Great install but I need to ask a question. What if I want to park my jeep in the garage like I currently do now? A 48" antenna is going to interfere with my garage door and probably snap off the first time I park the jeep. Is there a CB antenna that won't protrude above the jeep roof line?
Where my antenna is mounted and it being 48in, it would not go in the garage. People run 36in antennas and they mount them lower on the Jeep. I’ve seen many Jeeps where the antenna is barely above the roof line of the Jeep. Thanks for watching
You have a washer underneath the bracket on top of that K4A stud. That normally doesn't belong there. Having said that we have learned a long time ago not to argue with what works. I am assuming that it is an internal Star washer.
Yeah that washer was compensating for the too large of a hole in the bracket. I’ve since replaced that bracket with an aluminum bracket that’s specific to the antenna mount. Thanks for watching
In the engine bay drive side of the firewall upper corner is a rubber plug. Remove the plug and run you a chase wire through there and into the driver side cab area.

Thanks so much for the instal vid. I mounted my Cobra 29 cb exactly the way you installed yours and mounted exactly where yours is. I have a question, when I'm driving and the cb is on its great picks up signal with no problem. But when I key the mic to speak my dash lights goes haywire and the wipers go back and forth. Any idea what is causing this? Any help bro would be appreciated.
@@Georgia4Low yes my power is straight off the battery. Should I not run the black wire to the battery (negative terminal) and just ground it to the body? I'm thinking my cb or antenna doesn't have a strong ground.
@@Georgia4Low I'll try grounding the cb directly to a grounding on rhe jeep instead of straight to the battery. Ill double check my antenna ground. Sure hoping I can get this fixed. Thanks for getting back to me bro
Hello: By adding Spring to antenna you added length to Antenna... Spring may need to be removed to tune SWR on tunable tip. I am going to get Stainless Steel flat mount and mount it left side under hood. There is a bolt already there in finder. I would Like to see a video on those bright Red Grab Handles....I will Google those ....
The red crab handles are from Rough Country and I love them. I tuned the antenna with the spring in place and got my SWR below 1.5 I like the front fender side mounts just not for my 48in model. The fender area is probably a better location for performance of the antenna. Thanks
On a jeep the location of the antenna can pretty much be a personal preference. Do you park the Jeep in a garage, carport, parking garage? These questions affect how tall of an antenna you may want to get. Tune an antenna with the spring on is the proper procedure if you want a spring under your antenna. Keeping in mind that the tire carrier it's going to interfere with the antenna springing backwards very far.

Interfering with the CB radio or is the radio interfering with something in the house? If you ran a workman B 100 with 27 feet of Rg 8 coax your radio should broadcast well and not bleed into household Products. If you are in a Location that is prone to lightning be sure to get a Lightning arrestor set up. If something in the house is interfering with the radio try unplugging different electronics one at a time. Get someone to listen as you unplug different items. Is the interference Constant or does it come and go? That may help you to find out what's going on.
Hello: I started to say that is junk Coax. Then I was going to ask if he cleaned off Black Coating on bottom of antenna bracket in order to get a Ground on stud. Then I spotted the washer on bottom, if it slides over and touches center stud you shall have a Dead Short and burn out the finals in radio. That washer goes on top of White Insulator. I watched this video before but did not catch that washer on bottom of mount. I decided to mount a Uniden PC122 above rearview mirror with a 350 Red Devil under drivers seat.
That washer was only used to make up for the hole size in the bracket. Only the lower portion of the antenna mount is grounded, top side has no continuity to ground.
@@Georgia4Low I know all that, I open a Full Service C B Shop in 1979 for Tuckers..The Hole should be correct for supplied K4A stud mount. The bottom side needs black coating cleaned off where stud sets to get proper ground.
Most stock CB radios pull about 2 Amps. You could have an affect on the lights if they are on at night and you try talking on a system that has not been tuned.

Depends on where you want to install the antenna. Upfront you may be able to use it a 3 foot fiberglass or wire whip. I’m thinking JBC 3600
I got a quick disconnect just push down and twist my antana pops on and off 4' Firestick you just need to not forget

@@chriscoston8601 I ran a positive and ground wire (8 or 10 gauge) straight from the battery. The CB wire harness has the fuse link.

Make sure you run a separate power and ground for your CB. Do not tap into other power or ground leads.

I have a question is it safe to wire it to the battery and power a light bar from the battery at the same time?
You can just make sure each system has its own fuse plus you may want to Up size the power and ground leads, maybe 10 gauge wire for power and ground.
