4:10 How do you clean the "screams", protective cloth?
Finally with my xm3 I'm seeing all his videos JAJA
Nicely done. I am suffering from new device syndrome worrying about what will happen if the cups get torn.
My JBL everest did this and jbl die not want to help me
Switched to sony for that Purpose
Me too 😀
Me too and the headphones didnt arrived yet!!
Wouldn't worry about it. I've been using a pair of these practically every day for the last 3+ years (the same pair), and have not managed to tear the cups. The black leather finish has almost entirely worn off, however, and I am now replacing the cups for this reason. More importantly, the sound quality is the same as the first day I got them.
Wtf. First world problem?
most people dont care for tutorials like this, but most of us are realy glad that you did the video.
Have used my XM3s to death, particularly during lockdown where the ANC kept me sane. As a result my pads were in a sorry state. Bought some new ones, but was really hesitant about doing the replacement. Felt loads better after watching this video - didn't take long, and much cleaner pads now!
You are the goat. I didn't even know what to do. My ear pads were torn and destroyed and didn't know what to do. Ordered the replacement from Amazon. And now I have new ear pads. And they make my headset look brand new since I never abused my headset.
Thanks for this video. Really straight to the point which is great
I had to replace my current pads as the leather on my old ones were fading a lot and it smelt pretty bad even after multiple attempts to try and clean them
Thanks, got it done within 10 mins as the video played in the background! I used a nail clipper too, a guitar pick was clearly too short/weak for it. One extra thing I did: I carefully cleaned some dust with a small tape before putting everything back on.
Absolutely helpful, it seems simple to rely on intuition and I initially just tried to pull it out and slightly ripped the leather on one cup and seeing him use a blunt flat tool just gave me the confidence to correctly do it based on his instructions.
Thanks!
Just replaced mine with your guidance.
I appreciate how you made it so concise.
Very Helpful, finally a video that is good quality etc, great explanation etc. I know this is simple but I always worry I will break the inside microphone's wires so I watch video's to make sure I am doing it right, glad to know I am.
Thank-you! I was poking and prodding and didn't want to get too aggressive without really knowing how they were connected. This tutorial was awesome. Thanks.
This made changing the ear pads so easy. Thank you!
Your a real one you use at home tools and show directly how to take it off at home thank you
Thank you! Decided to change Headphones Earpads after few years of use. It's like new.
Thanks Aaron...took mine off and flipped them over... like new! Thanks so much!
Did the same with your tutorial ... thanks Aaron !
Thank you Aaron! I didn't replace it though but used the other side of the clothing of the headset. It works!
very clear instructions i managed to fix it within 1 min!!! THANKS SO MUCH❤
Dude you're a life saver. Very helpful, thanks Aaron!
Dudeeee this was such a quick and to the point tutorial. You just saved me hundreds of bucks.
I bought 30 dollar ones off of Amazon and I can't believe this was uploaded years ago. Still a wonderful tutorial!
11pm at night and I needed my new cups on for work tommorow, instructions didn't let me down
Thank you. Your RUclips was very youthful for me.
I clicked on this 8 min video over the 3 min one, and I have no regrets. Thank you, I felt very informed and confident to go ahead with this. 🥰
You're welcome!
Super helpful and easy to understand.
Very useful! Thanks for helping me keep my XM3s for longer!
this video really helps, much appreciated
Thanks for the nice video--well done! I like that you emphasize patience--I often get frustrated and impatient when working on things! I have the WH-1000XM3 and am considering ear cushion replacement after only 5 months of ownership because the cushions are going flat and rolling inside the housing. This causes the already annoying foam padding on the drivers to push on my ears even more! Wonderful sound quality and excellent noise cancelling, but crappy ear cushions!
So true, patience is key when working with delicate devices and that too for the first time.
Thank you! I have tried it today and it went well 😊😊😊
Excellent! Really useful, just changed the earpads in my 1000XM2.
Glad it helped!
Thanks. Very helpful. My new earpads are installed.
Thanks so much. I'm proud of myself with your help.
Very learn full , thanks for your video!!

Very helpful, thanks man
i got my new ear pd, successfully removed the old one and inerted the new one, all good now and looking new XM3, Thanks for the video really helpful ❤😊❤😊
Awesome video. Had these headphones since launch and finally replaced the earpads after 3 years. They feel like new!
Did you get a genuine part? If not, did you notice any difference in sound/ANC?
@@rfh9560 I don:t think I got a genuine part, I got it off ebay, and noticed much nicer comfort and an improvement in quality (because the old ones were worn down so much).
@@VincentW2 i just installed new ones a minute ago, they were about €5 from Aliexpress. They are clearly not as malleable, in part for being new I suppose. Cannot tell any difference in sound/ANC yet, will have to test outside. What concerns me more is the comfort/durability of these, the old ones were clearly leather, I could see the fibres, and it helps absorb the skin’s oils, it was actually surprisingly greasy when I started to press and pry them, and I make sure to wipe them on my shirt before putting them away, and it’s not even warm here either. Last case scenario I can contact sony for genuine ones, I love these headphones so it would be worth it
Thank you for all the work you do Aaron. Truly appreciate it. Can’t wait for the latest updated one for the new WH 1000 XM4!😁
Is there one
@@chrisgrabowski6691 yep, but upgrade isn't worth. My Sony XM3 is still awesome.
Great instructions. Worked perfectly. Thanks :)
thank you. very use full
Thank you, you rock sir.
thanx so much, I got the job done before this tutorial had finished :)
So helpful, thankssssss 💜
I dropped my xm3s & the pads fell off & got damaged so now I'm replacing them with velour ones! thank you for the quick and useful video my headphones are good as new now ♡
This was helpful. Thanks Aaron!
I have try skin and replacing the cups or at the very least cleaning the existing ones off apart form the earphones is going to be essential matinence for me so I really appreciate the ease with wich sony made it to take them off.
Thanks
Thank you so much man. Love from India...
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you. You saved me a ton of money :-)
Just had to replace my earpads. Had a bit of doubt about how to remove the earpads but it worked perfectly.
Thank you
Very nice job - excellent - thank you..
Many thanks. Look forward to the WH-1000XM4 version in due course, unless the principles are the same???
Bro thank you. Idk why but It took me forever to find this info 😅
Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial!
No problem!
thank youuuu man...
Excellent video. Simple and to the point. Thanks, Aaron.
You're welcome!
Nice video Aaron! 👍🏼 The upper part cushion of my headphone also need to change apparently. I’m wondering whether is it replacable as well?
thank you so much
This was really helpful..
I got alot of help from this video 🎉
Hey Arron, thanks for the helpful video. Is there any way I could find genuine Sony pads? I hear these make the noise cancelling worse.
“The quickest way to destroy your headphones is to rush” 😂😂😂 isn’t that a fact.
I have the XM4’s and my biggest gripe about them is how thin the earcups are. My ears touch the inside of the headphones and they get way too hot. No room to breathe in there. So I’m going to try one of the aftermarket sets of earcups, hoping they’re a bit bulkier and give me some more room inside of these units. I also have a set of Bose QC35II’s and they are hands down better as far as space goes…. I can wear them for easily double the time and not get warm. They are also much much easier to change the earcups on 😂 thanks for this video though! You’re the best. And your humor is stellar 🤙🏼
Thanks! Glad this video helped 😂 Also please subscribe too if you haven't already! 😁
Nice I could clean my ear pads thanks to you 😊 👍
Thank you very much. 🎉🎉🎉
Tks for you help
Very helpful. So, I know that that I have to "maintain" them instead.
was about to contact sony for costs then i see the $88 price tag, which probably be more expensive by now! will buy earpads online to try and fix on my own. thanks for this video!
You're welcome!
bought new earpads on taobao a while back after much research, but only just installed it. finally got it done and it cost only about $20+ !!! wow! this video saved me probably a $100 at least? haha.
You could give me instructions to perform surgery you are so calm. Great video, thanks.
Thats very kind! You're welcome!
the trick is, once the headphones smell your fear they gonna resist.
just make em believe you know what youre doing and show dominance, if all fails pee on it
Thanks man
Is this a first on utube , well done , looks. Fairly easy
thanks bro, i want to exchange my xm4, this vid helps a lot
excellent. Thank you!
You are welcome!
Love the background music
LAKEY INSPIRED - Better days ;-) *fly away*
Aaron, how to change the headband on 1000mx3 ?
Thanks mate. Spot on.
No problem 👍
Are there any videos on how to replace the battery in the Sony WH-CH700N? I need to replace mine, have purchased the battery, but don't want to destroy the headphones. Thanks
thanks man. ive just bought mine recently, and im having some issues withe left headphone. It seems the mic inside touch the sponge and that makes that horrible distortion
Thx guy
Aaron, thank you for pointing out that the WH 1000XM3s need new pads. The ones provided are made of fake leather and quickly lead to itchy, sweaty discomfort. Which is regrettable because the 1000XM3s are so excellent soundwise. I solved that issue which had gotten serious for me, with a new pair of pads made with real, soft leather by Dekoni for that very headset. They come in either leather or suede but I opted against the suede because the noise-cancelling could be adversely affected. I may be wrong. They cost under $50, below Sony's plastic replacements and they completely eliminate the itchy, sweaty annoyance. Keep making them Aaron.
Where can I find these?
Nate S I got mine on Amazon.
Thanks for the video man.
You’re welcome 😁
That have helped me to clean them in soap water , everytime i put the headphone on a surface that Make somes greasy marks. Now it's full cleaned, thank you 👌🏻👍🏻
Very easy nice
Thx from the Netherlands, very usefull, aboiut to replace them ! Keep up the good work !
Thank you! Also please subscribe if you havent already! 😁
omg thank you so much!
No problem!!
very useful. thanks :D
Hello, I wonder if remove spong over driver can the sound become more clear like sony mdr-1am2 ? Thanks
Thanks Aaron. I’m thinking about getting these headphones but I’m concerned that they will only last as long as the battery does. At over £250 that makes the headset too expensive to simply throw away if or when the batteries dies. Is it possible to replace the batteries themselves on this model, or should I buy a cheaper headset where it won’t matter so much?
Thanks for your help bro. I have the “international version” of the MH 1000XM3 and the foam pad that covers the drivers looks different than yours. Not sure what that’s about.
Yours is fake...
Great, thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
Hi whats the alternative pads that you would suggest that will not impact the audio quality?
I finally be able to save up and buy one BUT it turn out to be a BIG DISSAPOINTMENT in terms of comfort. 5 mins in and my ears felt warm like sauna. Obviously I can't afford to buy BOSE QC 35 now . My wish is if I can replace the Sony's pad with QC 35s replacements. Appreciate a reply. Thank you.
Have you ever replaced the foam screen/shield that lays on top of the actual speaker unit? I found that mine has deformed due to my ear shape and can't seem to find replacements parts online
which earcups do you recommend? I really need to know this. I don't wanna mess with noise cancelling or sound characteristic.
Thank God they don't use that annoying adhesive like the beats studios.
They are well built it seems. Proud to buy Sony again.
Beats are garbage laughed at a co worker when he bought them now after hearing mine he wants my sonys cause we have better bass and noise canceling I tried to warn him
falkerhard well mine just broke for no reason after a year so😐
@@SuperZombiepimp i went to try on beats headphones, i just had to cringe at the new models. the old studios were fine but hell, they are crappy af today. Just by touching the material I knew how shitty they are. The solos didnt even fit my head. The XM4 I bought has a plastic body too, but dont compare that to the ugly beats.
BTW I just did the same thing on the XM4 and I using this video as a reference and its actually the exact same way, even the clips seems similar for those of you who are wondering for the XM4 ear cups replacement.
Where did you buy the pads ? Can't find andy for xm4
Thank you so much for this video . I wasn't sure weather to toss my Sony Wh-1000xm3 in the trash or keep them with the shame of these chippy cusions . Thanks 🖤🙏🏾💯
