Dude, this video is perfect: short, concise and solved my issue. Cleaning them thoroughly for the first time in a year and a half. I was afraid of opening them but your video was perfect. It was gross hahaha. Thanks for the video.
@@enescalskan3985 I manage to clean it with Q-tips and wipes (mostly dry, literally a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol on the tissue), and the q-tips for the parts that are hard to reach. Omg, you are an absolute godsend. I was on the verge of freaking out thinking that I would have to buy a replacement. I didn't know you could swap those out so easily though. Thank you so much!
Thank you so so so much! I was so embarrassed about the “stain” on the mesh of mine, I can’t believe it was such an easy fix though, I’m super relieved that I don’t need to but new ones 😅 thanks again!
The video is very clear and straightforward, no BS, no stupid music, great video quality and explanation. I was able to change ear pads very quickly. Also these headphones are designed to do this very easy, no issues at all.
Thanks for this. All I wanted to do was clean the inside mesh attached to the ear cup, because ear-grime built over time. (Yes I clean my ears! haha) They're so easy to unclip, and I just sponge-washed the mesh with detergent. I was concerned clips would snap, etc. Appreciate the upload, thanks! :)
I just cleaned the mesh on the ear pads but didn’t know how to remove the mesh from the cushion. I couldn’t help but get the cushion also wet and now they are cold so I think there is still water contained in them. How do you separate the mesh from the ear pad cushion?
Thanks, this was the only video I needed to refresh my headphones after two years :-) I washed and dried the inner foam as my kit didn't include that, it's still fine this time but next time I'll probably replace the foam too.
Great tips and video, but as pointed out by a few people already, when putting the foam back in (the one that sits behind the cushion and mesh piece), the video shows them being placed wrong. The little tab on the foam does not go in that cutout part, it goes on the opposite side of the case. If your foam's tip is in the cutout, you have swapped your foams (the left one is on the right side and vice-versa). This matters because the foams are asymmetrical, so having them swapped could (not saying it will, but it could) affect your comfort when wearing the headphones. Thanks for the video, though!
Where did you buy the inside foam for the headphones? It seems like ever since I got my XM3's that there is zero foam on the inside, so my ears are always killing me
Hey man, in case you didn't know, the link in your description doesn't work because it searches the wrong category, so it only lists actual headphones instead of the pads. Your link goes to "electronics" category but it should be the "headphones earpads" category. I would put the right link here but I don't want to get spam filtered.

Hi! purchased XM4 headset, i have no purchasing invoice so i don't have warranty on it. Contacted Sony, repair declined. Brand new, sealed, 2 days later the left ear stopped working. No sound and no ANC. The only way to make it work for just 1-2sec is pushing with a finger on the joint. I think there is a pinched wire or de-soldered one. Is a common problem on previous models? How to fix it? Thank you
This is not a problem I've seen before but I think you are spot on with the assumption of a loose solder connection. I think you'll need to open it up and carefully examine the connections. Best wishes!
Hey man thank you for your videos and tutorials I really appreciate the effort. But i have a problem. I also have theese headphones and recently, right side has started to sound quiter than the left side. There is no physical damage but I just do not know what to do. Do you have any ideas?

@@tombeastie6222 the pads don't isolate the sound, the active noise cancellation does that. The simple version of how the active noise cancellation works, is it takes in the sounds from your surroundings using a microphone, and it attempts to invert those sound waves by effectively generating the 'opposite' of those sound waves into your ears at the same time the surrounding noise is going in and that's how it cancels those sounds out. If you've ever used the headphones without turning them on, that's the difference you'll hear.
