But now I know you can just right click it with honey comb to make it not oxidize, you wouldn't even need a mod or something, this is a great idea you deserve my like

what if they made the different oxidation levels of copper have different redstone ‘resistances’? like the fresh block would conduct a redstone signal straight through, but the first step of oxidation passes a redstone signal through but subtracts four from its strength, etc. could be a cool way to give the different forms of copper a practical use
Idea: honeycomb some blocks to create a pixel art and then wait for the background to oxidize so the pixel art seems to "create itself" and add contraat with the time
I can see a minigame for this like 'guess where the waxed copper block is!' and you're given a certain amount of time to stand on a copper block and see if you landed on a waxed copper block or just a regular copper block. and by showing the results you can speed up tick speed

Random rate at which each individual block oxidizes seems to be a 2D simplex projected top-down. (Of course different algo couldve been used but you get the idea, they just took a very simple seed-based RNG/noise generator) This is why the irregular curvy patterns happen. Lookup what that noise can look like and you'll see similarities in shades on a grayscale.
So from the video, it looks like oxidation spread is slower grass growth with the dirt (clean block) also having a tiny chance to become grass (oxidized) The only difference would be that the grass has to grow three times to be done, like if grass grew dirt > mycelium > podzol > grass It's honestly pretty neat that it speeds up near other oxidized blocks because oxidation spreads from existing oxidation easier than popping up on a new spot. (Edit) Another difference is it could grow down a wall, but what would be really cool is if blocks not exposed to air couldn't oxidize, not sure if that's how they are but I hope so.
Would love to see a set of command blocks which spawns the oxidized copper cube, blasts it with lightning for a while, then removes the most oxidized layer or layers to reveal the inner pattern. I'm sure that's exactly what you explored on your live stream. If it's neat then peep us!
Seeing the lightning travel through the copper makes me wonder if I could make a Jacob's Ladder/spark gap with them. Has the potential for some cool electricity based traps if there's a way to store it.
