RIP Michael K Williams. The man was one hell of an actor and gave it his all to portray them as full fledged characters, no matter how little screen time he got.
Obviously the wire is the best drama that will likely ever get made but imo community is up there in terms of comedy it's basically what 30 Rock should have been but it was marketed terribly.
@@emeraldcelestial1058 Community and 30 Rock are pretty much nothing alike.
@@flacidhouse350 Yes because Community is actually good.
@@flacidhouse350 i believe he means from a popularity standpoint

@Jim Bob's Arcade congrats dude, you’ve singlehandedly ruined a potentially good comment thread with just one fell swoop.

@@MegaChigga Political non sequiturs, unfortunately.
'A man's gotta have a code'.
'Awesome!'.
- Basically every fan of The Wire's reaction to that line, Omar comin'
I bet Jim Rash wasn't even acting at that moment.
Kane was an underrated secondary character
Underrated? He was pretty revered both on site and by the audience as the actor is quite famous
Not at all underrated
He was just on another level from the rest of the characters entirely, but it somehow meshed together perfectly, especially here haha.
One of the best parts about Community is how much all those different genres blended and fit so well within the different settings and styles they chose. Really great stuff.
yeah, should've gotten way more screen time.
I honestly wanted to see more of him, I wanted him back once Starburns was found not to be dead :(
The amount of character acting power in this scene. Are u sure Community was a comedy?.
It was several genres but it was mainly a sitcom, the actors were just invested in it and amazing at what they did especially when it came to provide humor.
@Jim Bob's Arcade What tf are you on about
Jim Bob's Arcade Did you forget to take your pills this morning?
@Jim Bob's Arcade You don't see me with my "Crusading with your sword of hate to help heal the world" attitude and counseling oh I don't know Ozark Game of Thrones Blackish there are a number of reasons completely valid to cancel a number of shows have them off the air in their entirety due to their inability to Rainbow everyone's taste buds Community was our show it was a show that had a small community following it loving it cherishing it and then motherfuking covid-19 showed up and you ran out of goddamn Tiger King episodes to watch you got angry over the RUclips you saw and you took it out on my Community show well Tupac (who is still alive) said it best I'm not a killer but don't push me revenge is the sweetest Joy next to getting......
Yes comedy at its core.
No matter how silly everyone in that college was, the silliest thing here is that his uncle, a lieutenant colonel, showed up out of the blue having a full excuse of his being there completely knowing about the situation and prepared to represent him as an attorney in perfect uniform.
I think that goes over many people's heads and thats what just makes Community so great. UNIFORM.
he was crashing on Todd's couch because he was in town for a wedding
He was his actual uncle?
Similar to a certain Professor Professorson.
Jeff: uniform

Most of that speech is 100% from Omar in the Wire. "A man's gotta have a code' was one of his best lines.
Be it in The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, or Community, Michael K Williams is a treasure.
He also played in Hap and Leonard. Great show.
I'm a longtime Community fan that started watching The Wire recently and I'm lowkey mindblown with this reference

"Who honors the *pinky swear* of a degenerate over the word of a decorated soldier?"
Michael Kenneth Williams as Professor Kane was indeed an under used character and actor in this season and series! He was one of my favorite guest stars. There was so much potential for more storylines with him and the study group. I wish they would’ve kept him on!
I kinda like the professors who only show up for half a season
@@fearofowl5973 Objection, I hate the both of you
The way he said "See you in class" as they say "see you in court" in law and order had me rolling! great ep!
What _Starface_ was doing is irrelevant.

No doubt.
*Whistles The Farmer in the Dell*
Love how they mixed Law and Order and A Few Good Men this show is just amazing on all levels
And Omar from the wire
I read somewhere that if you want to be an actor, you should play drama as a comedy and comedy as drama.
This clip is compelling proof that at least half that statement is true.
I read somewhere that the deleted scenes are the scenes, and the scenes are the deleted scenes.
@@nachiketmalpathak9039 professor a.nadir
Yeah, being able to find the moments of levity and light in a drama as well as finding the heart and emotional core of a comedy are super useful skills that can really elevate a performance.
What about shows like this where it's both a comedy and sometimes a drama as well?
Vesperitis please tell me where you read that, that sounds super-helpful for writing
We are definitely dissecting pinecones next year
Michael Ironside is one of the best guests they had on the show.
WAIT MICHAEL IRONSIDE? SAM FISHER? HOLY SHIT
And John Goodman
George Takei.
@@BrownRicePaddy The only Sam Fisher I'll recognise anyway
Just wait till we see him reprise his role as Colonel Dugan in Cobra Kai

@Jim Bob's Arcade I just love how you can't even bring yourself to type Voldemort's name but just go with 'T'. Ashamed of him much?
@Jim Bob's Arcade Millions of people who have never voted Dem in their lives are voting against Voldemort in November. At the 2016 Rep Convention there was a small but vocal group who said anyone but Voldemort. So before you call me a liberal, stop and consider if you may be acting like a moron.
@Jim Bob's Arcade Love a quote from people too dense to think up their own arguments.
@Jim Bob's Arcade Thank you for getting back on Community. Leonard is a great guy. Doesn't care about what others think!
I love the little pause Jeff has before saying "pinky swear." You can tell he's embarrassed to even bring this up
I love the fact that it wasn't the ridiculousness of the pinky swear that got called out here, just the idea of honoring a promise to someone who is sketch as fuck.
Played straight and with a surprising amount of levity from a sitcom
And Ironside's voice as he says "pinky swear" is hilariously awesome.
@@muznickthat was funny 😂

Welcome to Greendale, you're already accepted and where you also lower your standards.
R.i.p. Michael K. Williams who said "man's gotta have a code" in my two favorite shows. And was one of the greatests this world had ever saw.
Rest In Peace, Professor Kane.

It’s a shame this was Kane’s last episode. He was such a good foil.
Professor Kane was such a good character, and he played it so cold almost like a real inmate.

Professor Kane was such a well written & powerfully acted character! So good! I just wish we had gotten more of him!

So can we just appreciate the weirdness of Omar Little facing Darkseid in community college?
With Stitches, Wilbur Wilson, and Zoya the destroyer as witnessing the epic battle

One of the few times where Jeff fails to sway the Dean to his cause by simply existing. Imagine what the Dean would do if Jeff wore a uniform...
He flopped on the ground and squirmed around when he saw Jeff in aviator sunglasses. Probably a little something like that
Here after I heard the news
What a legend, gone too soon.

Welp, time to rewatch The Wire
I started watching and I'm halfway through Season 2
LMAO the pinky swear
One of my favorite things about this show is how they were able to get so many great actors, known mainly for drama, and have them play their roles completely straight; that makes the fact that what they're dealing with is so absurd even funnier
"The one shadow that no one's ever suspicious of is his own. When you're close enough to read the label on his uniform, close enough to smell his aftershave, every step he takes is a step you've given him. A step that brings you closer to your objective."

Too bad Kane didn't last long in that season
Was there any reason why he didn't return?
@@johne6106 They only said in the show that he thought the death of Alex (Starburn) was his fault so he decided to leave the school

Still not as bad as Lukka.
In his head, Dean is just going: NOW KISS.
Jeff knows the Dean too well hahahah
