    I got fired from Home Depot office in Atlanta Ga and after I was told that I was no longer an employee I turned in all keys and credit cards and after a brief silence, I said well there's nothing left to do but leave. I got up and was going toward the exits. The HR head told me not to leave even though I was nearly at the door. It turns out that they wanted another employee to escort me to my car. I did wait and got the escort. I believe that the man doing the escorting should have been present at the termination instead of my having to sit there until he got there. I personally did not argue, raise my voice and I did everything in my power to get out of there without incident.

      We are sorry to hear about your termination. You are correct, some companies have a process in place where an escort needs to go with the terminated employee until they have exited the building. Most companies do this as a safety precaution, but we can understand where you're coming from, in terms of having them present or explaining the process to you ahead of time. It sounds like you did a good job at being as compliant as possible and not making any kind of scene. Given the high degree of emotions that can occur in these kinds of situations, we give you a lot of credit. Best wishes to you.

      If you fire an employee who made threats and/or became violent in the work place the last thing you want to do is fire them before they cool off. Insane people, depending on what they say need to be dealt with otherwise they can totally ruin the business and/or 1 or more lives from the business. People on top need to be wise and realize if the employee has no where to go after and doesn't care about "life" like most people, someone is going to get shot or something equivalent.
