I hate the wait,so using lures or flies is way way better, i do some walking have some beers inbetween spots and go home tired and happy :)))
Something special about seeing that float Bob and then go under, usually stick to deadbait when it's really cold, but have a chuck about with a lure to stay active at the same time. Class vid as always lads!

As much as I love lure Fishing, I must admit I love deadbaiting. Nothing better than sitting under a brolly in the middle of winter in the pissing rain chilling. On the big Scottish Lochs it can often be more productive than lures during the cold months

Lure is pure ! Love the search, the exercise and the graft to get that take nothing else is so rewarding , BUT would love a couple of hours with a big deadbait to see what comes knocking 👀
keep in mind, a lure is just fake bait!
The reason bigger pike take more bottom baits is they're slower than your active Jacks so cruise the bottom looking for an easy meal.Jacks will respond to a quicker moving bait like a spinner,live bait or a moving deadbait.

I do a bit of deadbaiting and this is my thoughts, yes its not as enjoyable as lure fishing for mw, but when you see that float starting to move its like a electric shock to the system, i tend to turn to deadbaits when it gets really cold
Rig wise, i would just say with the two trebles, and it looks as though you had your float fixed in place, if you change to having a sliding stop knot above the float, the the float can come down to the top of your trace which helps with casting and playing fish

Been on the rods for two weeks straight on the canals with a bro of mine n to say it’s been slow is an understatement 😂 2 full blacks and only one session with a double hook up in about 5 mins of each other, still love it it’s all about the graft the pike the reward 😎

As a Canadian, I can tell you. Dead baiting is the way to go for big pike. 40, even 50+ Northern pike are definitely in our waters.

Dead bait twitching is the way forward. Pull the trace through the dead baits mouth and out the gill. That way you have a line thru dead bait what won't come off on the cast

I wanna see more of you boys deadbaiting. Iv had 4 20lb plus fish ranging from 22lb to 27lb with a 26lber being my second biggest.
Big baits lads the biggest mackerel you can get chop it's head off and youl get in to som bigguns. Cutting the head off releases alot more blood as its where most of the blood is

I love my pike fishing and do prefer lure fishing and caught some real big 1s but also caught some big pike on deadbait usually on a real cold frosty morning if I do deadbait nowadays it will only be for an hour or so like first light then walk about with a lure had a 17lb this month being the biggest this year so far but hey they all count lol fair play guys
