I see this is the second video in a row where you’ve been photobombed by a nice sea trout, around the 13:23 mark. You’ll have to get the line-thru’s and teasers out at this rate. Cheers.

Nice to watch video again as always and very rig informative today, not often you will get to see Martins Dingle Dangle rig being used here in UK. Most wont realise this new so called "Dongle rig" doing the rounds here now, was copied from the afore mentioned South African Dingle dangle rig above. The Crimps were an interesting variation though, but think lm happier sticking with my trace body knots and snelled circle hooks lengths on my dingle dangle rigs. Always like Newton classic Cod ground summer or winter.
Like you said and this rig is definitely more suited to big big baits where the likes of pullys would never work. If the target species have teeth then it's wire not mono. I said the same as you but I done as I was taught, failed at first because I didn't use crimping pliers, but once I did, it hasn't failed yet. I may persuade david to do a video on stress testing to show knots V Crims.
@@martinking9663 l cheat here as lve seen all this evolve first hand , when l first started going to RSA and Namibia 20 years ago when they hadn't progressed passed a flapping patornoster, multis and mono. @davidmilne9911 yeah it's crazy seeing them all on the beaches and rock ends for the comps! But what's even more bonkers is all the locals swimming out with a trawler net practically and hauling it all in by had! 🤯 Glad you liked the tips mate 👍 I'd be lost without my power gun tbh hahaha I've used it under the pully beads to register bites better so it acts like a patonoster and can still pull through like the pully.

For anyone intrested in crimping over knots. I use prowla crimping pliers, .80 double barrel stainless crimps with 80lb mono. When crimping dont crimp right to the end, you need the ends to flare. Crimping retains 100% of the line strength when done correctly.
Another awesome session Dave in not the best conditions fishing with your friend Martin another good angler and knows his stuff just like yourself m8, some good top tips. Great vid David 👌🏻Martin seemed a really good lad too .. and good angler 👍🏻 lovely Kelpy.. I was looking at the bend in his rod thinking that it was a 6lb plus fish .. some great little tips in that vid too
Done that rig a couple of months ago, but I clipped the weight line straight onto the mainline. Then I evolved the idea into a 2 hook system using a cascade swivel on the bottom snood, so it's a paternoster on the top and uno rig on the bottom. And it's a brilliant rig that works.
@@martinking9663 it fishes great, I also only use small hooks with fat gauges like sakuma octopus and chinu hooks, then called it the sliding uno pat rig. And with it being a sort of uno rig, on the bottom you can have a 6 foot snood length if you ever need it. Pulley systems is all is use on my big gear and swear by them. And ye, go for it, experiment, that's what I do to 😉
Fantastic mate. I love my greys triplex 16ft. Like martin says the extra hight gives you that little bit extra, even more so when on ciff tops. Looking forward to the next one
@Madmicksoutdooractivities I had to take the break unfortunately so that wasn't much of a decision, I could have hung onto the rod but it was money better off used elsewhere. So, while it was a regret, it was out of necessity.

Another great video. Great to see Martins approach. Super rig. Been using a very similar setup for the last 3 seasons on our coast and think its brilliant. Alot to learn from the south africans...the chocka (squid) baits look brilliant but not had amazing results with them, keep trying tho😂. Picked up a Zulcron bass this week, very impressed. Couple of mods to make it better are ongoing 😉
Top secret prep with the squid takes about a week hahaha, definitely not for those who have a weak gag reflex. There 1 mark local that fishes very well on the "prepped" squid.
Hi Martin be good to know your crimp method. Tried it before but not confident in the crimps as some could be pulled apart. Went straight back to knots 👌
@nickpalfreyman4627 I had the same issue but I was just using pliers, then got a SA education, they only use knots 40lb or less rest is crimps. You must use proper crimping pliers, can't stress it enough. Never had 1 part since plus it makes it so much quicker to make with 0 strength loss.
@@nickpalfreyman4627 thanks very much Nick. Yep, always fun and interesting to understand different approaches for sure, keeps it interesting. Thanks for watching and tight lines 🙋♂️
@davidoldboy5425 They hook very we'll and is what's used for bigger specimen all over the world. Because of the design, they only lip hook. Good for returning fish.
@davidoldboy5425 no mate non at all lip hooked or in the scissors every time. Only time I've lost fish when using that hook is when the lead didn't brake free. I've had skate, rays, dogfish, tope, huss, cod, bass, hounds, cob, bronzie, even down to rocking, dab, place ect brilliant for fish conservation especially with your flat fish. Couldn't recommend the hooks enough. Only time I'll use J hooks is when I'm pennaling large squid or comp fishing when I know they are coming home to eat.
Unfortunately I don't. Not sure people would want to watch me, face for radio and swear a lot. Probably call myself the angry angler or something, be a laugh though
@johndodd4375 thanks for the feedback, I was asked to talk about a different style not common here in the UK so quite a lot of explanation for those who are interested, took a lot to actually talk on camera so perhaps a little nervous also.
