  • Building a district for nightly activities in this huge medieval Minecraft city. The desert is hot, and people need a place to cool down in the evening.
    Sangra'Qur is the capital of Dokar, a desert kingdom of Ushea. A wealthy city, built on trade and inovation where the river Qur, which splits the dry desert, meets the ocean.

    My favorite thing about your builds is that you do interiors too. There’s so many times I see a super cool build, but then find out it’s just a hollow shell. I always hate that. But you got the cool builds, AND they have interiors. And you put so much thought into your interiors too and I looooove it

      Thank you! Interiors take up most of the time, but they make the builds feel more «real» in a way

    Just some ideas to expand on the 'special building'.
    -Such a place would produce a LOT of washing needs. Like a lot. So maybe having a shed or something where that all gets gathered together in baskets to be taken to the river and to sort once cleaned. Or even go real fancy and give them some sort of well so they can source the water in house.
    -bathing facilities. Neither the ladies or their visitors are going to want to be dirty, for the women it's something they'll probably need to do inbetween visitors, cause wiping themselves down with a cloth only does so much. It's also something the owner can charge visitors for access to. If not part of the 'special building' itself then certainly next door, possibly with a backdoor entrance the working women can take advantage of.
    -Maybe a small and not so obvious dormitory/barracks that serves as the Ladies 'private' rooms. Cause the women working their probably don't get to use the rented rooms when they're sick or need a night off or even when they're an employee but too young for that work. It can also serve as a place for the women to get all dolled up ready for work without being as public as in the 'rental' area. Also a place to relax and rest for those that don't have elsewhere to go, or do other.
    -Though saying that, but not necessarily connected to the 'special place' itself, the city needs an orphanage. Maybe a couple/few. Maybe one between the 'special building' and the docks to pick up the 'youthful indiscretions' of sailors and local women. Another near the palace gate funded by the king, which also serves as a source of recruits and errand runners for the castle/palace. Possibly one connected/inside some noble's mansion, thinking maybe a widow who's lost her children and now looks after the orphans as a way to cope with her loss. Maybe one connected to a temple due to how the god's religion encourages acts like that (or as a source of recruits)

    From personal experience, i will tell you that a farmer - at the end of the day, would never climb a straight up ladder to get to sleep. They would find a patch of straw before doing that. That farmer's house needs a normal set of stairs up to the sleeping area. Just sayin'. They are dead tired and would never risk climbing up such a ladder, because it could mean their end. Not just because they might fall and die, but because even a small fall and fracture would mean nobody in the field tending to it. They are pretty cautious creatures - and of habits. They like things following a pretty set path.

      @@Viggoman I hope you'll appreciate this! I'm currently working on a world where, in the lore, there's a race of magical creatures made of glass. Accordingly, their city has the "safest" architecture in the world. Firm guard rails, no high drops, no perilous dangling ledges, etc.
      It's fun to contrast it with the neighboring "human" cities where "let's see how tall we can build" is taken to the extreme.

  • @aserta
    @aserta Месяц назад +10

    Add a few big trees here and there. I've been in various places and there's always an old, droopy tree that's survived development over the years, growing awkwardly in the new house's back garden or the corner of a street, threatening to fall off at any sign of a storm. :)
    PS years ago, i was in Pamukkale and stumbled upon a very old, tall (about 2 meters or more) cactus.

    9:16 With how well built the whole area is, I think you can pass this district as where the original manor resided while the palace was being constructed. This manor could also have been built directly on top of a former rival house.

    I really like how there's kind of a symbolism to this. Right underneath the pyramid, the city's majesty and grandeur, is the dark side of the city.

    In ancient Egypt exactly what gods or stories of the gods would change over time. Sometimes quite rapidly. It could be intersting to include a run down abandoned temple of a god that has fallen out of favor and be removed from the pantheon/made illegal. And you could include the secret ways a cult who still worships that god does so!

    I love your builds, and I recently joined the server to look at them. Even without shaders they look awesome, but I think something you kind of "lack" in your building skills is texturing, and sometimes also attention to details. What makes me think that is that the texturing on the roads of the city, atleast in my opinion, looks pretty boring; it's literally one block repeated all the time. And to be fair I don't know why, since in Osterham the texturing of the roads was awesome. I think the roads should be more like the roads of Osterham, with more dirt and wooden planks that make up the road. But maybe since sangra qur is a richer city, it could be that the roads are mostly made of stone, but still they would need to be well textured and also I don't think carts and people crossing the streets everyday wouldn't bring some dirt over the streets. Having dirt would mean having some grass at the edge of the roads, just like in real life. When I talk about "attention to detail", what I mean, is mostly realism. For example, on the edges of the walls that contain the river, the texturing at the bottom of the wall looks exactly the same as the block that is at the opposite, on top, which is, in my opinion, weird. In fact, if stone gets touched by water repeatedly (in this case, since sangra qur really isn't a new city, for decades or centuries) it is very likely for it to develop mossom. I hope you don't see these as insults to your creations, but rather as critics since as I have said, I love them, and if I say those stuffs is because I want to "contribute" in some way ti make the project as beatiful as possible. Keep going!

    • @Viggoman
      @Viggoman  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback! It is mostly laziness on my part ehe. I have to balance between getting alot of stuff built and go into too much detail. But for the roads and the river I should probably do as you said and go in and change some stuff up a bit. Some parts as you probably saw are very textured, and other super plain

    I had a question concerning your Crasburg series, just wondering why you stopped it. (Sorry if its a question that was already asked but i couldnt find any announcement video about it and i haven seen you connected on twitch for a while now)

    • @Viggoman
      @Viggoman  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you! Crasburg is ended, my building skill has improved so much over the years, and the modpack has added so much more that the current state of Crasburg was way below my current standard. So it was easier, and more motivating to start something new than rebuilding the entire city
