I used Scott's Hault on 2/27 here in central MS on my St. Aug. I'm going to spray some Dithiopyr on 5/7 but I laid sod on 20% of my front yard two weeks ago. Do I spray the new sod too or spray around it? Love the videos!

We are so glad to hear you love our Lawn Care series and thank you for your question. Dithiopyr should not be used on newly sodded lawns until it is well established. Newly established turf must have developed a good root system and a uniform stand, and have received at least two mowings following sodding before making the flrst application of this product. Premature use on sod can cause injury to the sod. Please let us know if you have any more questions. We are always happy to help!

what are you using to kill the poa annua? i was looking at Quali-Pro Negate 37WG or PoaConstrictor. i would like to treat both poa annua and poa trivalis but qualipro says not for residential use any idea why?
watering isnt as strait forward as some people think, with hard, dry, dead soil it doesnt absorb like a properly amended soil. i did an aeration after at least 1 or 2 inch of rain and anything below 3/4" was bone dry, so we have to make sure its absorbing.

Thank you for your questions. Can you tell us what type of grass you currently have? This is what determines what herbicide we would recommend for your usage. Some products are not labeled for residential use because the manufacturers do not want to pay for the extra testing the EPA requires to add residential use to the label.

Kentucky blue, tttf, kentucky/texas hybrid, rye, and fine fescue is what the majority are.

This is a tough one. Since poa annua is a cool season grass and all of the grass species listed in your answer are also cool season grasses it is difficult to find a selective herbicide that will kill the poa without damaging the other grasses. Prograss is the product we would recommend for this treatment. It is pricey but it will get the job done without damaging the desired grasses. You can also put down a fertilizer with a high nitrogen content to help kill out the poa after the herbicide application. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. We are always happy to help!

Why kill Poa now when it's at the end of its life cycle? There's no point, it's a winter annual and is dying. While it was growing in the spring it dropped thousands of seeds which will germinate in the fall starting the cycle all over again. Don't wast your time and money killing it now, just let die out.
