    Another question, are you required to replace the factory bolts (~5:37) with the longer bolts and add fender washers and nylock nuts? I notice the holes that the bolts go into are threaded already.

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  3 года назад +5

      No you don’t have to , I just did this to add additional support so that my cb antenna doesn’t fatigue the welded nuts loose on the tub. And be careful those threads are particular For the tail light! Also inside the taillight there is a wide ground plate that adds for more support of the tail light you can see the ground wire for the light is attached to it! What I did to give the antenna mount a better ground plane is drilled a hole with a 7/32 drill bit through that plate and into the mount then tapped the hole with a 1/4 -20 tap and threaded a short 3/8th 1/4-20 bolt with a lock washer to attach the lights ground plate to the antenna mount! Now the light gives more ground to the antenna mount! I wish I shown this in the video but I later did that for additional grounding! The bolt idea is good 👍🏼 thanks for watching

    Where did you get that cb antenna bracket? Im doing my first install. I learned a lot from your video. I have one comment about the rubber band...its was a McGiver. In time they will dry rot and then you have an issue. You can get a bunch of different choices to select a washer at home depot. Just drill out the whole for a custom fit.

      @ATEMOFFROAD  Год назад

      The bracket I purchased was on Amazon this is the only one I could find right now. amzn.to/3KK2qA4 The rubber band was just to help centering and keep the positive side conductor from touching the grounded mount as you tighten it down. If the conical washers is working properly you won’t need the rubber band. I just added for “additiona” protection. Still works great too . Welcome to the channel thanks for watching. 🍻

    Quick question, the rubber grommet that the cable runs through (~9:03) did you have to cut the center of that to make the hole big enough for the cable to pass through?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  3 года назад +1

      I don’t recall if I did but I have trimmed other rubber grommet in the jeep to pass through other cables! Thanks for watching

      I just cut mine with snips to route the wire through. Once you insert the grommet back into the tub it fits super tight still. You can always rtv but I don’t think it’s necessary!

    With just the one screw I don’t know how you got the mount bracket to be tight. Debating drilling another hole for the other side or using gorilla tape. I still want it in the same position yours is mounted.

      I really liked it there , but since I have moved it! It was a solid spot for it, as I did drill another hole !

    Cool videos. If I want to connect directly to the battery but the red wire isn't long enough, how would I do that? Can I crimp any color wire to extend it to the battery?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  4 года назад +2

      namunyoska2 💥 I used a fuse tap and split the amps for my radio and the cb at the fuse block and it works excellent .and yes you can do that just make sure it’s the same gauge wire,

      hi there, the brand who made that one is by TORE
      they are currently unavailable on amazon
      Also: for better grounding to chassis, what i did was drill a hole right through the taillight ground plate and into the antenna plate. Then thread tapped 1) 1/4-20 bolt by 1/2in . doing this made for superior grounding..

    • @theredbutton1
      @theredbutton1 4 года назад +1

      I searched for that and all i get is the passenger side one. Yours is on the driver side and the top is different.
