I really, really, really love how you explain your notion selections - I would never have thought of getting the flower head pins without your comments (I have a huge box of dressmakers pins)!
Ok I just got my three panels and everything i need was just getting ready to start and in comes the hubby so much for that I had to do prep work for the big game tomorrow so I will start this tomorrow and finish on Monday I am so excited !
Haha. Oh we know that struggle too well! Get all ready and someone in your life needs something. Oh well, at least you're all prepared and ready to get sewing! Let us know how your project goes! We're excited to hear all about it. - Morgan
I made one with regular batting, because that’s what I had on hand... BUT I would highly recommend the fusible batting. I had trouble keeping the back from getting tucks, and had to rip out lines a few times because of this. Fusible batting is definitely the way to go!
For the best results we do suggest following the steps laid out for this project! We have not done it any other way so could not guarantee the outcome if you did do the binding before closing the bag! Merry Christmas! 🎄~Leah
I am currently listening while I work so only paying a little bit of attention...or so I thought. I got intrigued when you started talking about the cutter. I have clover one that I use but this one is very interesting. I may need to invest in a new tool that I don't actually need...lol
Lol. You'll love the tool, and you need it to make these rugs, which you'll want to do over and over again! ;) We love anything by Olfa. They make such great products. - Morgan
I see panels a lot but never know what to do with them besides add a border. next time I see something cute, I might try this. Thx for being such an inspiration!
I think this is very interesting. I always am happy to hear ideas for using the panels. I wish you would have shown a close look at what it looked like after you ran the cutter up, but still great video.
Thanks for that feedback! In this video at about 14:25 you'll be able to see an up-close look at what it looks like after running the cutter: ruclips.net/video/AIgm3sdGlwE/видео.html Let us know if that helps! - Morgan
+Shabby Fabrics I would like to see a closer look as well. However, you said to go to 14:25 but your video only goes to 13:55. It is such a cute project.
The video I'm referencing for the 14:25 time stamp is actually a different video on the same technique that we filmed earlier. :) That one gives a little bit of a closer look. Click this link to view it: ruclips.net/video/AIgm3sdGlwE/видео.html Let me know if that helps! - Morgan
I love this but have a question. Is this thick enough to be actually used as a rug or is it more just for decorative use? I love the fabrics and that we have another technique to use our fabrics with!
That's a great question! We probably wouldn't put this in a high-traffic area, but it can certainly be used and stood on, and of course is always great as a decorative addition to your home. - Morgan
This is absolutely fun looking 👍 does this cutter go through all layers? Or do I cute though only couple layers? I’m going to order supplies for this and try it.
It's so much fun, you'll have a blast! The cutter is going to go through the first 2 panel layers. You'll keep the bottom panel in tact, which is why we have you leave it a little bit bigger than the others so you don't accidentally cut through it. Let us know how your project goes and if you have any other questions! - Morgan

It can be easy to miss, but at about 12:25 Jen mentions this. You'll leave the bottom-most panel larger than the others, and in tact, and you'll cut through the top 2 panels. Hope that clears things up for you! :) Let me know if you have other questions. - Morgan
In this instance, you'll cut through 2 layers. You'll leave the bottom-most panel in tact. You want to cut through multiple layers of panel so you have more of the fluffy chenille effect. Does that make sense? - Morgan
We used 4 in the first video, and wanted to see if it would work with 3, so tried it with 3 in this one. They both work beautifully! Using less panels is, of course, going to bring the cost of the project down. Woohoo! Thank you for watching! - Morgan

Great video as always, I wish I could do this. Brilliant ❤
Thanks so much for watching! You totally can do this! :) Let us know if you decide to try! - Morgan
Do you iron the fusible fleece to the backing or do you iron it to the bottom panel? It didn't look like it was fused to anything in the video.
For the best results we do suggest following the steps laid out for this project! We have not done it any other way so could not guarantee the outcome if you did do the binding before closing the bag! Merry Christmas! 🎄~Leah
Do you suggest stitching with cotton or poly thread?
Hi Susan! We used a 50 wt cotton thread for this project! -Lindsey

Thank you so much for watching! So glad you like it. We're using a standard stitch length here, which on our Bernina is a 2.5. - Morgan

Thank you for emailing me. I turned on closed captioning and was able to read what the bottom layer is.

Do you still carry the Farmyard panels ?
Unfortunately, we sold out of those panels and can't find more. Here are the panels we have currently, though: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Quilt-Panel-Fabric.aspx

Do you think the stars and stripes panel would work for this project?
Did you cut thru the top 2 layers, or just the top layer? I don’t think this was addressed.
It can be easy to miss, but at about 12:25 Jen mentions this. You'll leave the bottom-most panel larger than the others, and in tact, and you'll cut through the top 2 panels. Hope that clears things up for you! :) Let me know if you have other questions.

I can not wait to start one. Something different then quilting.
Yes! It's such a fun project, and it is nice to do a different project every now and then. ;) Let us know how yours goes! - Morgan
Can you draw the lines on your top panel BEFORE pinning?
Yes, you can! - Morgan
What is the name and brand of the fabric used in the rug?
This is from Homestead by Wilmington Prints. - Morgan
so you only use the cutter on the top layer of the panel?
In this instance, you'll cut through 2 layers. You'll leave the bottom-most panel in tact. You want to cut through multiple layers of panel so you have more of the fluffy chenille effect. Does that make sense? - Morgan
I can’t seem to find your panels for this project.

@@ShabbyFabrics I still can’t find it! Could you be out of this particular panel of the farmhouse rug?
In previous video I believe you used 4 panels. Reason?

Could you spell out what the backing/ bottom layer is? Thank you.
Hi Dee! Are you looking for what we used, specifically, or why we used it? - Morgan
I'm curious to know what you used for the backing. Is it nonslip?
Couldn’t you mark the diagonal line before pinning the layers together? Otherwise I love this tutorial!!
You certainly could if that works better for you! :) Thank you so much for watching! - Morgan
