Doesn't it have to be 2 layers of snow to block spawns? 1 layer doesn't actually raise the y level like 1 carpet does.

You can place string above the void, on the face of a block, then place a carpet above. That way you have a "block" that cost only 0.92 block. Also, if you buy podzol before sapling, you'll keep your grass and will be able to make a wool farm with sheeps.

Great series so far mate, very entertaining an interesting considering I’d never have the patience for this even if I lived to a thousand. Fair play!

Maybe use silk touch shovel as your weapon? It does more than 1 damage at least...
