Excellent video! Thanks! This helps me to learn about chenille work. Like how you explained about the bottom layer in solid vs. print.

Love the panel idea, I would have never thought to do that :D

I used this on two small blankets using panels. I found the unit kept turning and the blade kept closing. There was also a build up of lint from the fabric that kept the blade from cutting easily. I used painters tape to keep the blade from closing and had no problem after that. Definitely a lot easier than cutting the channels with just scissors!

Hi Susanne! If your panels were made of flannel unfortunately that does happen (the build up of the lint). If each of your rows were quite long, just make sure to wipe the lint off the blade/blow on it, before you start your next row! I know it can be a bit annoying. Thanks so much for your comment! :)

I want to try this! Did you put any padding layer or is it all just fabric? I am trying with a bowl cozy patter, but it is too think, :-(

Hello :) Yes, there is batting inside as well. This video is about six years old, but if I remember correctly I used a heat-resistant batting AND a regular cotton batting. I would layer it as, backing material on the table first, cotton batting on top of that, then heat-resistant batting (shiny side UP), your "base" fabric, 3 layers of the panel. Lots of layers. But works so nicely for trivets!
