My daughter wonf go to sleep till she's heard RGTFM yell "Kweeyat!" to a fish. I think I'm raising her right. Thanks for keeping your content clean for adults and kiddos RG. Keep feeshin'!!!!! It's goooooood fer yee!!
@Michael Williams try throwing some bait out under a slip bobber. If you keep getting hung up that way, just move your bobber stop shallower til you won't get hung up anymore.
Hey richard, even if your not reading this it doesn't matter if you are but I just want you to know that your one of the best fisherman on RUclips I've ever watched and because of you I caught my pb 3 days after new years. Your channel is the reason why I keep fishing and also keep a positive attitude. Even if your not here in the next twenty years you will always have a place in my heart. Love you richard and never stop fishing!
You have probably forgot more than most of us will ever know about fishing!!! absolutely more knowledge than any person I've ever seen fishing!!! you are simply the best👍💯
Thank you for your catfishing tips. I am a bank fisherman born and raised. My first pole was the latter half of an old cane pole, I was too small to use the whole thing. Your flapper idea is pure genius and I can not wait to try it. I am currently living in the high altitudes of Colorado, but have a trip scheduled here shortly to return home to Georgia, and then on to my birthplace and where my love for fishing started, Tennessee. Thank you for your time and work.
Well you got me ....I subscribed! I grew up on the Ohio....my house was just above the bank growing up....fishing for cat fish has been a life long affair for me...I'm 42 now...I grew up on the Indiana side more or less across the river from Louisville ...I like what your doing and how you do it.
Richard Gene said. I want to catch one that takes 54 hours to reel in. I would LOVE for you hook one like that too. Stay with it and enjoy. Remember folks you can't catch em from the couch.
Mr Gene - your videos are absolutely the best cuz you're engaging, informative, and entertaining all at once. I think your videos are so watchable because it's obvious that you are truly enjoying what you are doing.....and the endings.....I won't dare sign off until I've watched each one. Keep rolling and thanks for the great content.
RGFM I think you got a mention in my podcast recently and also in a video!! Crappie fishmern make good catmen. BTW, I am always shocked by how clean your boat is....you need more slime in it!!! LOL!
I really REALLY appreciate how you do a run down on your tackle and equipment. I understand success depends on technique but having the right tools makes all the difference so a big shout to you Mr Gene for sharing with us!!
Hey Richard thanks so much for always explaining your tackle and set up. It really helps a beginner. I've went from never fishing to catching tons of fish this year just from watching your videos!
I want to thank you for all of your videos Richard they take me back to a place and time when my uncle was alive and we would fish together he would enjoy watching your videos. You remind me of him alot keep up the videos I love every one of them
Hey RG you would be proud of me; I went fishing thee other day with my son Jacob, and the brand new reel he just bought, well we put it on a nice rod. Well anyway, we were trolling for walleyes and I wasn’t paying attention, casually holding my fishing rod looking off in the distance and a fish hit it so hard it jerked right out of my hands. I could see the rod being taken away so I had to do it, I dove right in after that sucker and I caught it and it was a 2 pound drum. So I finally matched your commitment to fishin that afternoon. It’s a good thing it was a lake. But hey what a memory with Jacob and I. Thanks for sharing all your awesome videos!
Hey Richard, love your channel ! I figured out why you keep the first fish at times. My dad told me the same thing. If you let that first fish go, he'll go back and tell the rest and they won't bite. Anyway, thanks for sharing your great tips and videos!
Richard my brother and I are currently fishing in a tournament and used the “flapper” technique. Didn’t believe it would work until we just caught a 30 lb!! Thanks Richard Gene
Yes Sir! One of my Tried And True Mantras "If I Ain't Loosing Tackle I Ain't Fishin'"... With that in mind, I rig a bunch of Leaders: Swivel, Shock Leader (Fluorocarbon usually) and Circle Hook... Rolled up ready to go, before I leave the House. Time Re-Rigging on the Water is Fishing Time Wasted...
I love you saying what gear you use. Because there are times when I see you using a rod or reel that seems it's performing well so I might be interested in getting one. So keep the gear info comeing. We sure appreciate it!
I really like your videos. I've been catting up here in Minnesota for about 5 or 6 years now and I'm always looking at expanding my knowledge on how to catch the Flatheads and big Channels. I always get a good pointer or 10 off your vids. Thanks again and tight lines.

Listen I love this chanel..love fishing...Richard Gene is truly a fishing machine...thank you Richard for the video and for the information...very good info...love to fish...keep up the amazing amazing job...and God bless..
Hey Richard love the videos man. I really enjoy watching your stuff because you will take the time to explain stuff to us not so experienced fellow fishermen . I do have a question for you and you have probably already explained this before but I have not seen it if so. As a fairly new boater I was wondering how you set up your boat in the current so easily. What I mean is do you float beyond your point and let out your anchor and let it just pull your boat into the current, because I noticed how still your boat sits and I usually have a lot of trouble with it wanting to turn side to side or spin. Thank you in advance for any response. Also would love to share a coke and fishing trip with you someday. Happy Fishing Sir.
If you are in a river with current, you need an anchor with a flap on it that will turn approximately 1/4 turn on the main anchor beam. That flap will actually dig into the bottom of the river and help hold your boat. It doesn't need to be very heavy, but the rope you are using needs to be long enough that when dropped into whatever depth you are fishing in it can run no less than 45 degrees from the bow of your boat. You might also tie a different color line on the opposite end of your anchor so that you are able to retrieve it backwards if the flap should get hung under something. If you are in calm water with no current, drop your front anchor and back to boat up until the anchor sets, at this time you will need a rear anchor to drop strait down into the water behind you and when it hits bottom, just tighten the rope up and tie it off. The rear anchor just needs to be heavy. Something as simple as a block will work. Also, when anchoring ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, tie your anchor line in the exact middle of the front of your boat. Tied On the sides, the tension of the rope will try to force your boat to turn away from your anchor. Pro safety tip: NEVER EVER for any reason DO NOT anchor the rear of your boat up river. Any river in the country with any current at all will eat your boat and sink you fast if your anchor sets in good with the current turning the rear of your vessel into a bulldozer blade.
