I'd argue Bethesda needs to give us D and E classes too. I'll see what I can do! Just need to make some cash.
The only difference between a,b and c class is the reactor. You change the reactor and it instantly becomes the given class.
Yeah besides reactor output they're all functionally identical. It would be nice if the different classes had minimum mass requirements, for instance, so you'd know an A class was a small vessel, B class right in the middle, and C class acting as massive freighters.
I'd definitely like to see optimal designs at each class of ship as well. I always love watching this type of video from you as they never fail to give me ideas.
One thing that might be interesting with Class A would be to do the best you can make without any ship skills to unlock items.
yeah I do not have Ship Design level 1 😅
Deputized questline gives you almost the best A class ship out there (very good reactor and engines), but the weapons suck. If you replace them with particle weaponry, you become almost unbeatable.
Stroud quest also gives you a pretty cool C class ship, and it requires you to do just 2 board missions and consult engineers. But the reactor sucks, so I replaced it with the one that gives 38 power (39 with Vasco assigned). I've replaced weapons with 4 Automatic PBOs, 2 usual PBOs and 2 rocket systems (there's one system that gives an insane damage but has only 2 rockets available). The result is that I rip 70 lvl ships to shreds.
Also a helpful tip - Automatic PBOs are a bit better for power management since they:
1) Recharge very fast (1/3 power is enough for them to recharge almost fully while you're searching for your next target)
2) Better DPS
3) Less power doesn't decrease DPS, only recharge time
Great how-to for this A-class build! I would love to see a similar guide for B and C-class that are designed to punch hard yet still have cargo capacity.
I would hope that by the time you reach C-class ships you could have all the features you want with a reactor big enough to power everything. I'm not personally a fan of needing to build multiple ships for dedicated purposes and would like to settle on one single ship that fills all my needs.
I love the frontier so much when I got the star eagle I just completely deleted it expect for the level 4 components and rebuilt the frontier with the upgraded reactor, engines, shields, grav drives weapons and cargo bay

i did this with the starter ship. i turned it into a beast, i rebuild as i skil up
It didn't dawn on me that when you said to keep 1 type of weapon that there different variants also had another weapon designation until I saw you add that other PAR. Mind blowing!!! Combined with a War Wars style bomber or a USA WW2 era P-38 design with a holo center and it will make an AMAZING ship both in combat and for esthetics.
Why don't I have all the parts shown in this video when building? I am at my ship builder landing pad. I don't get it. The reactor isn't there and the grav drive isn't there either. I just have the alpha-2000 and for the reactor, I only have the one that is around 18k price wise.
Edit: Oh, I believe you need the starship design perk. Edit2: Apparently, these RUclipsrs say that you can build this so and so startership early on in the game, well they don't tell you need to be a certain level for all the parts they have to show up or having enough skills in starship design and piloting to be apply to use those parts. They just expect you to be a very high level early on the game and they also skip the video and add parts that you couldn't see them adding. So frustrating.

Pretty good dogfighting without using lockon at all. I find it makes all the difference in Very Hard against multiple ships.
Obviously a very capable combat focused design. Could work both as a smuggler/blockade runner and bounty hunter ship. Though it may lack in other amenities, quite spartan overall. The positioning of the landing engines is quite unbalanced though. Need to put the second pair significantly further forward.
Would love to see a parts list for easy reference when it comes time to build this myself
For example, i dont think you showed what engines are being used? I watched the video twice to take note of all the parts.
They need to make it so you can actually manufacture your own ship parts, research, build etc. Would make building resource outposts seem useful.
Please do not be offended, when I say your skills on the best way to fight are bad, terrible even, but you did show that you could do it and still kick everyone else's ass. Well done.
You are aware that you put that money to have 100 maneuverability and 150 top speed, and once the enemy was mad you could just have turned and run for the wilds then turns and used skills to back up at 150 and shoot at the ships that were the closest, they will just keep chasing you forever and if you mess up you can just turn and run and boost and run and boost while you await the shields to recover or get distance and then turn and shoot them to death :) However, I was still impressed.

less than ~27.25 jump range means you can't go to high level systems, or you need an landing pad in each of these systems to switch to the "powerful" ship
If you haven’t done a Deimos ship build I got you…. Kinda. It’s an A class and has 99 mobility with 36 damage to shields and hull. I have a weapon specifically for disabling ships as it does 1 damage to shields but 30 to electrical. Fuel of 210 with hull being at 612, with shields at 486. Cargo is a nice 1215. Reactor is only 23…

I forgot where i found them but I have 4 partical weapons with a 3500m range 73 dmg to shields and 73 Hull. When they hit its chunking damage. They are a Class A weapon set. My ship is an A/B hybrid general purpose modded Frontier, too big for dedicated Hauler with close to 3k cargo space but not B classed. character level 23. I would love to see some of those bad boys in action on a deadicated fighter if you make another one of these videos 👍 Happy hunting and keep up the vids
The 3310s will do that if you mount 4 of them. Should give you 72 Particle and is A class. Mount a pair of Spark EMPs if you want to board ships. 3310s can be found in Deimos Shipyard and Spark EMPs on New Atlantis. I got the 3310s fairly early in the game so the level locks placed on ship equipment appearing in vendors shouldn't be an issue. Good starting ship to grab is the Warhorse as it has a Reactor providing 28 power. This will give you max power bars in your primary weapon and I'd go with an EMP weapon for your secondary weapon either for Piracy boarding or because you'll never know when the game will require you to take them alive.

Wait? Wights are a C-class? I had a random encounter between my current heavy-hitting A-class, the Lunar Whale (Which is essentially a very heavily modified Ecliptic Stiletto that I "tactically acquired") & a fleet of Crimson pirate ships in orbit around Eridani III. Said fleet consisted of a Wight, a Haunt & 2 Ghosts... I saved the Wight for last, wanting to disable & capture it (although this latest bit of info shows that would have been a waste of time, since I could only pilot Class A ships at the time of the battle), but due to slight panic/massive amounts of adrenaline, I kinda went ham with the missile launchers & destroyed it before the engines were disabled...
Still, nice build. I hope that I can upgrade the Whale with that reactor you slapped in that thing, because then it would be virtually unstoppable, lol.
He is using shielded cargo, lower capacity, higher weight. By changing that for non-shielded the ship can have less mass or more cargo. Just avoid going to planets that scan you whit contraband, have a separate ship for that.
All my ships’ weapon systems are PB-30 electron beam + EM weapon. The PB-30 absolutely shreds through enemy ships. 😂
Did not know you could have multiple of the same weapon type. Good to know. I need to make some changes to my ship.
I have 178 damage between 2 sets of Particle weapons, they instantly melt anything shy of boss level ships.
@@Frost640 After making changes I'm now doing 100 damage with two sets of particle beam weapons. Greatly improved over what I had before.
One thing that would be helpful is to know what your character has in terms of skill and level for you to have those components. I can’t seem to find a lot of them in my build.
You could have gone with fewer weapons but better efficiency with the weapons that you had. your second weapon bank was only at half power, and so were your engines. You were cutting off your speed. You had 2 banks of 12 but your reactor only pumps out 26 power total and you need to cover engines, Shields and your EM., Nice design though. Obviously A very capable ship.
I can't judge too hard, myself, since my weapons always get the dregs, but yeah, might as well have ditched that seventh particle gun.
Do you know how the "Crew Capacity" stat from the weapons come into play? As you only have a Crew of 2 without skills and each weapons hat a capacity of 0.5. with 4+3+1 this would bring the needed crew to 4 for my understanding
I modified my star eagle into the Blood Knight. Has 4,000 cargo, 90 mobility and the flow is excellent as you encounter every crafting station in one straight line pass through of the ship. Crew 5 as well with the best weapons you can get in the game. The EM weapons is 98,000 creds and they DESTROY enemy engines in seconds rendering them useless. I made it more compact and it’s black and blood red, wish I could post a pic, it’s sick. Took me about 4 in a half hours to piece everything together to get it exactly right. I destroyed a level 50 ship at level 26 in about 12 seconds. Just took took out there engine and boarded, killed everyone and took there loot and off I was. If you build the star eagle just right, it’s one of the most powerful ships in the game. 960 shield as well with 380 for fuel. 29 reactor but I have the skill that gives you five more.
Also, it’s worth 432,000 creds lol. It’s gone get even better when I get starship design level ranked up the way as it’s ranked up twice.
Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector you get when you join vanguard, if you put them on the star eagal you get when you do the free star rangers faction mission, you get a prity nasty ship. the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector are 11/11 intead of 13/13 but have double the fire rate.
Not to mention they are only 2 power and you can put 6 on your ship.
Highest DPS of any A class weapon.

Go on like that. realy would like it if you would go to class B for your next Test and class C. So we can see how much of a difference it makes to step up in classes.
how about making a ship with portholes? the interior becomes much more interesting, but it is more difficult to place the modules beautifully

I play on very hard for FPS, but for some reason very hard in space combat is so much harder and I usually have to turn down to normal.

the A-C class thing really messes with my head lol A class is usually the best. only in some game beaten my S Class.
As far as having multiple weapon systems, I think that you are wrong with what you said on that subject in your previous video. You have to consider the fact that you can choose to assign how much power you give to every system. Hence, you can choose to assign none for one of the weapon system. That approach give you more flexibility and ability to adapt to the particular situation that you are in.
That's true but if you're an intense ship battle I don't face time to be redirecting power

I'd like to see the smallest ship that can be built with 8 crew with near Max mobility and speed with 1000 to 1500 cargo
How do you fire A and B weapons at the same time ?
Where do you get this ship? I can only find the MK1 variant at the Key. No mention of the Phantom II
The ships randomly spawn in the higher your level the more likely you'll find a higher level ship
Thanks for the tip. Would siding with the CF on that questline scupper your ability to capture and board that ship or does it spawn under the control of other factions? I suppose you could just take the bounty and pay it off elsewhere.@@TotalXclipse
I know you can steal that ship but can you buy it from the crimson fleet? I think I remember seeing it available for sale but not 100%

That's nice but it's not as cool as mine. I use the experimental tokamak 120s for 28 power, and run 4 pb-30's and 3 pb-30 auto at the same time. Think of it this way, if your ship is under 500 mass, you only need 4 power to engines to get max speed, and use 4 power for shields. That gives you 20 power for weapons, and you can run 7 particle beams at once with 2 weapon groups. Needless to say, 7 pb's at once melts everything pretty much instantly - even on very hard. I use the Varuun Hymn as a base because it has some really nice engines. If you get engines rank 4 you can break combat by tapping shift+space you will go stealth and no one can target you. My character is only level 15 and i beat that fight on very hard difficulty without taking hull damage.
Engineering, workshop etc modules are missing for me. What do I need to unlock them?
They are variants of the Habs. The 2x1, for instance, has variants for Workshops and Labs. Just scroll through the variants either when placing the Hab or by editing it.

Where on the map are you building the ship?
I think he said he built it at the Landing Pad With Shipbuilder that you can build at your Outposts. That gives you access to all non-specialty parts in the game. That makes it the best starting point for building a ship. From there you can visit the key ship tech for each brand to check out their unique offerings.
Took FAR too long to have to pause the video and rewind because you take NO time showing the parts you are adding to the ship. You should anticipate people trying to build along with you and take more time to pause on each item to at least show the name. Ship is good enough, but not a great presentation.
Is there a limit on how many ships we can have?
10 plus gifted ships. There is a mod that bypasses this btw 🎉
Lots of videos out now claiming to be "the best" class A, B, C ships. Please put a short description of the ships stats in the video description so we can compare them to other "best ships" videos.
I read out the ship stats in the video and they're also available on screen in the ship editor.

The free ship from the Ranger mission (star eagle) is more powerful than that! All level 4 ”max” class A parts!
What I don´t like about this videos is that people usually make them so fast and don´t show the actual part they are using, it´s hard to follow you making it.
I think that amount of weaponry is not something you can support with your reactor size. 12 power is already max cap of some reactors. Without high starship design i dont think you can go higher than 20.
As you can see in the video the reactor size is fine for the battle just have to balance out your energy according to taste.
A quick note about power allocation to weapons such as the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector. They have a magazine of 30 shots, once depleted they will reload. The reactor power given to the weapon determines the reload speed, not the power of the weapon. Each shot is a fixed power.
It's been proven that more than 7 - 8 pips of power to these types of weapons is wasted as you only get a 1 - 2 % increase in reload speed above 7 pips.
So, save that power for something else.

White Dwarf 3015 Engine has 180 Top Speed in the game so far. Also I see you did not deside to use distance and snipeing them one at a time to capture them all, what a waste of credits.
You can't capture them all, you're only able to capture a ship if all other shops have been destroyed
You can also assign Sam Coe to your crew and thanks to his piloting skills your top speed increases as well. I had engine systems maxed out, so it's an upgrade from 150 max speed to 180, and Sam boosts me up to 220 (top speed with boost is 920).
If that engine does indeed increase top speed, then you can go up to 250 and almost (or even more!) 1km/s with boost.
not even close... you will unlock better A stuff when you level up, specialy the reactor.

Its a home landing pad with the ship guy, build an outpost a build this landing pad, they will have most of the parts but the bigests ones.
New game plus makes ship and outpost building pointless
I think the ship looks great. obviously it performs, I just don't get showing the difficulty setting and then doing a wipe transition and 2 or 3 jump cuts during the fight. Regardless it looks like performs nicely but it just struck me as an odd choice.
The cuts were to speed it up but I promise it was still on very hard difficulty
I put the spheromak DD202 reactor and it puts out 33 power class A
This is an objectively horrible build...
Make one that you can buy, not one that you have to board.
It really doesn't matter if you buy or board them, the parts are still available to be used at the pad
So here are the problems with your video. 1) You don't let anyone know your character level, so parts may be locked. 2) You show you're ship at Akila City to showcase it but don't mention until 3 mins in that you're actually building this at your Outpost. These are HUGE details that need to be addressed, as ship parts you can buy are based on location and level.
Fair enough in regards to the character level. I'm lvl 30ish - but I never bought a ship, as I mentioned I captured it, but I don't feel the second point is an issue as like you mentioned, I addressed it.
