I believe the reason it took so long for mobs to spawn is because the local difficulty was still too low in the spawn chunks and the difficulty goes up the longer you stay in a area
Local difficulty doesn't increase the chance for mobs to spawn. The reason it takes so long for mobs to spawn is because the way Minecraft chooses a spawn location is by selecting one column that's within 128 blocks of the player, then spreads the chance between the bottom of the world and the highest block (the grass block), so it's basically a 1/100000 chance per tick or 1/5000 chance per second for a mob to spawn.

this video help me more appreciate every block and every world there is in minecraft. i realize that minecraft can give me infinity and its up to me to make the most of everything.
For anyone planning to do this self-torture of a challenge. I'd recommend making the world have experimental trading turn on. with it, the wandering trader has a few trades that give you emeralds. one of them being buying baked potatoes, which like everything else in this challenge is a nightmare, but you have to kill burning zombies and they have a chance to drop potatoes, which will be baked since they're on fire. then you can trade them for emeralds to buy Podzol for more dirt, and saplings, preferably oak so they can drop apples to cure zombie villagers. without cheating or experimental trades there is no way to get wood. A few other key unobtainable items are Lava, Stone, and Obsidian. Without Lava you can't make a cobblestone generator, without cobblestone you can't make a lot of decorative blocks, stone tools, furnaces, and others. and without obsidian you can't go to the nether to barter which would unlock many things. if you're wondering how you would cure zombie villagers, pigs spawn on grass, lightning turns pigs into piglins, piglins drop gold.
As I approached the end of the video I checked your channel, BEGGING that there was a following video. AND THERE IS 3 OTHERS! I’m gonna watch them and enjoy them as much as I can! You gained a subscriber :) Well done for this incredible grinding, firstly coming up with the idea, a plan to achieve it, and then achieving it! Purely splendid.
Name the last block the shovel can make "Remnaut", remnant+naut Remnant for a lasting survivor, and naut for the journey that took you to here and now. Great work! Can't wait for more!
Nice one! Maybe I wil ltry this next. Now after 10 years I'm trying to get back to Minecraft as a old geezer and survive on skyblock hardcore to impress my kids xD
One Block Too Many challenge: You have a one block traditional ruleset, but instead of biome changing, you get a special biome block which lets you mine a 2nd one block you place (permanently). Then a third, fourth, etc as you unlock more biomes. The key mechanic here is that you can setup new locations for the "one blocks", but after a certain period of blocks mined on the server, all those extra one blocks becomes invasion portals for a pillager raid. The more you place the more spawnpoints for raids. So every time you place a new "one block" your server goes into upgrade timer and all the one blocks cannot be mined. After a certain amount of milestones reached for each "one block" type, the difficulty of the raid that happens increases. For instance grassland OB increases the amount of mobs spawned over time when raid night happens and higher rarity enemies being spawned with them. O.B.s are your resource tickets, but also your threats.

One day, when resources are less scarce, I'd love to see something like the Ranger Unification Monument but with Arnold and the snow block.
Só passando para dizer que seu vídeo chegou aqui no Brasil!! Mandou muito bem nesse desafio, estou acompanhando toda a série!! :)
It's crazy what you do, this is definitely taking something seriously. An impressive video
this video help me more appreciate every block and every world there is in minecraft. i realize that minecraft can give me infinity and its up to me to make the most of everything.
Looking forward to the series and cheers to your resilience to do that challenge.
As I approached the end of the video I checked your channel, BEGGING that there was a following video. AND THERE IS 3 OTHERS!
I’m gonna watch them and enjoy them as much as I can!
You gained a subscriber :)
Well done for this incredible grinding, firstly coming up with the idea, a plan to achieve it, and then achieving it! Purely splendid.
Name the last block the shovel can make "Remnaut", remnant+naut
Remnant for a lasting survivor, and naut for the journey that took you to here and now.
Great work! Can't wait for more!
Nice one! Maybe I wil ltry this next. Now after 10 years I'm trying to get back to Minecraft as a old geezer and survive on skyblock hardcore to impress my kids xD
One Block Too Many challenge:
You have a one block traditional ruleset, but instead of biome changing, you get a special biome block which lets you mine a 2nd one block you place (permanently).
O.B.s are your resource tickets, but also your threats.
when i thought the guy on the treeless chestless challenge had reached a theoretical limit, another madman finds a way
I can't wait to watch Arnold's journey
Considering normal skyblock gives you a starter chest I feel like 1 block should let you start with a shovel
your genuine happiness after achieving that second block was wholesome!!
I thought of getting a bone block at first, but your solution is much better.
This needs 1 million views AT LEAST
It has got it
I saw this was possible and I was like... no one in there right mind would ever try to ACTAULLY do this.
Absolutely love this! #1 MC Series RN
Absolute madlad.....
Absolutely insane, good luck on the challenge and I can’t wait for more episodes!
this video appeared in my RUclips recommendation algorithm, and I watched it till the end, however, I have no idea and no words for your dedication
You are incredibly underrated - I was genuinely surprised when I realised you had under 10k subscribers - keep up the good videos.
This is genuinly the best minecraft concept ive ever seen (and trust me ive seen quite some minecraft videos) well done, and thanks for making this video❤
I’m used to watching and experiencing major grinds because I’ve played RuneScape since the beginning. This is a serious grind that is on par with some Old School RuneScape creators.
This was so well made omg. The dedication you had just to start this challenge is crazy
