You would think so, but actually, there are people who like manual labor. Many people want to be lumberjacks or builders. Also it all depends on what kind of mine, and the equipment you are given. Also, mostly children were going thru tunnels that adults couldn't, as scouts, they weren't given the hardest jobs.

@weathermanh The teaser is supposed to be the hook, which has little context as possible but shows the visual style and characters involved. The trailers job is to pull people in by showing tidbits of the main plot line, aka introductions, setting, protags, and antagonists. There's a direction they're going, but at least TEASING the main villan in a "muahaha I'm walking down the staircase and you can see my sillouette" would've worked. Maybe they could've added more of the nether, or showcased some battles, because rn it just looks like they're walking and running in a blocky world without any actual... stakes.
I hate the fact that they didn’t choose to go with more of an ancient builders type story or even the arch illager but instead went with this. How fun would it be to have a whole movie about like maybe four or five characters exploring this world and slowly we get to piece together through their journey what happened to these people. You could even have it where the villagers don’t want to leave the kingdom and explore but these people do. Moana type thing. And in the end you could even have them finding the create the builders were trying to lock away dormant waiting to be woken up. How sick does that sound
Yeah they could have looked at matpats lore videos and could have taken some inspiration. I, for one, would have used them to make my idea of a Minecraft movie.
yeah. everything just looks ai generated/everything looks like its made of resin. this movie gonna fail so badly and i gonna laugh at it.. LAUGHH. becuz the director that made this abomination. prob never actually took critiquism that cgi doesn't work.

@@imafailurethree things 1.) most of the movie isn’t cgi, it’s mostly practical and made with physical props which look AMAZING, when you adjust to people being in a Minecraft world it actually looks pretty good 2.) This movie is essentially a multimillion dollar passion project, and it shows, nothing looks AI generated (no clue where you got that from) and everything simply OOZES with personality and attention to detail. The idea of a live action Minecraft movie is flawed, but with the way that it’s being executed, I think it’s very good in the way that it’s all being made. 3.) your name kinda checks out, you failed to see what the movie is, A Minecraft movie, it is simply supposed to be the director’s story because Minecraft is a tool to make stories. It is simply rude to insult the director after seeing all the care he put into this. Love it or hate it, it’s done, the movie is made, and it’s no where near as bad as it could’ve been. Now let’s just see where the story direction goes.
@@UnidentifiedFlyingSquirrel if they paid attention to detail there would be more stylistic consistency across the creature assets as well as no crazy bad fuck ups with the scaling lol. enjoy the movie i guess
@@imafailure You need to grow up and realize it's really not that bad, I actually kind of like it and even though it is slightly out of place I think they just made it work somehow.
It's such terrible advice. The hostile mob spawn rates in caves will be lower during the night, since many mobs will spawn on the now-viable surface, making night the BEST time to mine.
7:58 Of course there isn't. Ears are not made of bone, they are made of shark. (As in what sharks are made of, and I can't remember what that is at the moment)
If they stayed with their skeleton logic then there would either be three tiny random dots stuck to the side of his head or they would be floating there so they still made the best decision
I will not believe that the trailers are accurate depictions of the movie until it actually comes out. Up until them, I am 100% convinced that they are completely unrelated to the actual movie and a form of advertising by using the discussion of how bad the trailers are to get more attention
people said this with sonic until proven wrong when they made merch of that ugly ass model and the company confirmed they took the more human route although it would be hilarious if it turns out to be 100% animated with the best storytelling ever
I like how they really want to stick to the mechanics found in the game. This trailer gave me a little bit of hope It’s also promising that some prominent Minecraft players helped work on the movie behind the scenes
So many people hyper focused on the visuals in the first trailer. The sheep was goofy but it was a valid enough interpretation of the actual minecraft sheep that it wasn't an issue for me. I felt like those people were just complaining for the sake of piling on and getting to join the conversation. It was always the stilted dialogue, editing, and acting that put me off of this movie. The creative decisions don't bode well. I hope it is better than the trailers portray but I would be very surprised if it is.
5:00 I was expecting live action villagers with big noses plastered on. Their only lines would've been "Hmm" "Mhmmm" "Uh-uh", with their mouths closed.
Apparently there’s gonna be a side plot where someone in the real world falls in love with a villager or something??? I remember hearing that somewhere
I think the trailers make the movie seem like its an introductory trailer to minecraft, rather than a movie where you see the characters learning the mechanics themselves as most new players do. it feels more like a trailer for what minecraft should be like than what it actually is like
this was how the mario movie was for me. It was pure curiosity to see what animators did with the source material, and then I never think about it again
"As a child, I yearned for the mines" I KNEW IT! IT'S CONFIRMED! Jack Black is a dwarf. How did we not discover this sooner? Look at his majestic beard, for crying out loud!
I'm pretty pessimistic on this movie. "real person goes to game world" is always super hit or miss (usually miss) and this one seems like it's going to be 80% just "what if real person do game mechanics?". It feels like it's gonna get old pretty fast, and a lot of it will just be basically a checklist of things you can do in Minecraft. "wow, placing blocks? you can't place blocks in real life!", "things don't become smaller versions of themselves and float when you break them in real life, that's crazy!!". "when you place things on the crafting table, it makes other things?!?!?! How wacky!!!" I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it and then ofc on top of that the live action characters are just standing in front of a greenscreen with some props, and half the CGI models look disturbing as hell so... yeah not excited for this movie. If only they'd made it fully animated and have nothing to do with the real world, would've immediately been a huge improvement.
in terms of green screen, the running at 2:42 hurts my soul. it looks so bad. I wish the whole thing was animated. even jack black as the only human would have worked lol
Exactly. All it takes to form an even remotely solid idea for a Minecraft movie is to actually earnestly care about Minecraft in any way at any point, and somehow they couldn't manage it. Everything in this movie is so sarcastic and disingenuous, it makes me feel like the writers actually hate Minecraft and are trying to make me feel stupid for enjoying it. Most people would agree The Lego Movie was basically an ad for legos, but people love that movie, myself included, and thus far it's stood the test of time, because it's made by people who like legos and the story is built around what makes legos great. Side note. The very first thing they do in this trailer is make a reference to a social media post about Minecraft. There is nothing that can date a movie more efficiently than a reference to something as ephemeral as a social media post. I love the "children yearn for the mines" post as much as the next guy, but will I still be chuckling at that reference years down the line? Will anyone even get it in a few years? Probably not. I don't think this movie is going to have any lasting impact on culture, which is unfortunate, because Minecraft has; it's the best selling game of all time. Earnestness is timeless. This movie is not earnest.
Yeah, I really don't get why people are suddenly so excited for it simply because the trailer is a _bit_ less bad than the teaser. At the end of the day, the visuals and props are still deep in uncanny valley and the actual substance of the movie is basically just Minecraft themed meme flick...
One thing I’ve noticed from the trailer is that in the “stash” there are the boots of swiftness from Minecraft dungeons. (Dungeons content coming soon??)
The artstyle looks even more inconsistent here. The TNT is super plain in texture, something like they do in the stylized trailers. The firework would be too but it has weird out of place wear and tear scrapes all over it, the sword is realistic with metal but weirdly designed to not look like minecraft at all and the crafting table is hyper realistic. All these things are within like 5 seconds of the trailer. It stands out so much
HEY ITS SOMETHING I have actual a bit of hope for this movie now. Like a bit, it’s not huge. But this is still SO MUCH BETTER than what originally was shown. I’m so relieved, I’m glad they at least heard us
When it comes to cinema or story-telling in general, the path to a successful story is what you put behind it. What you're trying to tell with your story. And while cinema is the same, I've always felt like something that's been at the heart of cinema and gaming is that it's about having fun. An experience to make you smile. Watching this trailer just didn't make me smile. And the future of storytelling makes me feel really, really depressed.
Fun fact: that's literally a farm mumbo-jumbo would build all the time years back. He's working with them on this movie. He 100% showed them that farm design.
Pointing out something very weird about this new trailer. Why is everything so centered, like, visually? Everything so in the middle just makes things look like a product more than an element of the environment. Presenting a movie this way just seems so half-assed and lackluster if you have literally the word "movie" in the title.
They cheaped out on the greenscreen stage. The actors are perched up in a little green room while the majority of the scene is CGI'd over. The difference in stage lighting and the CGI-lighting definitely doesn't help either. Had they used a Volume instead, it would probably look a lot better, but the production costs would have gone through the roof i guess.
I'd be willing to bet that it's framed this way to make it easier to make TikTok clips. A lot of things are going with this style of composition now over ones that make sense and look good, and it seems to be to make it so you can clip them in a vertical format without missing important details. TikTok memes are how a lot of things get exposure now.
The plot is that there is a piglin named General Chungus 💀, e serves this higher guy from Minecraft legends and they try to take over the overworld, so it's Minecraft dungeons plot but Minecraft features
I really like this but not because im ''weird'' its because of the awesome details ( or references idk )like the pink sheep or the fact that the redstone shines when they touch it like in the game, etc These details make me like the trailers feels more like minecraft
I can see it as just a form of childhood curiosity being fulfilled. Being a construction worker probably isn’t a glamorous job either but my kid self loved the idea of it (played with legos/knex a bunch growing up)
Ima be real for a sec... the only three things in this movie that make it bad are; The irl people 50% of the mobs designs And the cringy script (wich "some" of the jokes are fynny tbh) The sets and world design is beautiful, and im so unbelievably mad that it looks so bad with the poor greenscreen job they did with the actors
I saw a chatter mentioning the dragon, and it made me notice something: unlike Notch's original idea of the dragon being the end of the game, it feels like Mojang is moving away from that to focus on other bosses
One sad think about this movie is, that there are many difrent animations, that are a lot beter that this (for example: Alan becker) but because this is official, is going to make a lot more money, that others "films".

I agree, no actual plot, just action
didn't story mode kinda go in that direction in season 2?
Yeah they could have looked at matpats lore videos and could have taken some inspiration. I, for one, would have used them to make my idea of a Minecraft movie.
From the evidence, it's just Story Mode. We saw how that went as a game...now it's a movie...
That would be awful
1:27
Man, I do love that commentary!
4:46 Dude its the RTX Villager!!! I've seen a bunch of that one animator shorts and that is basically the same CGI animation style
tbh i just wanted the story to be like those minecraft novels you'd find in 2016 at the book fair, like the Gameknight999 Series
Man this comment just brought me back years into the past like that one scene with the critic in Ratatouille
ngl the Gameknight999 series would make a realllly good movie
theres no way you just brought that series back into my head
Yo another person who read those books
I haven't heard that name in year's...
Its ok Steve, I think we all yearned for the mines at some point.
I also yearned for the mines
I'm glad that the props aren't CGI but it feels so out of place to have Realistic Humans in a block world
yeah. everything just looks ai generated/everything looks like its made of resin. this movie gonna fail so badly and i gonna laugh at it.. LAUGHH. becuz the director that made this abomination. prob never actually took critiquism that cgi doesn't work.
I dont think its the fault of the movie, i aint find it bad. If AI wouldn't generate something familiar like that style. I bet it wouldn't be that hated. @@imafailure
@@imafailurethree things
1.) most of the movie isn’t cgi, it’s mostly practical and made with physical props which look AMAZING, when you adjust to people being in a Minecraft world it actually looks pretty good
2.) This movie is essentially a multimillion dollar passion project, and it shows, nothing looks AI generated (no clue where you got that from) and everything simply OOZES with personality and attention to detail.

I know your looking at that cave and your feeling kind of brave
Mojang should make a hyper realistic resource pack for vanilla Minecraft as promoting for the movie
7:58 Of course there isn't. Ears are not made of bone, they are made of shark. (As in what sharks are made of, and I can't remember what that is at the moment)

@Bruhman_YUSS Thank you.I'm not gonna edit it tho, the sentence "ears are made of shark" is quite funny.

I really hope next April Fools update we gonna get portals that transfer you to Human world. Especially as the movie comes right after it.
I will not believe that the trailers are accurate depictions of the movie until it actually comes out. Up until them, I am 100% convinced that they are completely unrelated to the actual movie and a form of advertising by using the discussion of how bad the trailers are to get more attention
people said this with sonic until proven wrong when they made merch of that ugly ass model and the company confirmed they took the more human route
although it would be hilarious if it turns out to be 100% animated with the best storytelling ever
Mojang: Doesn't like guns in minecraft
Also Mojang: 6:16 makes a gun in the minecraft movie
Movie is made by WB no? Not Mojang?
It's A Movie
they just don't want children "playing" with guns in an e10+ game. showing guns in a pg-13 movie is not the same
How do you know that its gun for killing? What if it's some sort of like Buble launcher for example
Too blur. Maybe it's a crossbow
5:22 "every item on this shelf is a minecraft item" The greek god hermes boots are officially in minecraft according to phoenixSC
They are boots of swiftness from minecraft dungeons.
I straight up thought it was a Terraria reference (Hermes Boots)
Terraria x minecraft collab
I now kinda want a helmet stand in the game
Damn Steve about to craft the terraspark
The audio cutting out is so annoying. RUclips's overbearing protocol is at it again.
5:29 If they don't add shelves in the next update, I'll be steeved.
I like how they really want to stick to the mechanics found in the game. This trailer gave me a little bit of hope
It’s also promising that some prominent Minecraft players helped work on the movie behind the scenes
The redstone and chicken farm was a welcome surprise. I kinda wonder how far they'll take it. Iron farm? Allay torture chamber?
i agree :D!
@GSBarlev cant wait for the allay torture powered automatic silver fish miner to be in the minecraft movie
Mumbo-jumbo definitely taught them about the chicken farm lol. There's no way they found that out without him being on set.

0:25 industrial revolution ah moment
You say that as I have a test tomorrow on the Industrial Revolution. Watching this video is more important than studying tho.
5:00 I was expecting live action villagers with big noses plastered on. Their only lines would've been "Hmm" "Mhmmm" "Uh-uh", with their mouths closed.
They’ll probably be the comic relief of the movie made specifically to sell merchandise, like bob from beetlejuice 2.
Apparently there’s gonna be a side plot where someone in the real world falls in love with a villager or something??? I remember hearing that somewhere
@@CraftyTheFungusOH GOD NO PLEASE
I think the trailers make the movie seem like its an introductory trailer to minecraft, rather than a movie where you see the characters learning the mechanics themselves as most new players do. it feels more like a trailer for what minecraft should be like than what it actually is like
this was how the mario movie was for me. It was pure curiosity to see what animators did with the source material, and then I never think about it again

Jack Black is a dwarf. How did we not discover this sooner? Look at his majestic beard, for crying out loud!
8:42 "Look at him, he's so excited"
*Showing blurred face of Jack Black*
I'm pretty pessimistic on this movie. "real person goes to game world" is always super hit or miss (usually miss) and this one seems like it's going to be 80% just "what if real person do game mechanics?". It feels like it's gonna get old pretty fast, and a lot of it will just be basically a checklist of things you can do in Minecraft.
"wow, placing blocks? you can't place blocks in real life!", "things don't become smaller versions of themselves and float when you break them in real life, that's crazy!!". "when you place things on the crafting table, it makes other things?!?!?! How wacky!!!" I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it
and then ofc on top of that the live action characters are just standing in front of a greenscreen with some props, and half the CGI models look disturbing as hell so... yeah not excited for this movie. If only they'd made it fully animated and have nothing to do with the real world, would've immediately been a huge improvement.
it suck man, aaaaa
in terms of green screen, the running at 2:42 hurts my soul. it looks so bad. I wish the whole thing was animated. even jack black as the only human would have worked lol
I'm so mad. This is Jumanji with block, that's literally it. THEY EVEN DID THE SAME SCENE WITH HIM PULLING THE CUBE OUT OF A RANDOM DIRT WALL!
It stands out so much
The chicken also looks almost exactly like it does in the game, whereas almost everything else is like a bonsai watermelon.

HEY ITS SOMETHING I have actual a bit of hope for this movie now. Like a bit, it’s not huge. But this is still SO MUCH BETTER than what originally was shown. I’m so relieved, I’m glad they at least heard us
8:17 The movie may be *about* creativity, but that apparently doesn't necessarily mean the movie itself needs to be creative.
"As a child i yearned for the mines" who was the genius who sneak that in the script?
When it comes to cinema or story-telling in general, the path to a successful story is what you put behind it. What you're trying to tell with your story.
And while cinema is the same, I've always felt like something that's been at the heart of cinema and gaming is that it's about having fun. An experience to make you smile.
Watching this trailer just didn't make me smile. And the future of storytelling makes me feel really, really depressed.
7:00 lol, i was just thinking about how those trailers inspired me to revisit SquareMadia. Turns out "Songs of War" is just as good as i remebered it
i miss songs of war tbh. best minecraft animated series I've ever watched, it was such a cool world with cool characters
too bad it got canceled :(
the mobs look like something that early image making AI would make if you asked for realistic minecraft
It all looks as generated😭🙏
The chicken part is actually kinda cool
Fun fact: that's literally a farm mumbo-jumbo would build all the time years back. He's working with them on this movie. He 100% showed them that farm design.
"Steve in the marvel universe with the tesseract" - thebreadlord2 Best quote I have ever seen in my life. 4:08

Also Mojang: 6:12
*Microsoft, Mojang is just following orders. it is Microsoft that is ruining the game
I can't do it, everytime I look at this movie I frown, it's embarassing
Pointing out something very weird about this new trailer. Why is everything so centered, like, visually? Everything so in the middle just makes things look like a product more than an element of the environment. Presenting a movie this way just seems so half-assed and lackluster if you have literally the word "movie" in the title.
Agreed

The Jumanji story really brings it down a few notches for me because of how much it limits the possible narratives
Funny idea from my sibling: Jack Black should have played Momoa's character and vis versa.
I saw a chatter mentioning the dragon, and it made me notice something: unlike Notch's original idea of the dragon being the end of the game, it feels like Mojang is moving away from that to focus on other bosses
As a former child, I can concur that I, too, used to yearn for the mines.
3:42 you got that right
One sad think about this movie is, that there are many difrent animations, that are a lot beter that this (for example: Alan becker) but because this is official, is going to make a lot more money, that others "films".
The death of sincerity in cinema is real
this is your sign to end it all
It's true though Hollywood cinema is dead only independent film makers have what it takes in my opinion to make actual movies
Honestly, though. 😮💨
I'm noticing a lot of stuff that wasn't in the main game (specifically the feathered boots) are actually stuff that comes from Minecraft Dungeons
