Flew from Vancouver to Amsterdam in 1979 with Ward Air and it was an amazing flight. Every seat was first class. The meals were amazing, dinner was Filet Mignon. Free unlimited drinks. At 15 years old I got plastered on Green Creme De Menthe. Best flight I ever took.
I used to look out for their 747 landing at Leeds/Bradford on Mondays when i was at primary school, it was a treat visit for such a regional airport. Never been a 747 service since 33 years! I always wanted to fly on it but never managed to
Interesting! I was one of the first flight attendants in the Vancouver base and one of the first to work on C-FUN and C-Fax the 2 brand new 747's. I flew with Wardair for 5 years, how hard we worked in those days!! Sadly I left to return to my native home and family in the UK and have lost touch with all my collegues. Fantastic time of my life!!
Interesting story Carol. Sometimes we have to make those choises in life that we think are best at that particular time. I never worked for Wardair, but was fortunate enough to be able to obtain this video from their PR department. Cheers; Herman in Victoria, BC. YYJ
Air Canada killed Wardair with it's government funding. Wardair was how an airline should run. I met Max in Toronto while working on the A-310s. Nice guy.
I worked at Ward Air when I was in high school - short order cook, dishwasher, in the cafeteria, minimum wage, pay. Alice was my boss then they fired her when Alice got into a car accident. New Boss who took over, mean person. But there were many lovely people at Ward Air and it was a good environment.

Nobody will ever have the fun you had. lmao great story. Was it a smoking flight?
Max Ward was a truly incredible man - he was fearless and indefatigable.

I heard wonderful things about Wardair, from both passengers and staff.
One of the most enjoyable flights I ever had, flew from Ottawa to Calgary in 1986. Even enjoyed the food!

Carol... I so remember you and loved flying with you. Nice to see you here, even though your comments were 2 years ago... Jan
Did you ever fly into Leeds/Bradford
Everytime I turn right into Cattle Class, I whine that I want my Wardair back...

Fantastic story on Max Ward! Saw the name on a Canadian Intl 744 I shot in YVR and now I know the whole story behind the man! Very cool.
The two 707's were FAN and ZYP. The first two 747's were DJC and FUN.
FUN was also the registration of the first 727.
