Its beatiful how you linked the phisical systems governing to the collective consciousness which ultimately creates. Keep on, we will share!

Most of the videos on this channel are very enlightening and based on reason and overwhelming empirical evidence (most of which is hidden or ignored by people). But whenever something comes up about consciousness, you seem to devolve into a Chopra-esque flurry of mysticism and woo. It is true that we don't yet understand the fundamental property of animals that allows them to make decisions (i.e. how the "puppeteer" commands the "strings"), but that does not in any way validate the notion of something outside the brain/mind - consciousness, as far we know, is just an emergent property of a sufficiently complex organism, and we may very well be able to replicate this with computers. In fact, recent studies are showing that what we perceive as "consciousness" actually occurs very late in the cognitive chain of events. We can actually predict the probability of certain actions based on brain state before a person is consciously aware of having made a decision. To say "consciousness is different from the mind" is to assert as truth something which has only shaky, contested evidence at best. You are expecting viewers to take this "on faith", which seems to be totally out of line with the other topics you speak about.

Wow..that tidbit was interesting..."a loss in the material world results in a gain in the conscious world"....where or how did you derive that? I can see it, but i never heard someone say that.

Well it's also a tenet in many religions such as Christianity's "you cannot serve God and mammon."

Not to speak for Mr. Lorax but it comes from one of the most fundamental truths there is. "Existence and non-existence are equivalent". Add to that the conservation of energy principle and the fact that consciousness belongs to the non-existent side of things(i.e. it has NO physical component) and you get the statement that a loss in one area is automatically a gain in the other. This is what the yin-yang symbol is intended to illustrate. There isn't really any division between them, the division is largely created by the limitations of our physical senses which can be and frequently are transcended. the terms "loss" and "gain" are not really appropriate either but do make for much easier verbal communication.

Love your vids lorax! All of your videos make me think. You have some awesome insights.
I just made a video to atheists "a message to atheists" about the soul and how I didn't know where the soul came from. I guess we could interchange soul and consciousness. Before abiogenisis where was consciousness? Or right after the big bang where was consciousness? Are rocks conscious? Is consciousness just neurons who communicate effectively? I guess I'm a nihilist, however, if the big bang and evolution are correct consciousness has to be in all matter and every rock. If you guys are really into consciousness, one of the leaders is Deepak Chopra, but before you go to far, watch the debate between him and Sam Harris. Sam Harris tears Deepak a new one. Watch out what you replace your gods and religion with.

Your ideas on consciousness sound very similar to what I've read from Anthony Peake, Ervin Laszlo, and Thomas Campbell. If you're not familiar with them, you can read a thumbnail summary of their books on Amazon.

Can you explain how one can become a consciousness being so they can make change?

I was heavily into buddhism which completely changed my perspective of the world/universe. Some guys you could look up are OSHO and Eckhart Tolle who wrote the Power of Now, which is a must read.

Yes, traditional religious books, although not perfect have generally stood the test of time and are the initial source of most information and practices that gets recopied elsewhere.

lorax2013 I'll check em out with a more open mind but generally I find traditional religious texts contradicting, open to interpretation and hard to decipher. Perhaps I'm looking through the wrong lens. Anyway, I always look forward to your videos. I really appreciate the different perspective.
atheists unite Thanks! I've had a couple Deepok Chopra books on my to-read list for a while but I've never gotten to them.

∆rtemis To each his own, everyone must follow their own path. I just said he is a guy who has written a lot of books on the matter of consciousness and how it relates to the universe and society.
If you want to see a debate, watch deepak and sam harris have a little talk on youtube. Then you can decide which path you want to follow. It is amazing how things get clarified when people are pressed on particular issues.
