- In today's video, we are checking out a wireless xlr system that has an option for phantom power. This is the Kimafun XLR Wireless system, and it's a very easy to use system if you need to transmit wireless xlr signal for something like PA speakers or a microphone. Thank you to Kimafun for sending me this product to check out, and I will be giving away one of these to one of my subscribers!

Congrats to the winners!! Super cool that these companies value your work and a giving products to give away
I agree, I'm glad so many of them are willing to do that :)
Loving the vidoes, Scott. Appreciate the time and content you are putting out, thank you!
Thanks Shaun!
Love the channel, Scott. Always finding new gear from your videos!
Thanks for watching Matt!
Been doing some research for wireless systems on a budget, going back on stage for the first time in a couple years. really dig the videos ive seen so far!
Thanks, and good luck with the show 🤘🤘
Love, love, your gear reviews, Scott! Been looking for cheaper solutions for wireless mics. Will definitely consider this Kimafun gear.
Thanks! Glad to help
Hi Scott: your reviews are excellent and I have learned a lot about wireless gadgets for musicians and bands, and all other areas you talk about. Thanks for the great job!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks, Scott. As a part-time performing musician, quality inexpensive gear is crucial. I appreciate your reviews.
Glad to help!
Good work as always. I been using the Nux's wireless (5.8) for a few months now after my ammoons fell apart. Working great so far! Also I use 2 Widi Jacks to have a midi controller up front stage and the ampero stomp back by the amp and not have an annoying cable running across the stage. All things I got for watching this channel the last couple years!
Nice! Good call with the Widi Jack for sure! I’m planning on doing something sorta similar too
I have just found your videos. They have been super informative. Keep it up.
Great Review, application guide and instruction manual all in one vid. Thanks Scott.
Thanks!
Great review, short and straight to the point. Keep it up! 😊
Thank you!
Your videos are honestly so great for getting even more ideas on how to spend my money in irresponsible ways, keep up the great work :)
That's what I'm here for! 😅
Dude, I've been using these thanks to you and they are amazing!! It's crazy he distance I get on these! Thank you!
Yeah man, this thing really is quite the beast!!
@@ScottUhlMusic yes sir. I use it on the Aux out of my mixer to transmit sound to another room or outdoor patios so wedding guests on the patio or in another room can hear whats going on in the main reception area.
Cool video man. love your channel and your videos have helped a lot in understanding wireless systems more.
Thanks! I want to go more in depth for a video some day really doing a master class explaining it. Someday!
Awesome! Thank you for posting this video. It saves me from running cables around house. Thanks again.
It’s a life saver for sure! Just used it at a show today
Thank you, Scott. Midwest Documentary Center is a small non-profit that creates historical documentary films. We purchased the Kimafun system based primarily on this review. The unit provides us with fast, efficient and reliable wireless access to a boom mic -- it's a huge problem-solver on set. As a small non-profit, we can't afford to make purchasing mistakes. We can't afford to buy an item only to discover it doesn't do everything we expected of it. Your insightful, accessible, and comprehensive reviews have proven themselves to be a tremendous benefit to us. You have our sincere gratitude.
Awesome! I’m glad to hear that! And yeah this one is a really helpful device for sure. I use it at many shows as a wireless for my PA speakers and it’s great 👍
Very cool that this can do phantom power at this price point. Thanks for another useful review.
Yeah, it’s pretty wild. One of the shows I did with it, the sound guy said “wait… it’s battery powered and provides phantom power!?”
I love that the antenna is removable. I do live looping and have to be right at my pedal boards so I sure don't need the antenna! (my vocal processor is on one of my two pedal boards) I appreciate your videos, thank you.
Yeah it’s a cool feature! I love that they included that as an option
Great review! Thank you for making it. I bought both because of your good advice.
Awesome! Thanks!
Thanks, Scott. You are very generous
Thanks!
Looks likea great piece of gear.Great video Scott
Thanks Mick 🤘
Awesome; so helps out with prep time; it's a godsend for sure...
Yup, especially for speakers, this thing is amazing
love the tutorials looking forward to purchasing through your link
Thank you! 😊
This looks very exciting.
It's pretty sweet 🤘
Thanks! Your videos are so helpful and informative.
Thanks Scott 🤘
Thanks Scott, like always, awesome vídeos
Thanks 😊
I've been looking for a wireless solution for "audio" (outdoor gigs). This sure looks like it might do the trick! Thanks for the review Scott!!! - Dutch
Hey Dutch! Yeah this thing works great for sure for wireless PA systems. I really like it. Definitely use the antennas with it 🤘
I was looking for something like this! Great Review!
Thanks! Possibly win another one? Haha
great vid I bought the Lekato wireless because of your vids , thanks
Nice, that Lekato is great too
Nice review. Sound is great. Great product👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
top stuff as always
Thanks Daniel!
Great new products for working musicians!
It's a main part of my setup now for sure!
Very much appreciate this video...Thank you for that...
Thanks for watching 🤘
Thanks, great information.I’m passing this on.
Thank you :)
Awesome product.
Just used it again today, it really is great 🤘
Sweet video! Looks high tech. Would look cool on stage for a futuristic act.
My original project Spiral Cell is very sci fi oriented with a stage production…. Might just have to do that myself 😊
I love the concept. Our HOA is workin* on upgrading our aging audiogear
Nice!
Myself I am an audio phile . I put together a lot of my audio gear. Built vacuum amp for my electric guitars and harmonica microphone.
Trying to figure out building a Wi-Fi connection from my guitar to my amplifier.
Well that’s cool!
🤘🤘
I will be buying one of these defo
It’s worth it!
Have the same ones in XLR and 1/4", love them, I also have ones with built-in FX that are awesome! :)
Nice! Yeah these are super helpful little devices 🤘
Now using Kimafun for system tuning measurement mics with Smaart and Crosslite+. My use case is for large line array system alignment at events. The phantom power is key feature for condenser measurement mics. I have found by measuring Kimafun itself with Smaart there is Polarity inversion and the frequency response has a significant roll off below 100hz. For my purposes, I have created a custom correction curve to correct for "voice mic tuning" in this wireless system allowing me to take "flat" measurements. I have also made short polarity inversion cables for the receivers. This is a much cheaper option compared to systems like Lectrosonics recommended by Rational acoustics who develop Smaart. Speed is very important for system tuning at events and being able to move the measurement mic without a cable to different audience positions is great.
On your comment to use Kimafun for speaker extension .. take note there is a low end roll off at 100 Hz and a polarity inversion. I have recently found Klark Teknik has a stereo transmit/receive pair called Air Link series (DW 20R and DW 20T). Would be cool if you could review these products on your channel? I recently bought the KlarkTeknik Air Link Blue tooth 'DI' for wireless break music with my iphone and it seems to be rock solid and sounds great.
thanks for all your great videos Scott, they have been very helpful to me.
Nice, I’ll have to look into that more! It’s affordable for sure, although it’s on 2.4ghz. But it’s still cool it’s a stereo set. Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome! Now we just need wireless power for all the gear 😆
Someday!
Thanks very helpful..
Thanks!
Nice review...
Thanks 😊
very useful thank you for the amazing giveaway
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! I’d definitely use the wireless unit for a remote PA powered speaker.
It works amazing for that!
Hey, you actually won the contest :) congrats! Reach out to me on my website… link in the description. Thanks!
@@ScottUhlMusic Whoa! Thanks! Will do.
Thanks for another great video!
I was wondering what your signal flow is (for the show). I didn’t see it listed below.
I think your audio and video fidelity could possibly be refined with very little investment.
I’m not a salesperson, I don’t represent or work for any gear companies or sellers.
Just hoping I could help if ur open.
Your content is still top notch!
Keep ‘em coming.
I got a new camera and have been using it for all my videos in 2023 👍
And signal flow? I use this either microphone into the mixer or mixer to my speaker. It replaces an xlr cable 👍
I love wireless gear. Makes the stage setup so much nicer and easier to setup etc. I don’t however like spending hours everyday recharging that wireless gear inbetween gigs 🤦♂
haha, I have a system now. When I get home, I know exactly what to plug in for recharging and I have different spots for each type.... one spot for AAs, one spot for USB c, one spot for iPads, one spot for Micro USB, one spot for Special Shure ones, and one spot for 9v lol. It's worth it though!
I’m going to get one, hoping it will do well for my trumpet mic.
Nice!
I’ve figured out how to use the internet to answer my questions instead of just texting you! Thanks! 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hahahahaha
One of the drummers I play with ladies and gentlemen 🫡💪😊
@@ScottUhlMusic I know I’m late, I have been trying to mod this to power a Coda Stealth in-line pre amp for the Sm7b
I’m sure any other mic would be fine but I want to surprise people
I love all of these devices
Forwarding to our vocalist.
🤘
Thanks for this very helpful video man! But does this give a delay to the sound??
Nope 🤘
Hi Scott! What about using it for a line-out from my amp to the PA board? The less cables for me to trip over, the better. Also, could it conflict if I’m using the Lekato’s from my bass to the pedal board? I think the Lekato’s may also be 900 MHz, but with the ability to choose from 16 channels, maybe interference can be avoided? Thanks, great videos, info, and reviews.
Hey Sharon, yeah it would work for that as well. It can replace anything XLR 👍 and with only two wireless, that’s very unlikely for you to get interference from each other, so you should be good 🤘
Hi Scott. How bad do you think one of these would look on a Shure Super 55 or a Heil Fin? I'm interested over the Lekato because my IEM is in the 500MHz range.
Lekato is in 5.8ghz, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference. But with two wireless systems, you don’t really have to worry about frequency coordination, and can use stuff in the same frequency range
thanks Scott! can this switch to mic level and line level?
It doesn’t have a switch for that. I do wish it had that
This is cool. I wonder if this would work with a pm1 or p2 for a wireless IEM solution.
It definitely would work for that as well 👍 although they do have the IEM system I reviewed which is cheaper: ruclips.net/video/UorLl_vxYA4/видео.html
I'm sure it will. I did that with the X-vive xlr system before they came out with the in ear system.
Thanks. Can this unit extend operating time by connecting to external power through USB?
I believe you can, yes
Hi, great review. Can I plug the receiver to a Zoom H1N? It only has a 3.5mm Jack. is it possible to just get a converter and then plug that into the H1N ?
I believe so, yes 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic thank you
Hi Scott, would you recommed using this for a condenser mic while at the same time using the Swiff Audio for IEM?
Yeah that should be fine 👍 2 wireless at once is often ok
@@ScottUhlMusic Love u man, thnx
Do you know if you can use it plugged into power? Going to set it as an ambient room mic, but need it to run around 8-9 hours straight.
Side note - Broomfield here
I’m pretty sure you can but I haven’t actually tried it 👍
Hi. Is it attachable with AKG C411 transducer pickup which need phantom power..
I haven’t used one…. But This system has phantom power, so if your device requires phantom power, it should work with it
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for your reply. Actually I play mandolin, and finding one wireless system for my performance. I use AKG C411 transducer pick up connect with my mixer...this pick up has long cable. So I am searching that, and little confused which one will be perfectly okay for that.
can the receiver get charged from the mixers phantom power?
No, it has a built in lithium battery 👍
Hello
Does anyone know what mghz band this gear is working on in Aus? In Australia we are not to allowed to use gear in the 700 and 800mghz ranges Love to know before buying. Thanks
I would message them. They usually make ones for different countries to comply with the laws on frequencies
does this work with a pencondenser mic aka short shotgunmic and does this work with a normal shotgun mic due to the power usage needed for these mic's
If they need phantom power, this has an optional phantom power 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks they do need 48V
some have 12V that's why I asked. I'm getting one
Would you say studio quality use?
I think the tone is great... But who needs wireless in a studio?
Also, it is cheap, so manage your expectations. Everyone's tone definition is different about it than me. Keep all that in mind.
do you think Is better than the xvive U3C?
Yes because this is in 900Mhz instead of the 2.4Ghz the xvive is in
will it work with shotgun mics for video?
Anything that has xlr out… or even with something else you can always use an adapter 👍
I wonder if this would be better than the Phenix Pro mic. Probably would use this for the occasional best man type speech.
If you wanted to use a specific mic instead of the PP mic, this one can go onto any mic you wanted it to, so that’s a plus 👍
does it work with a condenser mic?
Yup, you just have to turn on that phantom power switch
Looks like you could plug in a usb powerbank and increase its run time massively
For speakers yeah! I’ll need to see if it can be used while plugged in
I actually have the Phoenix Microphones you reviewed.. But assuming that this would also work for keyboard
Nice! How are you liking the mics? And for keys, does it have a xlr out? I’m assuming it’s a quarter inch out, so you would probably need a guitar type wireless. I usually recommend this one and it’s $50: ruclips.net/video/DSqdd--06hQ/видео.html
@@ScottUhlMusic love the mics!!! And have the ammoon wireless you reviewed lol for my guitar and bass I will just get another one for our keyboard!!
Nice! Yeah I remember you got the ammoon one. Get that Swiff one I linked to. Because then the ammoon is 5.8ghz and the Swiff is 900mhz 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic looking at it now !!!
would this work with a Lapel mic?
I doubt the lapel mic would have an xlr adapter at the end of it. This is used to replace any xlr cable basically
I’m telling my friends about this
Spread the word!
Out of interest, how well do the batteries hold up? Given this video is a few months old I'd love to know what your thoughts are on it after a bit more time!
I use it constantly for 4 hour sets and it works great! Obviously phantom power drains it much faster, but I can do 4 hours without having to change
@@ScottUhlMusic Can you use them while charging?
Hi, can you charge and use these at the same time?
I’m pretty sure Yup 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic Hi, thanks for this, I also see you reviewed the lekato, is it the same for them?
@@garethfoster8475 I believe so yes, at least on the receiver anyways.
I do think these wireless microphones do sound pretty good on my cheap pair of headphones
I agree, I still use this one 🤘
I do also do use my gaming headphones for listening to use to being with some of my headphones do sound better than others on listening to podcasts or music but it just depends which headphones I used some sounds better than others even though gaming headphones are not exactly have amazing microphones like what you use
Gimmi that witless system 🥺
🤞
The issue with most of these wireless devices is that most mixers don’t have enough space between the xlr sockets to use them side by side. I.e. if you use six mics you won’t six receivers side by side. I suppose a short fly lead would do the job but then the receivers will be dangling down the back of the mixer. Not ideal!
I mention that in this video here: ruclips.net/video/Rs64Hglyv0E/видео.html
However, they make little xlr extenders for like $8 that work great
Can you pick what frequency it works at I.e. US, UK EU? If not, your prize only works for US subscribers.
That’s actually a good point, and I did not think of that! Thanks for mentioning that. The one they sent me is a 902-928mhz one, so it would have to be for US only. I totally didn’t think of that! Thanks for pointing it out
@@ScottUhlMusic They should have given you some kind of voucher to be used on the correct amazon site. .eu, or .uk if in Europe or UK.
I’ll see if I can mention that next time. I’ve worked with them before, and probably will again in the future. Thank you again for the suggestion!
Karaoke just got better.
It would work great for that too 👍
I hope one dayMy i win your giveaway
i badly want iem's!!
Thanks for trying! I do plan to do as many as I can. I have another IEM system coming in soonish
This.... Color me intrigued. Wireless headset mic. Hmmmm
You could attach it to a microphone that you already like that is not wireless for sure 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic, I'm thinking the Shure SM35, I think. It's a condenser. Either needs phantom from a compatible transmitter, or something like this. For my use, having a tiny reciever would be a win. Vocal processor thing on my pedalboard.
Those do have a specific cable end that is meant to go into Shure wireless systems. It might be easier for something like that to just get a BLX system: ruclips.net/video/k5OM4GUJNvQ/видео.html
@@ScottUhlMusicthey also sell a wired version of the mic, which has a pre-amp that terminates in a male XLR, requires phantom. That mic is $159, so....
