Try it to see it for yourself. Female voices have slightly less sonic character which makes pitch changes sound more natural than with male voices.
Excellent Tutorial. Looks like most authentic way to create harmony which almost sounds natural. So many small tips really makes this tutorial invaluable.
I can see this being a useful tool for auditioning harmonies (I'm actually going to try this out tonight). That being said, once you've found what you want, why not "humanize" the harmony by actually singing the harmony? Mute the lead vox, sing along with the robot, then delete the robot. Maybe this doesn't apply to pop, but in the age of digital recording I want to preserve as much soul in my music as I can.
Yes, you can absolutely do this and use Melodyne as a composition or arrangement tool only. Or you mix the Melodyne version with real recorded harmony vocals. Lots of choices. 🙂
Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much for taking the time. Melodyne is such a powerful tool. I use it all the time. I can't imagine not having this application. It is a must have editor :)
Terrific explanation with easy to follow visual examples. Total game changer. I am working hard on learning to harmonize my vocals, lately i found waves harmony but it does not alwags trigger the intended harmony. This, although more tedious works, is a good workaround. Ty 🦄🌠
Took me a second to figure out how to add Time Handle spots, and you have to double-click, at least that worked for me. Thanks again for an awesome tutorial! (former SAE student!!!)
Hello David. First of all, thank you for the great tips you have already given me. They have helped me many times. But this tip was particularly helpful because I often work with polyphonic melodies and only have one recorded voice available. I learned a lot. The editing of how I can make the voices sound different is wonderful. Also I never realized, that i can turn notes oon an off. WOW! Nevertheless, I much prefer to work with separate tracks, as this gives me the opportunity in the DAW to edit the background tracks more individually with effects, etc. (make them quieter, switch them on and off, PAN, etc.) Best regards Helmut
First time I used Melodyne we discovered we could use Melodyne to re-work vocal melodies and worn-out harmonies. Once that's all sorted out, my artist can ding the new lines, and if they can't hit the changed lines, that's okay, cos I've still got the Melodyned lines 😁
Great techniques! I must say I'd definitely have flattened out that ending vibrato on the harmonies, or stretched them out with the time handles. Wobbling in unison really makes a doubled vocal sound doubled.
the combination of the videos and the software is like this situation where, as I get things done I planned, all these extra gifts and opportunities are available in the sidelines, all along the way.
Brilliant Rich! I wish I would have had you as my teacher for each and every class I have taken from Kindergarden to the present. I might actually have learned some useful skills in life, had that been the case. Thank you for using simple examples that focus on the topic at hand. (Are you listening other RUclips content creators?😅 😂 🤣)
Melodyne requires much more effort than other pitch correction . Melodyne also is the most subtle pitch correction but sooooo worth it .. ….it can be a hassle to adjust and it would be great if included in their studio package is a live /version . Still amazed at what melodyne can do. Amazing software . The vocal effect like Cher is easily achieved but there’s so much more melodyne can do . Imagine an entire almost perfect vocal and one word /vocal off. Melodyne subtle artifacts is where it’s at. No I’m not affiliated with celemony
Cool, but wouldn't it be quicker to duplicate the main vocal track first, then work on the duplicate(s)? Also, wouldn't it be quicker to just click drag the selected main vocal note(s) in the duplicated track up (or down) to the 3rd or 5th position, etc? I believe these techniques would yield the same result, but be a bit more streamlined, especially when copying whole vocal sections to harmony positions (then making individual note alterations to tailor the harmonies). I do love your amplitude and timing, etc., suggestions to humanize the performance . . . great ideas. Comment: I find when using this technique the harmony parts created starts sounding strange and synthetic and some phase doubling changes the amplitudes in some spots which requires a lot of trim adjustments and EQ'ing. Perhaps the amplitude and other techniques you mentioned will solve some of these issue. Thanks so much for the great presentation.
It's such a great programm. It's undoubtly the best software for deep editing audio tracks in the highest possible quality. My feeling is that nearly all professional producers use it but they don't talk about it. Have you ever tried playing around with the overtones spectrum (not harmonies)? You can deep dive into the resonances and tame the energy of dedicated notes or support the character of an instrument. Not just one or two even or odd overtones, like in some tube overdrive plugins - but all overtones!
This guy is fkn great. He looks like someone that could kill me for fun, but before he does that, teaches me how to use my Melodyne Studio like an expert ! 🤣
In the video, Rich uses Melodyne studio. But the Chord Track and the corresponding background grid are also available in all Melodyne editions, including Melodyne assistant. 🙂

4:30 blew my mind! I had no idea this was possible. Sounds so natural.

One of the best explanations, clear and concise. You are making it so simple, even tho its not thank you
So well presented, understandable and professional. This is what gives so much credibility to the product in addition.
Melodyne is the most powerful audio editing tool I know about. It is a mixture of spectral editing and audio editing, so nice!
Excellent Tutorial. Looks like most authentic way to create harmony which almost sounds natural. So many small tips really makes this tutorial invaluable.
Thanks for your feedback, and thanks for watching!
I have listen to about 6 of your video repeatedly and i've learn so much. Thank you. I've upgrade.
I love your tutorial videos! Short, precise and very clearly explained. You rule! Thank you very much, Rich!
the dopamine rush i get from this is so good after manually duplicating tracks and manually pitch automating for like 5 hours in ableton
One of the best tutorial I've ever seen on Melodine ! THANKS !!!
Hey Rich, You pay excessive attention to details and this trait yours wonderful. Thank you so much!

Yes , this is the best way to figure out harmonies :)

I've been using waves harmony, and although faster in work flow, it does not always trigger the intended harmony. This is a great idea and tool 🦄🌠
This is a great tutorial! I want to do harmonies for my songs and this makes it so easy! Greetings from the USA.
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!

Is this the top studio edition of Melodyne? Didn’t know about the harmony analysis available. I use assistant edition.
