My grandmum made her own chenille all the time. Her bedspreads & robes were in high demand. She cut narrow strips of a cheap loosely woven cotton in whichever color she needed and did exactly what it being done here.. except she had the most amazing treadle sewing machine I lovingly inherited. Any loosely woven cotton works just fine. The more it frays the better. When you've finished sewing the chenille strips on brush it with a hair brush to fray the fibers. Also, use a small stitch length to lock in the fibers. Very important but you have to do the same with this.
Thanks so much for the great instructions for applying Chenille It! I'm getting ready to do a panel quilt with words on it, so this is a perfect video! Thank you, thank you! 😀
Your tutorials are so very informative. Not only do you demonstrate the "how-to", you also explain the "why" for your methods. What more could we ask for! Keep it up😁👌
+ Luv Pugz! - It's what makes her YT videos top notch. I always like to know the the "why" of how to do something as it makes the light bulb come on in my brain with an LED kind of bulb instructions.
Laura I just gotta say this brings back so many wonderful memories of my grandmothers chenille bedspread. Look, out I’m gonna be chennilling everything lol
I have always admired your tutorials, this one is easily my favorite. Just a little note to say.....Your personality makes me want to quilt all day. Thank you for all the time you take to make my quilting experience the highlight of my life.
Thank you thank you thank you, you make your tutorials so easy to understand! I'm getting ready to make my first baby quilt with chenille for our fourth child! I can't wait to see how it turns out!
this is a great tutorial for this product I had seen chenille it in the stores for many years but never knew how darling it shows up. this product will make some sweet enhancement on charity quilts as well as decorate a few I already have that need a bit of fluff. TY I am putting this on my must buy list.
I have seen this product at quilt shows. I am now going to purchase some and use it. I think it would look nice on a baby quilt. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. I truly appreciate it.
Thank you. I love the chenille and the pink and black quilt. I made 2 pink quilts using pink Chenille for my grand nieces and they came out adorable. Thanks again great tutorials Annie B
I made a quilt for my newborn grandson. I thought that I would not need a binding if I used Chenille-It, as she says in the video. I was not happy with what looked like an unfinished edge. I bound the edges, over chenille and all, and I was much happier with the finished product. Just my opinion. It's a great product.
Love Chenille, never knew about this, , I' have an old Chenille bath Robe has pink roses on sleeves & all around the collar, want to add more on the back..Thanks for the Video..
Wow that is fabulous, I never knew about this chenille, and the out come after a wash is so nice. What a lovely tape that is , I wonder if I can get it here or order it I think would be nice. Lovely idea. I must get this , tks for showing about this kind of tape, so glad I got to see your videos , have learned so much. ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹
Thank you! I first heard of Chenille It today but I couldn’t find much info on the company’s website. They should link to your video! I do wonder if bias tape would work, and which would be cheaper.
it seems you could also easily make some by cutting strips on the bias... in your opinion is it worth it to buy this or would cutting and using your own work just as well? also if you were to use scrap strings (cut on the bias), would you anchor each piece at the beginning and end?
Wow! That's a fantastic idea.... I wonder if the Chenille -It is available in Australia, I will have to do some research! Thank you for yet again a great idea!
I love this and the video you did with the panels. I was wondering if the ‘chenille it’ is softer than a quilters cotton? I know this can be done with bias strips but wonder if this product makes it softer? I certainly know it’s a lot more convenient.
After I watched this video the other day I ordered 12 different colors. 😉. Question for you though...I ordered the 5/8” size and didn’t realize it comes in 3/8” size. I watched a video on the chenille it RUclips channel and saw they were using the 5/8” size mainly for binding. Do you think I could take my 5/8 and cut it into 3/8 without affecting the integrity of the product?
Hey :D Thanks so much for sharing all that you do! I have learned to quilt 100% because of wonderful people as yourself, whom choose to share your knowledge! 🌱 Which blue did you use for this one? The pale blue or bahama blue? On my screen it looks like the Bahama but you know how shades change per screen ;P Again thanks a billion! Jes 🌱
Can I sew the chenille onto my quilt top and then quilt right over the chenille before washing? Will quilting over the chenille strips affect the "fluffing"?
