As a first step, check your manual or manufacturer's support page for their recommendations on cleaning the cloth earpads. They will often include instructions on how to remove the pads from the headphones so that you can clean them in a bowl with water and soap mixture.
Aside the trolling and jokes in the comments. This is something that most people would never have this come to mind, that every tech in existence NEEDS maintenance. Cleaning IS part of maintenance. Sure it is a hassle and a chore to get it done and properly without for physical deterioration that can eventually lead to destruction of said device. Not a lot of people know how to properly clean their said device without throwing it away. But I am glad Bestbuy is doing their effort to teach their customers on how to properly clean their headphones and earbuds.
Video is missing the bit of weeping down the headphones with the towel, went straight to the q tips and small spaces. Might be obvious how to but they went in depth with the ear buds so it just seems like it's missing
What worked well for me to remove the residual bad odor that was there even after the cleaning, was Fabreeze. In my case, that mesh protecting the speakers was the issue.
quick question out here, can I use leather cleaner and leather moisturizer to clean my overhead headphones pad? will it damaging the headphones pad? thanks for answering headphone: Sony wh-1000xm4 leather cleaner and leather moisturizer: coach
In theory, a small amount of leather cleaner may work on the headphones. As the leather on the headphones is thinner than the purses and other leather products that cleaner is designed to work with, you may want to try using a minimal amount at first and applying with care.
My over ear headphones don't seem to be easily removable. They've been used while running for months. How do I clean them to remove a really bad sweaty smell? My manufacturer is rebuilding their site and can't answer email Q's.
For cleaning the removable pads from earbuds, check out 1:57 in the video. For headphone pads, start at 2:16 and dampen a soft cloth with the soap and water mix shown in that part of the video. You'll use this to wipe down headphone pads separately if they're removable or on the headphone if not. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe them off as shown at 2:57 and let them dry.
The right side of my headphones are making a whistling noise every time i put it on and play something through it. I've been cleaning my headphones but it keeps on whistling whenever i put it on.
It's hard to say what might be causing that sound without physically looking at the headphones, but there is a chance the headphones may have been damaged in some way.
Depending on the material, it may not be possible to completely remove certain stains. In this case, we recommend contacting the manufacturer support directly for instructions that may be specific to the materials they use.
@bestbuy How do you dust your headphones? I was told that you need to do this by HiFiman as this can cause your headphones to stop working. Can you please show us how to do that? Or is it not needed?

Running a clean, microfiber cloth over your headphones is the easiest way to clear off any dust or debris they might accumulate during use.

There are vid tutorials that advises to use 70% alcohol. Is this ideal?
Anywhere from 70% to 99% will work. 70% is ideal for disinfecting as the additional water helps it to penetrate and kill bacteria.
can i use wet tissue with content some alcohol in it..
We recommend avoiding any material that could leave debris behind as it gets wet.
