    Awesome build! I love seeing some of the older Technic parts LEGO no longer makes since they were made way before I started getting into LEGOs.

    I got this set as a kid in the 90s, and I finally put in the effort to sort and count all the pieces (and find a few missing ones). I built the whole set in one sitting today and I must say it was quite challenging, the instructions from the 90s are no joke! My version is yellowing in places, still a little dusty in others, and has the odd cracked piece, but it’s my favourite childhood set and I love it!

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  Год назад +1

      I love 90's instructions, in fact most Lego instructions till say ~early 2000's are more challenging and enjoyable to work from. It's good to hear you were able to re-build your childhood set and feel the joy of this build all over again. For me this is still one of my most prized and favorite sets, even more so than the Creator Expert version that I just built the fuel tank, boosters and launch platform for!

    Omg just yesterday I was remembering my brother build this when I was 8. I loved the fiber optics in it. So crazy I was thinking of this then it popped up. This set is one of my top most nostalgic sets of all time.

    I built this with my little hands as a kid, after being in a major accident which left me temporiraly paralyzed on the other side, had to learn to use my right side arm and leg again.
    It helped a lot with finger motor functions.
    Thanks Lego! :>

      Now that's dedication! I'm impressed. I found the Air Tech Claw Rig (8868) to be another fun and well designed vintage Technic set. It's not as good or as well engineered as the Shuttle but it is still an impressive set with a lot of playability.

    Hey! I have one of those! If I may ask, what did you pay for it? I picked up mine at an antique shop for $30 American nearly new box and all. It was a bit of a pain to assemble compared to modern Technic but you know that already. Great vid as always and keep up the great work.

    man... those times when pins and axles were black... and colored bricks were there for an actual reason

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 года назад

      ah yes the good old days! ...what bugs me with some recent releases, including adult targeted Creator Expert, UCS and Ideas type sets, is where you can clearly see brightly coloured parts used for the frame or sub assembly of the model from the outside. This can really detract from the finished look of model.

    Lego never reissued this set. Why. The new ones they put out are garbage.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 года назад

      Hi Michael - I agree with you some of the newer Technic sets aren't great. But I think the Technic line is strong and Lego are doing some superb sets - like the large 1:8 scale super cars, the Liebherr Excavator and other similar construction or feature-rich sets like the Rough Terrain Crane.
