  • In today's video, we are checking out a very cheap, compact, and portable IEM system from Kimafun. This wireless in-ear monitor system has everything you need in order to start using wireless in-ear monitors, and is very affordable and works great. It does have some limitations to be aware of though. Many thanks to Kimafun for sending me this product to check out, and be sure to subscribe because I'll be giving away a free one next week.

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! And I wouldn't feel bad... you now have a very reliable system. When you buy cheaper stuff, you almost guarantee that at SOME point it's not going to work. That's just how it is. But now you have way less of a chance of that happening. My expensive sennheiser IEM and wireless system have never failed on me. I know they can... all gear can... but now you have that assurance!

      @@ScottUhlMusic in our band we always try to use your phrase “2.4 is a crowded network”. It’s a simple phrase but it really keeps us honest when we want to add another wireless item. Some venues we play at we have no issues, other venues our cheaper wireless items won’t work.
      Also, excited for your MultiTracker app video. We’ve been using the MultiTracker app for about 18 months and love it. We are currently in the process of adding midi DMX commands to sync with our backing tracks.

      @@barrymanilowswardrobe80sba51 Nice! Glad you've found it useful. And yeah, that's exactly how it is with cheaper gear. It works at some venues... and others it doesn't. My Sennheiser always works (so far).
      And yeah I need to go more in depth into Multi Tracker. Are you going to use the Multi Tracker app to send MIDI commands for lighting control? That's going to be pretty cool!

    I'm currently trialling the Debra ST-102 system. It's also digital digital audio (44.1, 24-bit), but operating over the 500-600MHz UHF band. At least where I play, I've had no problems with interference or noise, and unlike XVive, etc., it doesn't jam other wireless gear in the increasingly crowded 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands.

    Hey there, I've watch a lot of your videos and (I think) all of the ones on wireless. Thank you so much for the content, it's been extremely helpful!
    I have one big question... Do you have a tool or method that you recommend when you arrive at a new venue to determine which wireless to use? (UHF, 2.4, 5.2 etc...) and what channel is best? Or is there no way to determine that without going through and trying each one? I think a video on just that part of it would be REALLY helpful to a lot of people!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  Год назад +1

      Yeah, you can use an RF scanner or frequency analyzer and something like Shure Wireless Workbench. That’s definitely much more advanced! I plan to get one eventually, but for now, I honestly just scan at every venue. And it has worked out great!

    Awesome review Scott! I primarily do fly shows and IEM systems are called out in my rider but hardly ever provided. Exploring the possibilities of having an xlr running from my wedge or splitter box to feed into one of these devices. Just hesitant on a 2.4GHz system although the band as a whole does not use wireless setups to interfere with this. The other downside I do see is forgetting to power down the transmitter after soundcheck and being SOL for the show. I suppose I can hookup a usb power out on my pedalboard. I never really stray more than 30' from my pedalboard on the largest stages so I may be ok. Again, thanks for the review.
