About the Game:
Lies of P is an action role-playing video game developed by Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio, and published by Neowiz Games.
Inspired by Carlo Collodi's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, Lies of P tells the story Pinocchio, a robotic "puppet". However, unlike other puppets, Pinocchio has the capability to lie, which will play a role during important story decisions.
Puppets were invented in the city of Krat thanks to the discovery of a revolutionary power source, Ergo, underneath the city. Puppets soon became ubiquitous throughout the city, performing most of the menial labor for the populace. Foremost among the puppet inventors is the legendary Geppetto, who created Pinocchio. In order to ensure that Puppets would not be a threat, all puppets were bound to the Grand Covenant, which forbids puppets from lying or attacking humans. However, despite this, one day the puppets revolt, slaughtering most of the human population of Krat.
In addition to the puppets, Krat also suffers from the mysterious Petrification Disease which blinds its victims before fully petrifying and destorying them. There currently is no known cure to the disease.

Normally, I get really pissed when the bosses beat me in a game. However, in this game, I am just continually in awe of it. I can’t be angry long.

The ending with "Dorothy" is a reference to the Wizard of Oz (Dorothy's the main protagonist), so it's likely they're setting up a sequel in the world of Oz ;)

I REALLY wish they wouldn't have mentioned the name Dorothy and just left us with the red slippers clicking. Otherwise, I am beyond hyped to see a DLC and sequel.

with how Sekiro, most of Elden Ring, even AC6, and now this game actually putting a story front and center, i really really hope it becomes a staple of the “souls-like”/“souls-borne” genre
having a present and compelling story with a killer cast of real characters makes these games worth it on so many more levels; i love the deep lore and mystery but fuck me, the storytelling being fleshed out is too good

I’d not know why this happens but your headspace has such a HUGE effect on how you do against bosses, it’s a constant in gaming. If one heads into a fight with a ‘you ain’t shit’ mentality, at least for me even if that boss is the a hardest in the game I’ll beat it with little to no issues, however on the other hand if the boss is regarded as the easiest but I’m feeling scared or nervous for whatever reason, it could be because of it being in a scary area or I just got through a particularly annoying level, I’ll get completely and utterly destroyed. All of this gets compounded in this game due to the agency it gives you during combat.

I was looking for a playthrough of this game specifically to watch, and now I'm a subscriber. I love when the person playing it is enjoying it as much as I am, you took your time and didn't rush through much, which I really appreciated. Going to watch more Mati for sure :)
Thanks, I admired your persistence and kept going. Took me 90 something deaths but killed the nameless puppet with the acidic spear and fully upgraded aegis shield. Am 76 and not as quick as I used to be but watching your battle with it was inspiring and greatly appreciated

This is such an amazing game. I love it more than a lot of fromsofts stuff.
This game is phenomenal, but imo its not quite on the caliber of bloodborne or ds1, but i do think if they have a sequel than such quality is definitely possible, i just found the gale too linear, where as ds1 and other souls games have far more room for exploration, but of course this is just my opinion.

Long live P. Finished my 3rd Playthrough today. Best ending, very satisfying. I loved the characters a lot, definitely a highlight. I struggled a lot with perfect guard, but the game gives you enough options to overcome a challenge. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

also it took me 3 playthrough and following a guide to the letter to get the golden lie and you got it by accident on your first playthrough 🤣 It helped you listened to the records at the hotel as well. Need to see "Your heart is pounding" 3 times in order to get it. Well done!

Such an amazing game. Honestly I'm glad to have you struggle so much with the Nameless Puppet 😅 I also used the kanata and it had to have taken me around a hundred tries. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Definitely in the top 3 hardest bosses I've ever fought. Congrats on getting through without summons! I definitely used some in my play through, this game is hard as hell, haha.

Hi, Mati! Glad to see you finish this amazing game... for me particularly, the Nameless Puppet was the hardest boss. I took something like 5 hours with him and yeah it was so satisfying to end him. I believe Nameless is what Geppetto wanted Carlo to be. He wanted to control him and that he was a "good boy" to him. As he says to P, Carlo was a troublemaker and P is just like him. To me, P is what Carlo really is, beyond his father's control. A real person on his own, not a puppet. There is also the stargazer being a white lilly, a symbol of purity and rebirth. In my opinion, P killed his past self (the one we know as Carlo) and established himself as his own person, beyond his father's cage.

It would be cool to see you reacting to lore, story analysis, and secrets videos. The game is surprisingly deep with all the references to historical alchemy and other fairy tales. Plus a lot more story details.
I was disappointed by the Manus fight; it was the only major boss battle I didn't enjoy. But the Nameless Puppet made up for it many times over. That score is incredible, the design is creepy, the fight itself is a freaking blast. I had more trouble with Laxasia, but it was still an uphill battle.
This game is a treasure. My GOTY for sure.

nameless puppet was so good. he took me like a solid hour or 2. i used the perfection grindstone tho. don't know if that is considered "cheating" i also laughed when i went to the stargaizer and i saw you could give up your heart from there if you regretted not doing it earlier
If that’s the grindstone that enables perfect guard there are many handles with fable arts that do the same or similar, I would consider it cheating because no matter how powerful it’s still a limited resource per battle and a mechanic they chose to put in game.
@@jeremyrm7 the fable art that do the same are very limited tho. more timing based. where the perfection grindstone is like 20-30 seconds where you can just hold down block for perfect guards
@@Ramhams1337 I’d disagree only because you can get fable arts back as you continue to fight and arts like Endure can last a good 2-3 seconds which is perfect for any perilous attack though you still take small damage
@@jeremyrm7 sure i can get it back but it still only blocks like one attack. With the right p-organ upgrades i have 2 grindstone uses that last basically the whole match. Or in the case of nameless puppet. The whole last phase. But you could also pair them and have both
Wait grindstones are “cheating?” Lol this why I can’t stand the DS community sometimes. They are the most elitist mf in gaming. I beat DS1 100 times, but I share one clip of me dying that’s meant to be funny, and it’s “running around with _that_ weapon? Might as well put it on easy mode.” Every weapon is easy mode when I don’t die. Lol I don’t have to prove shit to those types. I forget I have a grindstone half the time because I’ve been running an advanced build so you can’t use the elemental grindstones on elemental weapons. So I either use perfect grindstone or critical hit grindstone. I’m also in new game +4 with a maxed out P-Organ. This game has been on easy mode since I started my new game cycle. Lol am I cheating? 😂 is using the P-Organ cheating? Legion arm? Wishcube for a bitch amount of health recovery? Are swapping weapon blades and handles cheating? Please tell me I’m reading something wrong here. Lol
Happy Halloween bro. Yeah i havent felt that satisfied beating a boss (nameless puppet) since beating Laurence the first vicar. To say i was weak after finally claiming victory over the nameless puppet would be an understatement.
So weird, I feel sad knowing this game ends with this boss. I did not expect much, such a wonderful gaming experience.

I think it's insane that this Fromsoft inspired game, made by a studio with only one other game to its name, based on Pinocchio, came out and decided to be a masterpiece.

This is gonna be a super long text, though I have a lot to say.
I know I'm super late, but I recently discovered Lies Of P, and it blew my mind in so many levels, the storytelling, the characters, the music, the records, the design overall was fan-tas-tic, as a souls and soulslike fan I have to say, Lies of P became by far my personal favorite.
After finishing the game I had no one to talk about this Masterpiece, I desperately had to see other people reaction so i watched a bunch playtroughs, only to get frustrated watching streamers skip dialogue, reading nothing, ignoring records and quests, playing only for the views and donations, imo, such a sad and soulless way to play...then I found you MATI.
This is the first series I watch in your channel, and it was such a great experience! it felt like I played the game all over again, I could tell you really enjoyed it, you care about the story, pay attention to details, design and environment, I loved every of your reactions to Polendina, Antonia, Venigni, Eugenie and specially Sophia.

@@equinox3625 yes! I really enjoyed A Plague Tale Innocence and A Plague Tale Requiem, those games are way different from souls, though storywise are true masterpieces, specially Requiem, beautiful design, amazing score and incredible story!

I found you through this game. It’s my first souls/soulslike game and I’m hooked. I completed it the other day and was so proud of myself. You got the same ending I did. I’m on NG+ now and it is TOUGH. Like 50% more health and damage from enemies tough. But I need to get platinum. Consider me a new subscriber to you. :)
yesssss loved the ending! you made it! i loved this game enough to play ng+ and want to platinum it, so i'm still on the way to do that. also, if you like, check gepetto's desk before you start ng+ or put the game down for good. i actually felt bad for him at the end, somehow, because after all that he did he was still trying to bring his son back and didn't see the son he had right in front of him until he was dying. i just loved this game and i'm glad you had a good experience with it as well.

It took me weeks to beat the nameless puppet. I did have a daughter born in the middle of it. But I finally beat him yesterday. I watched you beat him the day this came out, but I did not want to see what happens next until I could beat him myself. This was one of my favorite games of all time. It was awesome playing along side you. I would finish an area then watch how you did it. I never looked ahead. Great stream, great channel. So glad you played this. took me around 4 hours. I did 1 hour one evening, 2 hrs next evening, and 1 hr another evening then finally got him. shock stick on the acid spear handle + aegis + perfect guard grindstone and a few throwables for that sweaty moment when he's a few hits from death but I have no heals left. felt so good to get him. well done bro!

I’ve finally beat the game myself last night and have come to experience this ending with Mati!! ⭐️⭐️!! The devs really did a fantastic job on this game!!
So epic! Well done sir! This game might've been my favorite of the year. And my year included DS Remastered and Tears of the Kingdom. I loved fighting the hardest bosses in this game. The perfect guard is incredibly satisfying to nail. My strategy was so different, but it maximized damage through special amulets and strategically placed charged R2s. I was doing around 1200 damage with a charged R2 with my damn wrench/glaive combo. So Nameless and Manus took 5 tries each in my first playthrough. I so wish they add a boss rematch mode. Nameless and Lax were a blast. Looking forward to your Demon Souls series!

Tbh i struggled way more with most of the bosses than you. But i made it and played through NG++ now and its just so much fun with the latest boss weapons. Hope you try them out some time.

It's kind of hilarious to hear you talk about your rage during the nameless puppet fight, I don"t think I took quite as many tries as you did, but I certainly raged _quite_ a bit more. Some of the attacks still feel like cheap bullshit to me, the tracking trail of fire on the ground, for example, I never figured out a way to dodge or block that.
I may come around on summons, though, I ended up using summons to finally be done with Nameless King (it just now occurs to me that nameless puppet is of course a reference to that), and it certainly feels less satisfying that being forced to do it by yourself, however painful. Maybe there needs to be a checkpoint mechanism in these games, where if you beat the first phase three times in a row, your allowed to skip it, or something, it just becomes such a waste of time after a certain point. I want to practice the second phase, not repeatedly excel at the first.

Not sure how much of this you've pieced together, but here's the deal with Carlo. (SPOILERS) Carlo is Geppetto's dead son. His memories and lifespan are stored in "P's" heart. His dead body was used to create the Nameless Puppet. That puppet was unstable and unable to collect and utilize enough ergo to resurrect Carlo. This is why "P" was created: to collect the ergo necessary to resurrect Carlo by rejoining his body and soul. Geppetto always wanted to transplant Carlo's soul (with all the ergo amassed by P) into Carlo's real body, the Nameless Puppet. What he didn't know, until his final moments in the Rise of P ending, is that "P" had truly become "a real boy" through his experiences (and through the power of the ergo he collected), and so he had his son back all this time, only he was too blind to see it.
Adding that "P" is also a puppet that appears to be made from living tissue. This is why he looks more realistic than other puppets and people even mistake him for a human, and it's also why he begins to physically change as he lies and exhibits human emotions. It's implied, I think, that the body used to create "P" is actually the corpse of Romeo.

Good gameplay im working my way through lies of p and loving it but when i get to where you are ill probably break my controller lol
For anyone still struggling with this, who doesn’t care about doing a straight swordfight, it’ll make your life way easier in nameless’s 2nd phase if you equip aegis (max level is best obv) and vengini’s grinder that temp makes all your guards perfect guards. Spending the Quartz to use special grinders more than once helps. Defending with aegis will knock a chunk of hp off the top, & the grinder means you don’t have to time the swooping red slashes he likes to unload at the start. I found using the grinder first until he finishes his temper tantrum then guarding when he was up close and then using aegis with the red slashing worked really well for me.
The trident is also an excellent weapon for this as long as you don’t get greedy. It’s critical hits do a lot more to wear his hp down than chipping away with an average weapon. Fully upgraded its legit a beast. Only weapon I had with higher damage output is the sawbone cutter but it’s light strikes are faster.

good job! - i did probably 50+ attempts then gave my heart and went into NG+ to level up, etc. Used Aegis and +5 Trident (block and poke) and finally got him.. I'm just hopeless at parry.

Congrats on getting through the game! 2 things-
1- Please make sure you play the Bluepoint remaster of Demon's Souls - the original is all but unplayable in 2023 lol. You can't even diagonally roll.
2- After Demon's Souls, I'd LOVE to see you play through Lords of the Fallen, has been an absolutely incredible experience for me, I'm 35 hours in and don't want it to stop.

I got all the way to the Nameless Puppet and gave up. I enjoyed the game but that is ridiculous. I was waiting for you to get there so I could see the ending! Congrats : )
