Update 19/12/22: There are many songs that Mike cannot sing live, however, singing is a career that takes so many years of dedication. I'm going to tell you something, I'm one of those who always admired Mike much more compared to Chester, that is, in my life I always had him as an influence because I'm a musician and because his style of composition are my main influence, but that does not prevent me from being objective. Have you seen Mike singing his own songs live? his compositions for the album "Post Traumatic" are amazing, but the singing career takes a long time of dedication, not all of us have Chester's conditions. As optimistic or fans as we may be, Mike does not have the same resistance or the vocal range, the only way to have a New Linkin Park is to get another vocalist who approaches Bennington's level, and that's the problem, that it is very difficult to achieve. Maybe with Adam Gontier (former frontman of Three Days Grace) or with a screamer and another normal singer

One of the very few Linkin Park songs that Chester doesn’t perform on, and this was at the insistence of Chester himself. For those who may not know, Chester originally sung this song, and Chester had the idea for Mike to try it. After hearing this version, Chester said “Yours is way better, don’t even use my vocal.” Mike said that Chester has one of the greatest voices of all time, so for Chester to compliment him in that way was crazy for him.
This story is on the Making of MTM documentary. I’m so glad Mike told Chester these things while he was here!

A lot of people are saying Linkin Park will never be the same but people don't realize that they've never been the same, they've always changed, experimented with new music, always been evolving into something new.

@@BARCODEGOD here's the thing with that though, Chester wasn't there at the very start. Hell, they made like two whole albums' worth of songs by late '96 early 1997 when Chester *did* join. Yes I agree Chester is iconic. Very iconic. And his sound is gone with him. But Chester's vocals wasn't *all* that made the band. To give an example, look at Blink 182. One of their lead vocalists left, and they just carried on.
Truest words can't be said...for instance one more light ,while a masterpiece on its own , wouldn't be a fitting song on their early albums...

I never knew Mike could reach high notes like this, he's such a good singer and rapper :)
He actually can't back then. There's a lot of autotune in this one that helped him with high pitch notes etc.
Now that Mike singing is way better than before (see his performances during the Post Traumatic Tour or his recent solo stuff like Already Over) I would love to hear how he will sing this one if he decides to play live again

Words can't describe the wonder I felt coming across that one unofficial lyric video on RUclips for this track as a teenager. Mike's singing paired with the cinematic arrangement blew me away at the time, and the song is just as incredible today. It's amazing to finally have it available on streaming all of these years later - thank you Linkin Park.

It's unbelievable how much vocal progress Mike has made over the years. Back in the days of MTM, there weren't many songs sung by Mike himself apart from rap songs. Beautiful times when I discovered this song :) Today I love to listen to Post Tramatic and I look forward to his new album and preferably the return of the whole band with Mike on the lead vocal. Greetings to all the fans coming back to all these beautiful songs.
I think you're forgetting the song "in between" which was included in MTM. Also Mike have been doing backing vocals at least in live shows since the very early days.

Fora as do Linkin park Underground, deve ter várias que eles nunca lançaram e nunca vazaram em nenhum lugar (demos antigas ou músicas descartadas saca, músicas nunca ouvidas pelo público). Eu gostaria muito de ouvir a demo de Numb, mas nunca vazou em nenhum lugar, nada, nunca saiu para o público em nenhum lugar. Wow, wow this song is so perfect. Mike as always an incredible voice. Linkin Park has been a group that has stood out for having incredible voices, obviously Chester's voice is second to none, but Mike also has a spectacular voice.
I hope Linkin Park continues like this and Mike is now the main voice. Although also if a new member arrives it would also be accepted, obviously with time, but that new voice would be accepted.

They were B-Sides for the album back in the day (except Across The Line, that was an LP Underground release). I remember having this song on my Creative Zen
on the european and japanese they included no roads left but they did not put across the line on any of the editions of the cd's or vinyls because they taught it would not be fitting if across the line was on minutes to midnight so that's why

Awesome! No Roads Left and Across the Line are really good songs, I am happy that they are now officially released (and on Streaming Services). Now we are only missing Blackbirds.
And 'What we don't know' which is fourth song that didn't make it to album. Of course, there is a fifth one as well but we still don't know which one it is.

Speaking of songs that didn't make it onto an album though, Mike said a while back they have an unreleased track from the One More Light sessions that I'm not sure really anyone's heard called Friendly Fire with Chester's vocals on it, but he also said we'll have to wait a long time to hear that song, so I'm intrigued to hear the song when they finally do decide to release it.

As a gen z, I found this band by transformers '07 years ago, and I loved them since. But that was I researched the singers, and saw that Chester died, and that hit me, not knowing what he had gone through, lighting a billion stars, and one more light fades, but shines brighter.

I also discovered the band while I heard them in ending of TF1, so What I've done is my first LP song and definitely one of my favourite LP songs and songs in general. Later when I heard New divide in TF2 and Iridescent in TF3 I explored the band, at first I haven't payed much attention to RIP comments but then when I got into it all, more and more I cared, listened to their literally every song and so today when LP is my favourite foreign rock'n'roll band, I just can't accept that Bennington's gone and that eighth album of LP will probably never see the light of the day and even if it does, it'll be without Bennington as lead singer. And we all know that after Bennington recorded his very last song Cross Off (for Mark Morton's solo album Anesthetic) the band along with Bennington planned for their 8th album to be hard rock and heavy metal oriented just like Cross Off song, since they liked it and after pop rock album One more light, heavier sound was expected anyways. Since they became known for changing subgenres for every album after Meteora. The hunting party was the heaviest one and seventh was the softest one so those sudden changes became their signature. It is heartbreaking that Cross Off that got released three years ago was the last thing we'll ever heard from Bennington. Still, that last song is a nice farewell song, it is one of the best songs of his career and definitely among the heaviest.

For those of you who don't know, Mike Shinoda sings all the vocals in this song, even the high notes in the chorus.
I don't care if they are "never the same again". Change happens. I will still enjoy the older music from when I was a pissed off teen. On the other hand, I can enjoy this. Though there will always be that bit of sadness in my heart.

This along with Black Birds were my favorite Linkin Park songs ever just behind Roads Untraveled and I had no clue both of them were unofficial.

The first time I heard this song I was shocked to hear Mike take on lead vocal like that, he did an amazing job.

I have been waiting for them to upload the unreleased songs from Minutes to Midnight for so long. Mike Shinoda isn't just a great rapper, he's such a great singer too. I love this one. I'd say my favorite line is "Why does my pain look like my pride?"
