No Ground Plane Firestick. I put it together the way the directions said. Works great at 100 feet. After that nothing, The SWR is 2.1 on Channel 1 and 3.1 on channel 40. Mounting this on a motorcycle.

With NGP systems it's important that the coax cable is spread out a bit around the vehicle/bike as the coax and the antenna make up the ground plane. If the coax is tightly stored in a saddle bag, try running it around the bike (to the best of your ability) and then tune the system. Also, do not shorten the NGP coax cable.

It might be a good idea to use a voltmeter in continuity mode to check your coax for shorts before plugging it into your radio. I always preferred the firestik side mount since it just look clean and it hides the connections from the elements.
