    I know your video is a year old but I wanted to say thanks. I was able to do 4 posts and hang the lights in one day. They look awesome. I was able to skip the 2x4 with bracket step in place of a 12 year old holding the 4x4. That quikrete dries fast! I also recommend anyone finding this video to get the "string light installation kit" . Well worth it for hanging your lights and prevents the sag. And I also got some post cap solar lights. Anyway, thanks again!

    Thank you for the video. I need two of those planters to attach a side of a sail canopy awning fabric cloth screen. I had not used gorilla glue before and one of the 2 x 4 pop off of the planter when I attached the 4 x 4. Because the bottom of the planter I am using had an indented base I just use flat screws to reattached the 2 x 4 to the base. That worked just fine. Again thanks.

    I’ve always used drainage stones, too, until I started watching Garden Answer. She never uses stones, explaining that the soil needs enough depth to form a sponge layer. This blew my mind. • @daddoesvideos
      @daddoesvideos  2 года назад

      Hey there. Thanks for watching! Yes, using the drill at that point is a little tight. Mine barely fit. Just keep in mind that your screws don’t need to be perfectly flush or anything like that. It’s just a way to stabilize the post a bit. You don’t absolutely need the 2x4 on the bottom if you are able to have a friend keep the post steady while you are mixing the concrete. After that, you can then make sure the post is straight by using scrap 2x4s to keep it in place.

    • @daddoesvideos
      @daddoesvideos  3 года назад

      Hi! Thanks for watching. I’m not sure you’d be able to replace since the concrete locks them in. But if you use a sealer (and reapply when needed) on the posts, they should last for quite a while.

    • @daddoesvideos
      @daddoesvideos  3 года назад +1

      Hey thanks! Yes, what you are describing would work. I just wanted some extra stability so that’s why I started with the 2x4s on the bottom. As long as you make sure the 4x4 is level while it sets, you should be good!

      Thanks for watching! I used two bags of fast setting quikrete (in the red package). Use a half gallon of water per bag. My planters are about 22.5” across and 15” high. The concrete came up to about 7.5” in the planters. If you did the same, I feel like the concrete would be too high if you wanted to plant flowers. Maybe you go with one bag or a bag and a half?
